(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
hoosierpap replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
LINK-ZAGS BLOG "Rawle Alkins, the 6-foot-5 2016 Christ the King guard, was among those on hand at Seton Hall Friday night and also has upcoming visits planned to Villanova (Oct. 24) and Indiana (Oct. 25), he told SNY.tv. He will also trip to either Providence or N.C. State the weekend of Oct. 17." -
I would if I could. I don't really know but I can find out. I just heard they are approaching it a little different, "hipper", with some more things aimed at recruits.

I would love to see Davis make it to HH. He seems to be atop IU's wishlist at the moment so I can't imagine IU not pushing for it. Heard HH is going to be a little different this year, in a good way. IU really would benefit from getting their top targets in, obviously.

(2015) SG Corey Johnson to Harvard
hoosierpap replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Idk Wayne. SMU has been mentioned with 2015 guards as has Oklahoma accepted a commitment on 9/24 from Rashard Odomes, a 6-6 SG. I honestly am not sure what you make of it. If I were IU and Shake was torn the way I am hearing he is, I would begin to inquire about other potential 2015's. -
I can see that being troublesome if IU's '15 class size is 3 by then.

Obviously, the topic of roster management is a large one - and will probably be one of the most remembered aspects of the Crean era. I'm referring to oversigning, transfers, one and dones, "creaning"; standing vs. holding offers, and whatever else. I (and others) have noticed how the topic seems to take over several threads. I'm throwing no stones - it's natural when talking IU basketball to talk about how the roster is being assembled and maintained. Having said that, I thought making a separate thread to discuss and debate these issues may be beneficial. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts because I skim by most of it when it's spread amongst several threads...

(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami
hoosierpap replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
IU is all in on Guy. He is just as open as can be. -
I don't think you should be worried about who believes you or not. Who cares? You know what you know and I'm not doubting that. You've been pretty consistent and that's what I look for. PM me, I really can't find a circumstance outside of (maybe, and I mean maybe) one that I can see bugging people.

The topic of roster management in general, and more specifically, the oversign is such a large one that I cannot possibly write a single post about it without it becoming too long for anyone's liking. So I'll start small and welcome people picking at it. I have no real moral issue with the oversign like some do. I really couldn't care less that a kid is given an opportunity to play at the highest level of collegiate basketball and doesn't prove themselves over someone in a class behind them. If they were valuable enough, the coach would not "recruit over" them. Kid's are fickle (I can provide a list of 2014 transfers if you'd like) and Crean hasn't booted anyone. Maybe a tighter leash with two I can think of, but again, we're back to the kid having an opportunity. The problem (in my mind :D) is that it doesn't matter what I think. It matters what recruits, and moreso their coaches, think. It isn't helping within the state and I know that first hand. The real issue - and oversigning appears to be a part of it - is overall roster instability. I'm ready to get into the nuances of roster instability if anyone wants to, but it really is as simple as this...Under CTC IU brings in freshmen in need of development (3*, 4*) and cycles out developing 3*'s and 4*'s (sophmores/juniors). Now think about that and tell me how that could possibly lead to success.

I think you're going to see Vermont Academy going forward. Chuck has some connections and Crean used their head coach, Alex Popp's review as a big part of his evaluation regarding Holt. -
(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

It's a strange tactic. It's backfired on IU before, idk, I guess it's in the presentation but more often than not it comes off as desperate. -
(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU
hoosierpap replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
OU hurt themselves on that last sneak visit (Sept. 13th) pushing things, I know that. To me, that suggests that they did not want the IU visit to happen for fear Shake would chose IU. That doesn't seem like too much of a stretch, does it? This doesn't change the family/close to home issue, but that is what I am hearing -

Nothing, except he comes to town this weekend. The visit could get IU into the conversation going forward. Everyone knows the Syracuse and Mizzou ties are strong and a visit is about all I can see changing that.
