(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU
HoosierAloha replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Let's hope his leadership trajectory is slightly different. Sheehey had a role on the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 team and was exceptional in that role. -

No idea the accuracy of this site but here is the 2022 contract salaries. The 15th pick had an $18 million contract. That's... solid money https://boardroom.tv/nba-rookie-contracts-salary-scale-2022-23/ -

I would have liked to force Iowa to catch the ball over the top or on the other half of the court. Catching the ball and going to your right for a right handed shooter is much easier than the opposite. I have a feeling the staff and team learned from this experience and will be better for it. All of their goals are still attainable. I hate losing and excuses but this might have made the team more hungry for the next few weeks. -

We're not a program that will get a talent like JHS at PG every recruiting class. We need to continue to get multiyear PGs that will develop or more experienced PGs through the portal. When a talent like JHS comes along you obviously take him but don't believe relying on a frosh PG every season is a winning formula. It would be interesting to see how this season had played out without XJ being injured. Does JHS continue to facilitate and take over when needed? Does he play and score more off ball with XJ running the show? -

I believe it's dependent on the individual and their situation. There are players that need the NBA for whatever reason (money, focus on development over school, coaches, etc.) while others might be able to delay it for a year or they enjoy their current situation. How many rookies actually make an immediate impact? Defining immediate impact as being a rotation player or better. -

We're going back to the Super Bowl!! Take care of the ball, compete, and rebound. It would be really nice to see us round out our offense with TJD getting his in the post and us taking and making shots from deep. I want to see a collective stare down of franimal from the student section -

I'm confused by what you're saying here. You want JHS to fall later in the first round so he'll be drafted by the Knicks but you want him to stay at IU to develop into a top 5 pick so it forces management to play him? -

How much do you think IU/collectives are dishing out in NIL money for JHS? It's nice to dream that IU could match an NBA salary but we're discussing reality here. He wouldn't be close to making the same amount of money at IU as he would as a first round draft pick. -

I was wondering this strategy in the women's game. 1.5 seconds up 1 with needing to rebound the ball and call a timeout. Just calling the timeout has to take 0.6 seconds right? That leaves you with a catch and shoot situation, at best, on the other end. -

Glad I'm "arguing" with myself. There is no backpedaling here. As stated in my original post, JHS is gone to the NBA after this season. He will be drafted in the first round if not the lottery. -

My struggle is seeing how the exception to the rule determines the rule. Cody is a rare example and there was more than just the skills there. The ties to Indiana, what he meant to IU, and what the program was going through at that time played a major role in him returning. JHS doesn't have those ties. Dang, didn't know Romeo was injured again and he remains in the NBA despite those injuries. I guess he made the right choice leaving after one season. He has what NBA teams want and will be drafted in the first round, potentially lottery after this season. -

Something that wasn't really discussed was how well we took care of the ball. We didn't have the turnovers for touchdowns that we had in previous road games. This will be extremely important in postseason games. -

Not a good end to the first quarter but nice bounce back after the first few minutes. This team is different. -
Completely agree, it's crazy to think it's still a quad 1 loss.

Please tell me how the situations between Cody Zeller and JHS are the same. Romeo is still playing in the NBA 4 (?) years later and has made quite a lot of money. JHS is a more complete player with just as much upside. There will be several teams willing to taking him in the first round and continue his development. Stay in school making limited money while having to attend classes and such or go to the NBA where you make more, your life is about developing, and have access to world class coaches and staff to develop. Up top we both know the obvious choice, a foot lower and we both would love a sophomore year. -
Absolutely, what people say initially is what they truly feel about the situation. It seems like the whole situation is just a burden for Oats because it's distracting to his team. Whether I like it or not, athletes and programs have a massive influence for better or worse. This will be used by PR folks as how not to handle a situation.

He what?! Again, as in my initial post, it's extremely insensitive and shouldn't have been done. Further, he shouldn't have provided the gun. Those are absolutely true. It's possible Miller and his teammate have been doing that all season with the intent to imitate a fighter going into the ring/octagon. Why do you think it wasn't presented as such in the media? Regardless of the intent of the pregame player introduction ritual, it was insensitive and shouldn't have been done.

Completely different situations His offensive ups and downs this season have little to do with where he'll be drafted. His measurables and potential have him safely in the first round and possibly a lottery pick. Where did Langford get drafted? 14th? A shooting guard that didn't show much in the shooting department. JHS would be one hell of a sophomore. The chances of that happening is on par with Josh making the PGA tour. -

I guess that could include a neutral site win over Maryland which would be an 11-8 record. IU could get 3 Q1 games in the Big 1.o Tourney.
