IU will be a top 10 team next year
HoosierAloha replied to Adillac's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Nice to have an optimistic post. I don't know if IU is a top 10 team next season but stranger things have happened. A couple of thoughts. - I don't see how JBJ doesn't start - Stan will be starting, he can defend multiple positions - Perea has to spend a ton of time watching film and learning to play in a structured environment - Getting Lee would be huge - yogi needs to trust his teammates, that means Troy, Stan Rob, and Jeremy need to tighten up handles - I'm cautiously optimistic about next season Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -

Anyone have updates on the games? I've been "working" in the bay next to the TV but haven't seen any updates. I saw most if the OSU-Dayton game. Cincy still down to Harvard? Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
^^^^ I have heard of Accel clubs. Not common for sure. Yeah, clubs have gotten expensive. I wanted to get new Titleist Irons because I like mine so much and they are 15 years old. They are in great shape. I clean them religiously and have them re-gripped a few times. When I found out I was looking at $1200, it wasn't worth it to me. I only get out 2 or 3 times a week anymore. If I was playing every day still, then sure. I looked around and the cheapest irons seemed to be Cobra around here. I am a feel person though. If it doesn't feel right, then I will stick with what I know.
I picked up my AP2s a few years back for about $500. My swing speed has increased again so I have to reshaft them but they are sweet. I can really work the ball well but when I go after a shot I pull the crap out of it. I picked up the D3 for pretty cheap at the demo day. I think it was originally about $400 but got it for $300. I guess it's a matter of timing. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

OT: I Believe Pitino, Not Tom Lyles
Good to see the bats alive again. You think the reason we struggled was because a lot of the teams we played were not typical and thus not deeply scouted? Thoughts?
I think some of it had to do with warm/cold weather. The teams in the south are able to practice on their fields outside for most of the year. Same way it was for golf in high school. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Colonel I know this year we were turrble in close games. (4-9 in games decided by 7 points or less IIRC) but IU did win several close, important games in the two previous years. VCU in the tourney, @MSU, @UM to win the conference outright, Temple in the tourney. I would agree that there are some better than others, what characteristic(s) is most important for a coach to win close games? Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Just as some posters like to point out the coach Crean shouldn't be compared to coach Williams, coach K, or even coach Calicrimi we shouldn't compare the programs. Yes, every blue blood/basketball has crazy fanatics but not all of those schools are in the same position as IU. These next few years of IU basketball are extremely important. The boat has been raised, holes have been patched and now we are waiting to see what happens. Will the ship sink, maintain buoyancy, or take off and perform like it was built to do. No use to fling rocks at it while those who willing jumped on board to save her still remain. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Didn't KJ play a big part in getting the James "sloppy janitor" Blackmon Jr back? Also read that Ant Lee was recruited out if the DMV. I'm pretty sure KJ has some connections in that area. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Fred Glass Interview (CBI, Mike Woodson, IU Scheduling)
HoosierAloha replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That would defeat the purpose of the conference tournaments, though. I do agree that the regular season should be the determining factor, but they won't get rid of the tournaments. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
I don't think it would defeat the purpose of the conference tournaments. The purpose of the conference tournament is to make more $$$$. They might not make as much though. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
Fred Glass Interview (CBI, Mike Woodson, IU Scheduling)
HoosierAloha replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've posted this numerous times about our OOC schedule so one more won't hurt. We need... (1) marquee home/home Candidates: UL, KU, UCLA, etc (1) B1G/ACC Challenge Most likely playing upper tier ACC team (2-3) solid precon tourney Needs to include at least 1 top 25ish team (1) Crossroad Classic Butler/UND not always great competition (1) solid mid-major Candidates: Gonzaga, GW, Xavier, etc (2-3) 50-100ish RPI teams This can be tricky but need this group badly (3-5) 100-200ish RPI teams This will allow the team to try some new sets and build confidence This is my wish when IU has a solid team. As others have pointed out we need to find teams that play similar games as B1G opponents. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
This would be a solid grab but don't count your chickens before they hatch. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Is it acceptable to be pulling for our youngins to be in Cook Hall with the TVs on watching these games and working their butts off to get better? I would like to see a couple of B1G teams make deep runs in the tourney. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
Back on topic: Troy Williams is one of those special players in the making who will be a hugely popular Hoosier for the next few years. CTC has routinely praised his ability AND his work ethic, and he seems to be an extremely popular teammate. You guys want to instill a winning culture at IU? Troy Stan Yogi Others like them And experience
I can see Troy being a leader on this team because he show passion and effort. My hope is others on the team will see Troys gains toward the end if the season. The encouragement from a solid core if Troy, Stan, and Yogi could impact the others over the summer.
There are 2-3 guys on here that seek out any positive comments so they can piss in that person's breakfast cereal of choice. Why is it that you have to post a negative comment to EVERY post that's NOT negative? You guys feel better about yourselves afterwards? Do you do this when youre not online or do you come on here because no one will stick around long enough to listen to your constant complaining? You think people who try to find something positive to say don't see the negatives? Really? Congrats, you guys have taken over the site... now there are around 10 posters.
Projection, people can find negativity in others but can't identify it within. It is very easy to criticize but much more difficult to identify a problem and come up with a realistic solution. One could simply say say; fire the damn coach it's all his fault. It is much more difficult to understand the coach isn't going anywhere and identify what you would like to see happen for the coach, team, and program to improve. Wow, some thought put into a post. A negative thought with a good solution. Excellent post! Obviously what he was doing this year wasn't working. The coach needs to reflect on what he can do better in the next few weeks and then get to work correcting those things. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

I'll give the season a D. We beat a few top 10 teams, finally beat Wisconsin, and saw individual improvement from some of the freshman. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
There is nothing wrong with the players speaking their piece. But they need to remember that CTC is on the pay roll for $3 million dollars a year. This year has been so bad for fans who has been around for 40 years. I personally think CTC is a good PR person but he is NOT a coach for Indiana. I saw so many times things he done and asked what is he doing. I hope he is replace soon and that he takes Fred Glass with him [why would you offer CTC a job thru 2020] is beyond me. Fred Glass and CTC are two of a kind.
I disagree, the players should not be concerned over how much he is paid. The players should be concerned over listening to their coach and getting better. It seemed like Troy started putting that work in towards the end of the season and it started to show. Glad he has something to carry into the offseason. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
Jeez, there sure is a lot of negativity on here. Just trying to make people see the big picture and be a little more positive. Even if people were wanting a new coach, why would they want to come to a fan base that wants them gone after a disappointing year. Plus it could draw some players away along with future commits. You never know, it could be exactly the same as Crean's first 3 years and I bet no one wants that. Just remember, it could be worse, we could be Purdue. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
Ding ding ding. And we have a winner. But, but we can attract a top coach... Simple minds will always give simple answers. Devil's Advocate: Indiana's Schedule
HoosierAloha replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Great post. I would argue that it's easy to manipulate the schedule to make it strong without taking too many chances. Take for instance the games against the 300+ RPI teams, change those to teams in the 150ish range. Same with the 250+. You start rising in SOS quickly without risking a ton. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
Don't post anything positive, the crew will be sure to shoot it down as fast as possible. Glad to see Troy backing HIS coach. I'm sure he has learned a lot from him. Something seemed to have clicked at the end if the season with Troy. I hope he stays in the gym and makes huge strides this offseason. We are going to need it next season. So Marlin and Etherington with Bonleh going pro? (What you suggested in another thread) Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Nice addition but we need more. Cut the majority of the 200+ teams from the schedule. Throw in one or two more RPI top 75ish teams, play in tourney with a solid field, and play a good home/home along with the B1G/ACC challenge. That along with the B1G schedule should have our SOS top 20. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
