Doubt it's a rule. We all know coach isn't strict and doesn't follow through with anything he says. Would love to hear who imposed this new rule. Hope they're in Cook Hall instead if tweeting. Would also like to know how much more they're in Cook Hall after the Halloween incident.

I believe coach Crean said during a podcast (ESPN?) that he hasn't heard anyone say basketball is not in Devin's future. I don't think they place a timeline to return on something like this because it is unpredictable. It's encouraging to see he is ahead of where they thought he would be though.

IU vs Northwood Post-Game Thread
HoosierAloha replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm 'out of the game' now because my body failed but I'm still working in the career field. It's not a company it's the military. -
To some it will be a mistake either way... I wouldn't start them and see how things play out. If IU goes down early you could bring one in to provide a spark. It might give them a little confidence, get the fans back on their side, and build some trust with their teammates. If you do start them and they get off to a rough start their teammates might press all little more to cover for them. Just my $.02

IU vs Northwood Post-Game Thread

That's not necessarily true. I have a coworker that is going through speech therapy. If you didn't know his story, and looked past the hearing aids, you wouldn't know there was anything wrong. Oddly enough, there is a lot more to speech therapy than verbal communication. I have had 10+ concussions. I feel the affects of it at a young age. Many of my coworkers have had TBIs, although slightly different than how Devin had his. TBI's affect people in different ways. I've had coworkers that were in the same accident, right next to each other, and have had different outcomes. The most hopeful information I've seen is that he was playing Uno and winning. -

Being a coach has a lot more to it than just being knowledgeable. There are plenty of coaches who are extremely knowledgeable but they just can't get through to the kids or who can't get the talent needed to compete. DD is very knowledgeable, he's just an jerk about it sometimes. I think he would agree with that to a point. -
Not sure if he would be game. I believe many would back it in hopes either coach Cheaney would take over or coach Stevens would tire of the NBA. I do know we have been absolutely horrible in having something lined up. Time to start that and get it right this time.

What should be done... I'm more about solutions than rehashing the problems. The problem is it is extremely hard to start as a "player's coach" to a disciplinarian than it is to go from a disciplinarian to a more lenient coach. The players know what they can get away with and have more than pushed the limit. It is time for the coaching staff to push back and take the team back over. This team was never broken down properly to be built back up on a proper foundation. This team was attempted to be built on rubble. Tearing the team down - The next practice would be hell. No drills, no shooting, no installing defensive principles, etc. Blare some Hank Williams Jr. "Family Tradition" while the players run until they puke. Have students throw foam bricks at them until they realize the only time they'll be stoned the rest of the year will be when they mess up. Instilling a sense of responsibility - Every player will be assigned a "battle buddy" on the team. Yogi, since you are the "leader" of this team, you get Stan. Nick take Williams. On down the line. If you're late to practice, a study session, fail a test, go to the bars, etc. your battle buddy and you face Yogi and Nick, the team "leaders." They assign the punishment with the assistance of the coaching staff. A fair punishment results in only the "team of battle buddies" that screwed up paying the price. An unfair punishment results in Nick and Yogi or whoever wants to stepup as the leaders of this team joining them. Learn to respect the program - Every player is given an away uniform and a set of warmups. The players lost the right for a home uniform. That player is responsible to have both sets ready for inspection at any time. The "leaders" of this team, under the guidance of the coaching staff, will call for inspections. The uniforms must be clean and presentable to a respectable level of what this programs stands for. Uniforms dirty, not read? See team leaders for punishment. If by the time the B1G season rolls around and you've passed your inspections you earn the right for a home uniform. Zero tolerance policy begins - Every last players on the freaking roster signs an agreement that they will abide by every team rule with no exceptions. One more failed drug test by anyone on the team and they're bags are packed, mommy and daddy get called and they come to pick you up. No questions asked. A run in with the law? Gone. It has reached that level. I'm one that believes in not everything needs to be made public. I don't need to know what punishments are behind the scenes. I'm good with that but this is nonsense. You have teammate in the freaking hospital because you can't control your partying. If you love and respect your coach and program half as much as the man who represents you, you will do everything in your power to show respect.

I haven't chimed in much but have been reading everything. Not to pile on but... How old is Coach Crews? How many more years does he have coaching? Is it possible we might get a Larry Brown kind of deal with Coach Crews comes to save the day in Btown with the B1G all time leading scorer waiting in the wings? Could Coach Crews be called upon to be a filler between the current and the wonderboy...

Eyewitness Testimony from a Passenger

Not sure if you're 100% serious but wasn't the impact on the windshield of the SUV? That would be a really awkward fall.
