1) I said we'd miss Troy when it was up in the air if he went pro. You can't lose that and Yogi, I can pull it up if need be. 2) Newkirk is very fast but plays slow. When he goes he goes, slightly slower than Yogi, but I never know what I'm getting w him. And agreed on the shot. 3) My entire point. Crean has to get creative here. He wasn't but tried to force it w IPFW and JBJ. He can try again, I'm just saying I have 2 years of HS video and 2 more years of CBB sent to me that says this isn't who JBJ can be. He is essential to this team, but not in that way. Who can it be? I'm asking.

(2017) SF Jordan Tucker- OV 11/30/16

Let's not act like we have him. But this is a 6'7 shooter with some interesting handle. I just get the vibe that we'll "miss him when he's gone." Hope I'm wrong if he goes elsewhere Lol well wish the best on the kid. Develop in the NBA :) -
Haven't gotten around to this and hope no one cares at this point, but.... My two biggest fears coming into this game were revealed here. I already voiced the PG issue. I'm not sold. The second has less to do with Yogi the PG than it does Yogi the player. This team doesn't have a guy who can get their own shot when they need to. When teams slow down Indiana and they get into their half court set, it results in a lot of short shot clock offense. By that I mean under 10 sec. Now, I don't have a percentage on this- and you aren't going to get an accurate perspective tomorrow- but I'll see what I can come up with in more meaningful games. Also, someone will say "what about a play that develops late" and they're right, fail or success that needs to be taken into the equation. I'll cut those out, too. Still, there are tons of situations where exactly what I'm talking about occur and they are important especially in late-game situations...So that is the PROBLEM Anyways, Yogi was that guy. The offense stalls in the half court (as they do in Crean's half-court system) and having a guy who can beat his man and create for himself becomes imperative. Yogi was that guy. Who is it now? What is the SOLUTION? I know this...it isn't Rojo, JBJ, or OG. It just isn't who they are. Maybe Newkirk if he takes a some steps, and quickly. Honestly, I don't see it. Juwan...so versatile, but that just isn't him. Cujo and Green...freshman and just not there yet. Green, in my mind, will be that guy but he isn't now and doesn't have that role...so no. Who am I missing? Who can be that guy?

I get your POV. His production hasn't been consistent, but I love his skill set and how he could fit in Crean's system. -

It's a perceived failure. It's in your head. You don't know IU's 2016-2017 basketball recruiting budget, you don't know how and what classes it was spent on, and it's November 20th- meaning there is another signing period. You can try to throw it in my face that I'm being "positive"...the above is the reality. Those are the terms i'm living in. -

You don't know IU's recruiting budget this year, you don't know the end result of the class. That is the reality. -

But you haven't seen IU's recruiting budget for the last "6 months or so." And even if you did, that includes 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 kids. Soooo... If you want to say IU shouldn't have visited recruit A...cool. I'm sure the staff has a waaayyy better idea of the situation than me, you, or anyone here. -

That is what I'm saying. People are referencing IU's "wasted resources" based on recruiting budgets from previous years. IU is ranked 5th or 6th in the country. That is the return on investment. They complained then about the same things. Idk if you're agreeing with me or what the issue is -

This is actually an interesting conversation. I think IU has recognized this and there has been sommeeewhaatt of a change to the early offers both in and out of the state. The weird thing about the in-state crowd is whatever strategy you go with, you have to go with. Right now I know of one 2018 situation they've gotten themselves in some trouble with by offering others. These kids all know each other in-state and if player A has and offer player B at the same position sees it as a slap in the face, per se. Also, the early recruitment has some backlash with some recruits. For some, it's totally positive. "IU was the first to believe in me, they've been there since the beginning, I'm a hoosier." Others, it gets stale. How you read that going into a recruitment....idk. But there is room for improvement from this staff. I'm not sure I have the empirical data to support that IU is changing the early offer philosophy- someone could certainly figure it out- but I've heard it's something the staff is aware of. -

Since we're all talking about budgets in the past, unrelated to 2017...here is the ROI... http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings 8 hours ago, AKHoosier said: I think it's pretty clear that Wilkes just wasn't ever going to come here. What more could Tom Crean have done to try and land him? His message was duly noted, but it was largely falling on deaf ears. You can move into his family's guest bedroom and recruit a kid until you're blue in the face but ultimately, Wilkes just didn't want to come here. I don't fault Crean for not landing Wilkes, I fault Wilkes and his questionable logic for choosing UCLA. Expand on how you were wrong? Well, Wilkes seriously considered IU. Idk if you think having IU in the top three was for show or what, but it wasn't. IU got beat, fair and square. Wilkes had his heart with IU but head told him UCLA was a better basketball fit. I'm not questioning Wilkes' logic at all. -

OG is gone. Was way closer to leaving than TB last year. To your side note...the efficiency argument has never made sense to me. It's budgeted for. You expect better results based on a concrete number spent on plane rides? That is not how recruiting works. At ALL. I'm down for the conversation though -

AK, you couldn't be more wrong. Wayne, same. I know, at least Wayne, doesn't believe me on Wilkes which is TOTALLY fine but for the masses this is truly conjecture in it's definition. Just don't need the Wilkes thing feeding the larger narrative... -

Bill Self. Kansas wins always and is in the national spotlight Elite guys don't care as much about player development and what other elite guys did. They (or their people) are fully confident as themselves as a player. College is a 9 month commitment. Who they'll target?Tucker. Diallo and a bunch of guys I don't know they're on right now. Hard to guess which way Crean will turn come Jan/Feb but did hear they're looking for Tucker to visit later in the season
