I didn't watch the game but what I saw PSU was playing "around the world" while IU was playing "spin the Geronimo" to see who would leave their man WIDE OPEN.

My rant - I've been stuck on the mainland for too many years. I shall hopefully find myself over there sometime soon-ish too. Best of luck, I'd advise to make friends with locals through clubs, church, gatherings, etc. as quick as you can. It's awesome to visit places but even better to experience the local life and culture.

Move as fast as you can! I don't think I've ever heard anyone upset from their move over the pond.

I've been yelling about that for some time. He's slow of foot, indecisive, over helps without the ability to recover, and for some reason can't hold onto a basketball on rebounds or just isn't in position. I thought Kopp was your boy for some time on offense. Typically teams take on the personality of their coach and to some degree the older/better/more experienced players. What you described there (in bold) is exactly what I've been saying for years. When it is the overwhelming majority of players that have that the new/younger players aren't going to change it overnight. I'd disagree with attitude and resolve being strictly innate. I never played or coached college ball. I have spent a good portion of my life around highly competitive people. Our unit at work played intramural sports (yes I know, it's a completely different level way below college). We had a majority of players that hated to lose, not just at sports but in training, in card games, in work knowledge, in anything really, but had a few that were more passive or newer to the team trying to find their way. We always used to joke when we saw the switch flip and they went full dog against another team. "Yup, we can count on such and such in the field now." It was a way to measure whether we could trust them in other life situations. I don't see any of that with this team. I see an older player that doesn't really want to be a leader but wants to be accepted and liked. That attitude has trickled over to other players as they've come in and has been a team attitude for awhile. Two coaches haven't been able to change it. It's good talent has lead to great individual talent but that talent doesn't have leadership. Give me the dogs every day of the week and twice on whatever day we need a win.

    Dane Fife leaves IU staff

Just an FYI, we're 1-7 against Iowa (0-3), Northwestern (0-2), and Penn State (1-2) last season and this season. I guess we need everything to go right and for us not to be idiots breaking rules and such to win games against these Big 1.o powers.

Names? IU shouldn't be a difficult place to win but it's the situation the administration has put us in. As USPS has mentioned several times, you need either a system or talent to win. To win at an elite level, you need talented players that fit your system. We currently don't have the foundation conducive for elite talent. There are many reasons for that. I would focus on a coach with a system that can win at a high major who develops players and teams. The development isn't just in individual basketball skills but focuses on hard work (actual hard work not the BS talk about it), leadership, and identifies players with the right mindset. That carries over to bring together the right pieces and building a team with the same work ethic and mindset. We supposedly shot our shot with Stevens and now it has come out he used us. We're not going after any questionable character proven winners and proven winners with good character aren't giving IU a chance to talk. I believe it was Stevens or maybe another elite level coach who said they wouldn't work for or were warned about the IU administration.

Because they hear Woody and aren't listening? They don't truly respect or believe in him? They don't have enough pride? Or... Woody and staff aren't using the correct means to get through to the team? They're not teaching or instructing proper techniques? They're scout and game plan is off? Edit: they're not reinforcing what they are instructing/teaching i.e. using the bench/playing time as a reminder

You're telling me that an AA, two frosh that played for one of the elite prep schools winning two national championships, and a coaches son don't understand the game? There are some on this team that I would buy not understanding the game. I don't think we have a team full of players who are just not basketball players or don't understand the game. Jerome Hunter struggled here. He's been contributing to a winning effort lately when Sean Miller told him he was done shooting threes. When do we get a coach that sets roles and players execute those roles in a winning cause? When do we get players that are put in position to succeed by the coach?

Are we all on the same page now? Having XJ and Race out hurts this team but the attitude, e and e, leadership, basketball IQ, etc. remains the same. The reason this team lashed out on social media? They want to be liked and that comes straight from our best player and "leader." The same mistakes we were making against the cupcakes were always going to be magnified in the Big 1.o with or without XJ and Race. Where is the player development? Where is the basketball IQ (it's ******* IU!!!)? Where is the give a damn? Where is the leadership? Where is the coaching? Where is the pride from anyone associated with this program? Is your team struggling? Come play the Hoosiers to get right. How many points does Kopp give up to the dude with a lazy eye he was calling out on social media? (this was a major issue in the noncon too, nothing changed)

Why don't we get to the FT line more often? Watch TJD taking it to the rim there. He went away instead of going at the bucket.

This team wouldn't be that bad if they played in the late 70s through the mid 80s. Teams spurt while we sputter. Why do our freshmen, although really talented, look bad compared to others? We don't have a system, culture, leadership, etc. that is conducive to freshmen producing.

Because we gave up straight line drives second half of Iowa and the entire NW game. We can't stay in front of everyone because...? Athleticism? Want to? Know how? Something

I hate that we play decent for a stretch and then teams hit us with a quick run to take the lead. That's tough.

Over helping and leaving shooters open from deep against this team? That's certainly an interesting strategy.

This is the matchup that worries me too. He slots right in between our defenders. JG would be the ideal candidate to guard him if he was defending at a high level. Unfortunately, I feel we're going to see him dropping buckets on Gallo, Kopp, and possibly Bates.

I really hope PSU isn't hitting from deep. If they're on I'm not sure we could defend well enough to make an impact. We need to take care of the ball on top of continuing to hit shots.

I guess this is the de facto ranting place? Something that makes you go hmmm..."The Journey" commercial Trayce mentions something about this being his last year before having to grow up Edey mentions something about becoming the best player he can be I get that these are just small snippets of the entire episode they pull for the commercial. However, it's interesting to get a little of their thoughts and to see what portion they chose to air for a commercial for each individual.
