Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
HoosierAloha replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Would you agree that a senior Remy would be Abell to show the freshman, both summer 2013 and summer 2014, the ropes of the program? -
Where did you get that I love Crean from that post??? Where did I defend him in that post???
-
So basically Hollowell (motivational issues), Perea (low basketball IQ, still learning the game), and Fischer (didn't fit the off court culture of IU)?
-
Really...? I mean I'm not saying every top 100 recruit he gets pans out but piling on with false statements is just, well it's not founded in fact. Watford and Hulls, didn't pan out right? 1,000 point scorers (they wouldn't have been if not for the rebuild) okay but they were key contributors on a B1G championship team Zeller, top 100 yeah about him Yogi... he's playing pretty well Vonleh JBJ, RoJo they're both doing pretty well so far

IU will definitely get beat by Rutgers

rebel, never change for anyone or any group of people. I've grown more vocal about the shortcomings of the program because they are trends and not isolated incidents. However, keep doing you and using the platform you have here to shower BTB with optimism. -
I'm guessing they are buying a recruit from the LA area in the next couple of classes.

They'll probably get 4 in if bama loses. They played close games and they've been dominant and they're the best and ESPN will pay whatever it takes to get them in.

I haven't heard of deflections so they are useless! I mean seriously, if you deflect the ball it's not like you're actually interrupting the flow of the opponents offense. You know the old saying, "deflections are like ...holes everyone has one."

How long does he get to rebuild a team though? We can agree last season was unacceptable correct? I mean on and off the court was just not Indiana basketball. So now this past offseason we had some more "slip ups" off the court. I really want coach to succeed here because I think he is a great representative of the program WHEN he does what he knows he should do. In the 2011-13 seasons we played some good ball and the stats reflected that. I do wish he was able to adjust more both in game and dealing with players. I think it's possible to change but will he?

How about tweaking the new selling point to Mrs. Bryant...? Your son can come in and lead this team on and off the court. We have some damn fine kids here who are working hard at getting better on the court and improving themselves. You can come in and improve your game, work towards a top notch degree, and lead your teammates to better themselves. That type of leadership is invaluable to more than just a career in basketball.

So who's going to be the new Coach next year?
HoosierAloha replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
And how do you suggest, IF the grass fails to grow throughout the season, the grass be removed? -

I would love to fertilize that grass until it matures and is a very beautiful shade of crimson grass (what?!). However, what happens if that grass is unwilling to grow from the fertilizer being used? -

He's never coached at the college level right? That would be an interesting experiment that I would rather see at a different program. -
Agreed, I'm in a much much different field of work. Most people who begin working for me don't like me the "boss." It's the people who years down the road who have contacted me and thanked me for how I brought them up. Now, the difference I believe is I had to change my leadership mentality with different troops and sometimes with the same troop. A huge quality I would like to see in a coach at IU is the ability to adapt and overcome.

Pap, I have been thinking on this the last several weeks since things settled down "a bit" from the incident on Halloween. I think you summed up how I feel about the current regime at IU. Of course, everyone wants to win, everyone wants to see a product on the court that competes and wins at a high level. I feel what has turned me off is these kids just don't seem to get it. When the person in charge isn't getting his message across something has to change. I was that young Hoosier growing up idolizing Cheaney, Bailey, Henderson, etc. I felt Hulls, Zeller, Oladipo, Watford, had brought that culture back to IU. With "the movement" seems to have come a sense of entitlement. Coach had harped for so long that the kids came in hungry without a sense of entitlement. That has been reversed with the last couple of recruiting classes. I believe Yogi let it out that he was guaranteed a starting spot if he were to come to IU. What happened to earning everything you achieved? I feel like coach is fighting so much more stuff behind the scenes and some of that is internal. I believe he trusts his players and his system to a fault. What changes to see better results? Are we at the point that he needs to go for us to progress from a "rebuild" to a contender? Is he capable of rebounding and being the man that takes the program to the next level? A few sweet sixteens, a B1G title, perfect APR, and lottery picks are great for the rebuild. He needs to cleanup the act and take care of business, this is Indiana.
