Why? What are you hoping to achieve by slapping him on his back/side?

Rogers (?) for Ill has had some good minutes too. I'd prefer a win because of what we did and not what the opponent is missing. A win is a win though right?

Possibly, my point was bringing a player like XJ back compared with a Race or Gallo is a little different. It's always possible XJ comes back and tries to do too much both shooting and making plays that aren't there. Gallo and Race don't typically press (Race has a bit at times) like XJ has a tendency to do. That could be good or bad.

Abilene Christian vs Grand Canyon has really good flow and pace. I thought that would be impossible with Larry Scirotto officiating. Which Big 1.o game will he be officiating in a few hours?

We could use the XJ that ended last season and the good from the Xavier and UNC games. I'm not sure the impact an XJ returning from injury while pressing would look with this team. He was already a hot/cold type player but if he's that cold and pressing... that could get extremely rough.

I'm not sure XJ is one of those players that returns from an injury with a smooth transition. We could certainly use his abilities but that could go south in a hurry.

IUWBB vs Michigan - Thursday, 2/16/23 @ 8:30 on BTN

These Hoosiers just keep attacking but at their pace and carving up defenses. It must be extremely frustrating to play against them. There are so many different weapons and they play together so well.

I don't know if it's necessarily $ from the tourney. I believe the manufactured parity and massive home court advantage that is achieved through *cough* horrible officiating *cough* is to get fans and stands and eyes on TV sets. It helps to have a massive logjam in the middle and teams "just barely" out of contention while fighting for a chance at a tourney birth.

That @Iowa, home to NW, and then completely forgetting we had a game @PSU stretch really stings!

I scored the first round in favor of purdoodoo on number of strikes but it was close Maryland has thrown more punches in this second round but purdoodoo still has a punchers chance or could possibly go for the submission. I hope Maryland beats the absolute dogshit out of the toiletmakers.

I did a little OSINT and figured out why we're having issues with Scirotto. He was fired as Police Chief because of discriminatory hiring and promotion practices. TJD's dad (or stepdad) was a police chief in Indy or Colorado or somewhere. Obviously, Scirotto's bias towards TJD led to him turning the ball over and giving a T to boiler Rick who happened to be sitting on IU's bench last night. You're welcome

Turned on the TV at lunch and it was on BTN, the first sentence I heard included the word "effort." When I glanced up they were talking about IU's lack of [effort] in the first half. They obviously didn't get the memo.

Pretty sure you're missing ~30 of my wins in there somewhere. Excellent run by fwgreenway there for a few years.

Hopefully it's not a repeat of the Maryland performance and Reese.

Perception - we've hired someone to clean this up but it's going to take time is the officiating way of saying it'll take 3 years to never to learn the defensive scheme.

Factor in fans in the stands and TV deals and we start to get a clearer picture. Anytime you have a question just follow the money to find your answers

Will let you know after seeing how the team is playing. I know for certain it won't be our fault if we end up losing.

Think the conversation focused on NW fans being big meanies to Kopp, even though IU fans filled the arena, and how that would never occur at the Hall. Solid effort from the nonexistent NW student section.

I think many people are getting wrapped around the turnover where Hummel mentioned lots of contact. We turned it over 13 times. I can recall 4 (TJD dribbling off his leg, TJD tossing it over Kopp's head, JHS trying to takeout the shot clock, Gallo's bad pass to Race) where we might have had pressure but there wasn't a foul. Which is easier to control - a little discipline that would cut down on the majority of your turnovers or forcing the officials to call a foul that forced a few of the turnovers? That's ballgame. TJD, for some reason, decided he was going to bring the ball down in the paint. I believe that accounted for several of his TOs and missed shots in the first half.

It is what it is. I haven't watched a Big 1.o game this season and thought it was well officiated. Did you watch the first half and say dang IU had a great game plan and played with effort and focus? The officiating wasn't good, although we did get a few makeup calls that nobody seems to mention.

Outside of the obvious things (turnovers, shooting, defending) we'll need to limit our fouls in the tourney too. We've fouled at a pretty high rate all season and if we play the same way in the tourney we will make an early exit. The turnover trend will be a major factor too. The last major concern I have is with teams (like NW) that have several guards where we can't hide Kopp on defense and he's not taking and making shots on offense.

I remember hearing analysts mention how team x can't wait to get to the tourney so they're not playing conference foes. The translation there was they play a different style that is more conducive to winning than football on the hardwood. As long as the Big 1.o keeps bringing in the $$$ and coaches like Painter, Izzo, and whoever is at Wiscy has influence we'll have this type of "basketball."
