(2018) PF Darius Days to LSU
hoosierpap replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
As solid as Days looks, I'm a bit confused on this. It's a real offer and all, not saying that. 1) My understanding is this is a major uphill battle. Is devoting time and resources worth it given... 2) It's my opinion that IU should be selective with how they finish out this class due to how it impacts '19. I know the argument of bird in hand, but IU is prioritizing guys in '19 who are going to overlap with several kids already on the roster- and they are continuing to recruit for '18. IU has a real shot with guys like Matthew Hurt, Keion Brooks, TJD. 3) It's beginning to look like Archie's desire to fill this class may just be bc it's his first year. Start to get your players, and your type of players on the roster. Maybe that's smart. I tend to think class imbalance and, thus, impending attrition is bad practice in all situations. -

No, just messing with you. I think I was in traffic- and traffic is wild around here- and didn't believe the offer....which turned out to be right. I thought I came back and explained myself but maybe I didn't. -

I think it sort of used to be like that. But, to their credit, it doesn't make a ton of sense to have hard set rules on that bc classes have different levels of talent. Now, it seems like they rate players and anyone over .92 gets a 4 star. So, 2018 the cut off is 120. 2019, they clearly need to evaluate more (or they think the class is loaded) bc there are about 222 4/5 stars (rating above .92). -

Some of that may be old news but was new to me. Basic question is if you can only take one of the two, who ya got? -

Where does everyone stand on Henry vs. Anderson. IU obviously got Anderson, but I was talking to a guy yesterday who was telling me Henry was ready to commit but now doesn't expect it. I've never seen either play live, but have followed them for a few years. Same guy was just talking about how Henry's game has grown significantly and it was his preference that Henry was the better prospect going forward. With only seeing highlights, I'm going with his judgement- but hope to be wrong. -

I think this is where our differences lie...I'm not saying RP is the difference maker. My backing for RP assumes he provides backup minutes year 1 and 2, and possible starter minutes year 3 and 4. IU needs a PG. Going forward, they need a true, pure PG. Someone who orchestrates the offense, commands the defense, takes care of the damn ball. That isn't Green. That isn't Jones. That isn't Durham. Look, IU can over-recruit him if the talent swings their way. But RP is important at this point. -

These guys are looking at the next level. 6'2-6'5 could dominate as a 2/3 at the HS level. Where does it project at the collegiate level? 1/2. Where does it project at the pro level? 1. So they better be playing PG at the collegiate level to show that skill set. It's a conversion vs. a natural position. Some guys make it work and are successful. Maybe that's Devoe, maybe thats Hinton. Maybe. -

I agree. I mean, I care about more than just turnovers but length/height is about the last thing I care about for my PG. I'm actually surprised to see that be such a big factor for people. Yogi was IU's best on ball defender at 5'11, he was quick and moved his feet. Position-less basketball is a thing 2-4, you can maybe stretch the 5. PG is still a position and a position that requires a skill set and acumen MOST CG's simply lack. I need to see full games on any CG, as a rule, to decide if I'm comfortable for him being a PG. Hopefully, Archie is taking a long look if that's his plan. -
