I didn't think you were dogging Yogi. I believe this gets lost in many conversations on here when we talk about weaknesses (or areas for improvement if we're going the super positive route). Yogi was fantastic at IU, he could have been better (we can all be better), but eventually figured it out that led to some team success while he was the leader. Yogi had something few players have had at IU - elite speed and quickness. He did dribble, pass, shoot, and defend too.
-
Yogi had the ability to lead (good or bad). He enjoyed the college life outside of basketball his sophomore and junior years while maturing. I'm hoping Cupps has the same ability but has his priorities set on becoming the best player he can be while dragging others along.

We won ours the "right way" while you can't say the same for UConn!

Love is in the air, the wind could be blowing northwest today. Love isn't cheap though.

Bill Walton is in a league of his own few can even see. GOAT gets thrown around too often but Walton is the GOAT.

Couldn't even make it to the championship game -
On the topic of transfers and predictions Are Bates and Geronimo in the portal yet? Are we still waiting on individual meetings?
-
I believe we still have some good news coming soon about some instate prospects in one of the upcoming classes. Just wait a bit longer ;)

Good on JHS and wishing him the best. Thank you for choosing IU for your one year and putting in the work. A related note

Among the elite and blue blood programs we seem to be the slowest to adapt to the "evil" necessities of winning at a high level.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?
HoosierAloha replied to southernindianahoosier2's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We took another small step up the mountain. Will we sit down and take a rest after positive momentum the last two season or will we take another step? Elite is consistently competing in the noncon against other top teams, consistently finishing towards the top of your conference while winning every few years, winning your conference tourney, and making it to and past Sweet 16. We're not in the conversation of being elite. There is too much there that we've never accomplished or haven't accomplished consistently in years/decades. I believe we need big changes to be elite but that's a different conversation. -
Almost like IU fans are a little behind the times or having difficulty seeing withe their crimson colored contacts through their crimson colored glasses. We'll get there... eventually

Only if he provided enough energy and effort along with intelligence and intensity with competence and competitiveness.

Think we're heading to Houston if Duncomb didn't have sinus surgery.

Indiana Players Now In The Portal
HoosierAloha replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You could include the noncon against cupcakes. I believe a few were convinced Duncomb would be a solid contributor next season off a few minutes of run against the pastries this past season. Then we move into the phase of excuse making. Rinse and repeat. -

Goodness, I'd hope you realize this isn't the way I process information provided here or anywhere else. I would hope you could form your own opinions but that doesn't go for everyone. -

How I wish this were true and group think didn't exist like that. We're human and are influenced by others. Research in other areas we can't mention here prove this but we can't go into that. I don't have the privilege of inside sources on this topic like some do. I have to rely on what those inside sources provide to form my opinion. I'm glad we can get that inside information to influence our opinions. -
Love this and wish this could be what all sports represent. Step between the lines and you compete to destroy your competition. After the game you congratulate your opponent and wish them the best. Like you said, class act and I'll be rooting for coach Tang. I believe he's a good leader to teach the next generation on and off the court.

Good, I'll go back to thinking he's a turd again. Can you imagine being an assistant and not being able to land a single recruit to I freaking U?! haha How bad do you have to suck at your job? -

Absolutely, it should but as we both know there are influences to the way we think. I was simply checking to see if the winds had shifted to where we should think Fife could get the job done this time. -

No need to apologize. Your response to whether we liked Fife this week confused me. I guess we could bring Knight back on staff for discipline consulting. -

There are no sides. I was trying to determine if we still thought Fife was a turd after everything he did to negatively impact IU or if he was back in our good graces. -
TJD loaded up on points, rebounds, blocks and such to be considered statistically one of the all time greats at IU. He has a play in and first round win to show for it. As you know, there is a lot more that goes into it than just the skills of the individual.

I took it as bringing Fife back despite what we were told he did to sabotage the program for his one season at IU. I guess I don't understand how he would be really good after doing so many things wrong in his one season as an assistant at IU. -

Just checking which way the wind is blowing this week. Would Fife be a good assistant if he's against NIL, pissed off Indiana high school coaches, couldn't land recruits, thought he was the coach in waiting, and was generally an @$$? Just trying to clarify how it was a good thing he was fired but would also be a good thing to have him return.
