Can Indiana be a consistent winner under Coach Crean?
It holds as much water as yours. You also can't wait until the last minute either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
Okay... I never said anything about waiting until the last minute. What kind of message are you sending to coaches if you replace Crean now, not fans, possible future coaches of IU. If you come to IU and have a down year we are going to replace you. Yeah, I'm sure even more top coaches are going to jump at the opportunity to coach at IU. I'm not saying Crean is the guy that takes IU to the pinnacle of college basketball but some will never appreciate what he has done. IU hasn't been elite for a long time because of bad decisions made by those in charge. Canning Crean now would be just another dumb decision that would set us back. It appears some would just like to take that one in a million shot, after all it isn't their money or livelihood on the line. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
I'm not sure if you read what I said but I'm guessing based on your reply that you clearly didn't. I said I didn't think they would but people also didn't think Stevens would leave Butler when he did. As I said crazier things happen. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
I did read what you wrote. The argument that you can't name coaches who would turn it down doesn't hold water. As far as having a plan in place to succeed Crean goes, there shouldn't be a plan as of yet. If this season is a disaster they better start looking. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -

Give one reason any of those coaches would leave their current jobs. I could give you multiple reasons why they would stay. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
That's what kills me. People say "give me a name". Its a different ball game if the job is open. There will be different names pop up if the job was open. That's how it always works. Let me ask you a question. Give me a name that wouldn't take it? You can't answer it either. Fact of the matter is neither side can give an answer until the time comes. 2015 can be on OVs. Crean would never admit to being wrong or recruit Indiana kids. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Who? Give a name that IU could land right now. Keep in mind IU would be firing a coach one year removed from a B1G championship and back to back Sweet 16s. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -

And Ryan would be four if not for a couple of esrly round flame outs but he is still outperforming Cresn substantially.
So IU could bring in Matta, Izzo, or Beiilein?
We're not going to pull and established coach from someone like AZ or Florida. We'd have to go with someone that hasn't proven themselves at this level. However, that does not mean we say "well Crean is good enough, great coaches are hard to find".
So we can Crean, hire someone who we hope will turnout to be an elite coach? If it works out, awesome. We just pay him and keep him around. If it doesn't work out, ummm. We just can him after a few years for the next unproven coach in hopes we find one? How long does this go on? What kind of image are we projecting to other coaches who might be the next elite coach if we've fired several in a row before them? Interesting way to look at it. How many coaches, right now in college, are performing at the "standard" some here are claiming we should expect? Of those coaches, who is IU capable of bringing in? Where is this reality? Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -

Pretty sure this conversation has occurred a few times in the past year. Summary: Crean is wildly average, at best. IU should dominate college basketball with a good coach. Who is that good coach that is willing to come to IU? There is a process to progress to the top. Well, Brad Stevens! End conversation. Yes, coach can have success at IU. The kind of success some fans expect? No, unless he won multiple championships AND changed his name, hair, manner on the sideline, etc.. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners -
If I had it my way there would have been several games where everyone on the court would have been benched for the rest of the half, at minimum.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners

Not saying some of the blame doesn't go to the staff, it certainly does. I do remember a few games where Yogi was benched because he was pounding the rock too long. It's a maturity/unity issue.

I would take this team and work on drills that didn't involve a basketball or even on a court. The players need to trust that their teammates will make the right play. We lacked trust in a major way last season.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
I'm sure coach sat in practices and praised the players for turning it over so much.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
A Major Step Toward Improving Our Outside Shooting
HoosierAloha replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball

Agreed, I still think his ability to get to the hoop will depend more on his outside shooting than his ability to handle the ball. He is more a Sheehey than an Oladipo in that aspect if the game.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
-

More of turning it over in general when he puts the ball on the floor. I agree his mind was going faster than his body. Just takes time and reps.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
-

First and foremost the NBA is a business. They will always do what is in the best interest to make more money. They also assign the refs to the games and get the outcome they want more often than not.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
I like the direction of where our schedule is going. The real key to a strong RPI is with the cupcakes. We need to get those 250+ teams down between 150-200.

Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners
