(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy

Honestly, given the current roster, I think it's imperative to have one eye on the team, one eye on recruits. -

Agreed. Which is why Archie gets a leash until he has a majority of HIS players, in my book. Reactive society + Fan(atics) = Extreme reaction...I get it, but let's take some deep breaths -

An update and a caution... I've done some digging in response to some PM's this evening. Basically, DG has made a decision. He's also not telling anyone what that decision is outside of his family. A lot of misinformation is coming out of Brentwood and Nashville which is largely based on old information. Some of that is happening on IU's side, as well. The thought remains that in the end, home will win. That was stated to me as a guess based on talk around the town- not a fact. I caution everyone reading "inside information" to question it. You would have to be extremely close to the situation to call this one with anything more than a guess. This type of recruitment is prime for new insiders because they've got a 50/50 shot and not a whole lot to lose. -

No one is getting weepy. You lay out a totally different situation and use it as reason why someone totally different should make a decision to make you happy. Neat. -

I've been largely absent to this thread...but that has to be one of the more ignorant takes I've seen here. Maybe his two friends who he plays bball with who are going to Vandy for FB mean something to him? Maybe he realizes he'll be on NBA road trips the rest of his life? Maybe his current family and social life is important to him and he realizes it'll be strained sooner rather than later? Come on, man. -

"I don't think a decision has been made so anyone claiming to know is BS'in you. That said I think he stays home. Thats the thought" Email from someone not around Tenn but does this for a living. Take it for what it's worth, but he's kept me informed over the years -

I hesitate to post anything because this still could go till the spring. I know some will see that as an "out" but it's a reality in my world- recruitments change. Anyway, I continue to hear how sold the family is on Archie. I think RL is IU bound. Now, I thought the same about this time with Kris Wilkes. I don't think I had bad info there. I just think UCLA was able to seal the deal on the visit. It went like this...End of Sept IU OV, Crean got him back mid-Oct for an UV, then to UCLA a few days later for an OV. After that visit, I knew things were not in good shape. Wilkes was buying into their message of what Los Angelas could provide for him year round and going there, seeing it, sealed it. I didn't know realize how close UCLA had gotten that summer and early fall. Could I be wrong? Sure. Could KU be Wilkes' UCLA? I guess. The difference here is Romeo has taken his officials and people still aren't changing what they're saying about Romeo. The Langford's don't let a ton out which has led to a lot of speculation/rumors in NA, but one thing has been consistent out of that town since Archie took over... -

That may mean something. Jerry grew up in Nashville (Dad coached Lipscomb) and I think he, himself has coached in the area at some levels. He still lives there so his contacts are probably solid. -

Sorry man, I don't. No updates post IU OV. Before the visit it was Vandy and I have that on pretty good word. IU would have had to flip that -

I don't think it means a ton. I think the visit meant a ton but Jerry Meyer isn't getting scooped any more than informed by what the Langfords put out there. He may be getting it from someone directly covering it, but I don't think many people are getting a ton of info other than what the family is putting out publicly. That's the what I'm told. Focus more on comments in the articles and those covering it. I do think the Kansas comments are somewhat significant. Sure, he's probably more likely to make the trip but it's not all that often the idea of cancelling is entertained and then made public. I'd look more into Kansas' involvement this week than anything Jerry Meyer predicts. -

Honestly, not sure that could have gone better barring a spur of the moment commitment...which if you've been following this one you know wasn't happening -
