(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA

I'm not coming at VO5 or anyone else I'm just saying what I have/haven't heard. -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
hoosierpap replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have reason to believe that doesn't happen. I think a lot of this UCLA stuff is a baseless reaction/paranoia that he hasn't committed yet. Maybe it's out there, but it hasn't come to my inbox at all. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

The fact that he won't commit to an MSU official tells you a lot...something would have to change. -
(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.

Recruiting is most obviously about connections. A lot of times those run deep. Fran coached as an assistant and recruiting coordinator under Phelps at Notre Dame for over 10 years. So he spent 10 years building relationships and connections. Also, Sherman Dillard, current assistant, was a head coach at Indiana State. They can get in the door but.... -

Still nothing to suggest this isn't IU. It is as it stands, but UCLA has a bit of pull here with the family. Something would have to change for it to swing that way but it did for Wilkes in Aug/Sept. Every recruitment is different, so I hate bringing that up...suppose that's paranoia. -
(2020) PG - Caleb Love

I haven't seen him play in person but, as demo said, people who have seem talk highly of him. I'm down with the offer. -

I wouldn't worry about that here. -

Received some more pro-IU conformation here. We'll see what happens after visits but IU is in front at this time -

It's also interesting to see the shift in recruiting. Archie clearly focuses on the upcoming class ('19) while doing some evaluation/recruiting on the next. Under Crean, IU being on a kid for 4 years or so never really panned out. Honestly, it wore on the kids and they soured. I like the approach and expect IU to follow '19 hard this month. IU is going to have to look outside the state for '20 -

IU was sold before the team camp. They're going to try but the competition is going to be fierce. I never feel good about kids from the south or west. I know that seems arbitrary but there is something to it. -

It looks like IU is waiting to see how '19 goes before offering Leal- which is the right approach, imo. And the staff's focus is on '19, I think you'll see that in the coming weeks. -
(2019) SG Brandon Newman to Purdue
hoosierpap replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Exactly. OV's before July eval on a top kid indicate an impending commitment. If it doesn't happen and it goes until fall, something changed. Could things swing back, sure, it's recruiting. But IU should know the general situation in the next week and a half -
(2019) PG DJ Carton to Ohio State

I think you'd have to say this weekend is the most important point in IU's recruiting efforts since the Romeo commitment. Almost for sure he'll have a "great" visit but we'll see if the staff can edge out UM here. I'll try to dig in on this -

Like Gnarly said, if Archie wants him I think he gets him. Slow playing it is smart at this point though -
(2018) PG - Kira Lewis to Alabama

A visit is going to have to change things because nobody seems to confident he's getting out of the South at this point. I do like this kid a lot. -
(2019) PF Isaiah Stewart to Washington
hoosierpap replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It went well. Crean's visit's always went well, too. I'm told IU is basically in the second tier right now. Something is going to have to change to get him to Bloomington. -

Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?
hoosierpap posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Chip Miller @BLUEChip_Miller Report: Rick Pitino Interested in the UNLV Coaching Job . STORY "It might be fantasy, but now is the time for that. This is the beginning stage of a search for the next UNLV basketball coach, a search expected to extend at least two more months, and the right answer when it ends could be Rick Pitino. Many observers will immediately dismiss the idea as laughable and unrealistic. But there are some reasons to entertain the possibility. First and foremost, a source with connections to Pitino insists he is interested in the job, 15 years after his brief flirtation with Las Vegas. He went to Louisville in March 2001 and has not looked back — until now." "Still, Pitino has several influential friends in Las Vegas, and if the most powerful boosters are serious about returning the program to the big time, it's time for the deepest-pocketed boosters and some of the university's clumsy administrators to lose a small-time mentality and shoot for a major star." Even if the cost is around $4 million per year? "If Pitino is interested, the money would be there," a source close to UNLV said Friday." Dick Vitale @DickieV 13h13 hours ago No way RICK PITINO will be the next coach of UNLV / I have a better chance of being a sex sympol in Hollywood! Probably just wild rumors, but given the investigation who knows. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
hoosierpap replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
No problem. I think we've talked about it around here but if Khaliq hadn't moved on I'm not so sure Keion would be in IU's backyard, relatively speaking. This just confirms he'll be at North Side for the duration of the recruitment. -

This happens all the time, breaks no rule, and is honestly just scratching the surface of some of the stuff that goes on. I would have the same take if it was UK, UL, PU, whoever because we're dealing with facts.
