For real? Being arrested does not mean he did anything wrong. Hanner has been arrested, not proven guilty. Cops make mistakes, even on DUIs. Let's assume he did do it though. He'll be punished plenty by the legal system. Right now he's sitting in jail. If he's like most people in jail for the first time, he thinks his life is over and is thinking about how he'll never drink again. He will need the support of his teammates and the staff for that to happen. Sure, make a statement about athletes being held to a higher standard or some such nonsense. Suspend him for a game or two. Anything more than that is unlikely to be helpful, is just piling on the punishment he will receive, and is probably counterproductive.
Drinking and driving is a serious issue. I could care less about basketball when something like this happens. If he is found guilty, think about the damage he could have done. Killing himself or others do to a poor choice he made. I'm not saying I'm inhuman or haven't mistakes, but I've the damage of drinking and driving first hand. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
