(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
HoosierAloha replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Would really like to add Ware and a Ledlum or Battle to the front court. Ware appears to be able to play alongside Reneau or Sparks. My only concern would be to have Ledlum or Battle playing primarily as the 3. I'm not sure if we'd have the quickness to do as much on defense. Although, if Ware can play off a 4 or 5 on defense to provide help it might work. Either way this turns out I have my posts all typed out and ready to go! -
They deserve that after giving us a beat down and then eliminating us from the Big 1.o tourney. Hopefully we get them twice this season when they can't field a competitive team.

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to O$U via Indiana

Interesting, I use the term to encompass many different qualities that would represent many letters. It's as much of a style of play as it is a mindset. I believe most look at it from a physicality standpoint of getting up in your opponent or rebounding. I'd take it a step further to include not only wanting to beat your opponent but to leave zero doubt who is better. This can include more finesse players that get buckets or have a mindset they know they're going to make shots. We've lacked this mentality for a long time but have done a fantastic job of celebrating dunking or blocking regardless if we were winning. Cupps can make an impact as a freshman by bringing that mentality and work ethic to the program. I'd love to get a freshman that puts in the work, gets some PT as a reward, and forces teammates to follow suit. I don't think we've had a lot of competition as to who the starters, role players, and mop up players have been for awhile. -

Why do you loathe the term "dawgs?" What would you in its place? -
Thought we had inside information that he was a go several times until the story that he'd try to come back next season?

There has to be a precedence to make the program believe XJ gets a waiver or he wasn't healthy enough. I just can't imagine we **** it up that bad.

Has WayneFleek said we're definitely going to suck next season? I see a lot of posts references what we need to compete and questioning whether pieces fit but I don't see him spamming we're going to suck. We had some good pieces this season and didn't really win anything but I don't think the sum was much better than the individual parts. We will suck if we don't get some complimentary pieces to build out a good team next season. I don't see the parts we currently have stepping up as starters on a team that competes to win things next season. I'm not looking for all stars but pieces that lead, compete, and play as a team.

UConn - 17, 16, 10, 9, 7, 7 IU - 21, 14, 8, 8, 6 Kansas - 19, 14, 11, 11, 9 IU - 18, 12, 11, 6, 6 Baylor - 17, 16, 14, 9, 8 IU - 19, 11, 11, 9, 7 I don't think what Knight's teams did 3+ decades ago really matter in the current landscape of college basketball. We need multiple players who can score at multiple levels to make it difficult for opponents to game plan against us. Edit: I think Ware gives us a piece we don't currently have but could work well with some players we do have. IF there are concerns about intangibles then you make expectations clear and surround him with players that possess the intangibles. There is something to throwing 3-4 bigs/big wings into the mix and making them earn PT. -
What kind of NIL deals are you requesting?
-
Did you already transfer? Where is there?
-
Really want to see what type of work Reneau puts in this off-season. He does some really nice things but still has plenty to expand his game and get better. If he becomes more versatile that gives us more options to pair him with other bigs when portaling.
-
He's transferring within the Big 1.o?

Any inside info when Essegian is going to commit?

How do you know someone is stressing out or panicking through text when they're expressing what is playing out doesn't align with how they see us being successful? Feels like some are projecting their stress/panicking? While many really liked our roster and team last season I wasn't sold. We did some good things but struggled in other areas. For me discussing who fits and who doesn't is part of the fun. The one thing about Reneau, Sparks, and the VCU kid I like is slightly different skills and reports that they're workers. I can get on board with that. I don't like the fact the lane might be clogged more than it was this past season. If we get some guards/small wings that can get to the rim and a system that allows we can play with two bigs who don't score from outside.

How do %s look in this situation? Virginia is much like Wiscy in the past where their leading scorer average 9 ppg was like a 20 point scorer at another program. (slight hyperbole)

Results the last 20ish years seem to be similar to Knights too right?
-
I want it to be true so I'll listen to inside sources when they tell me what I want to hear.

JMo and OG both had great improvements but not sure it was on the same level as VO. Those two are of the mold I'd like to see us have for "big wings" in a modern offense.

I like playing in these preseason events but this could be bad or great for SOS Texas and UConn should be good to great next season. Regardless it provides and opportunity for us to be on the national stage and rebuild our brand. Hoping we get UConn/Texas and they both have excellent seasons. With this event and Kansas we should get at least 2 good games. Is there another game with Arizona or was that a one off?

It seemed like there were many players entering Cook Hall or already in Cook Hall every time I walked by there a few years back. I'm not surprised CTM has that program going in the right direction.

There may or may not be... good to know. Sure it matters, it's a likelihood and environment scenario. You recruit a certain player with characteristics that improve their chances. You create an environment for development. This was my point about TJD developing differently in a different situation.

I would agree on OG. There have been several who have steadily developed their game but few who have really made that massive jump. Steady improvement every offseason from the majority of your core group can take you a long way if you start with the right talent.
