I was watching with two girls and a guy who is really into sports but prefers the NBA (Sixers) and they all last night said, in some form or fashion, "wow, we need to watch more CBB." That's literally after this same group watched the Sixers/OKC go 3 OT's on Friday. I really do feel good about Archie. He is maximizing talent with the exception of Rojo- and I know he had a good game yesterday. Rojo seems to just be inconsistent on both ends dating back to the back half of Yogi's last year. Maybe he'll turn it around. The most obvious maximizing of talent is JM. Part of that has to do with the lack of scorers on this team, sure. But CTC would have him out on the 3pt line, not under the hoop where he is most effective. It seems like a small, almost obvious, adjustment, but he's got JM to buy in. A guy who was most likely sold by CTC for years going back to his recruitment on being versatile as his path to the NBA. -

This is a slightly wild accusation which ran rampant at the time also. This doesn't account for the fact that Rick Brunson was fully qualified for this job. And people irresponsibly compared this to an issue going on with Skal Labissiere and his "guardian." That was happening at the time, but there are so many that this one has been lumped into. I just hate when there is no nuance or context to these discussions and we just accuse the recruitment of being dirty or "gray." Rick Brunson was a Temple alum, inducted into their HOF, assistant coach with 3 NBA franchises, Director of Basketball Operations at UVA- qualified for the position. Also, father of a top prospect. To me, if this was IU and they DIDN'T use that connection for a qualified open assistant position I'd be leading the protest with my pitchfork. "Turn his son's recruitment into a chance for an assistant coaching gig" is just off, and frankly, cynical and tells me a bit of where you're at with CBB. Also, important to note that Jalen grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ, which is directly over the bridge to Philadelphia. He spent his days at what was then the Wachovia Center watching his Dad, as the towel boy, and actually, after he was cut by the Sixers, he stayed in Cherry Hill while Rick bounced around the league. Also, Jalen's Mom is a Temple alum and is where his Dad and Mom meant. I mean, there are tons of reasons why Temple was in this... Rick was accused of sexual abuse of a massage therapist and his name was, and had to be, removed from consideration at the time. He has since been acquitted on all charges but about a year and a half later. Anyways, not sure I can see a kid walking into a situation at Temple with all that going on (offered job, retracted job, Dad accused, etc) Point being, Jalen clearly has a draw to this area as he still chose a school in the area. Don't think you accused Jay Wright of being dirty, but to anyone who thinks this one was dirty...no. And I guess I have no problem with IU hiring Damon Bailey, who has coaching experience, if Brayton Bailey is good enough. Recruiting is all about connections, in every way.

Odd? I guess...but I can PM you emails that said they had no idea, the prevailing thought in the area was home would win out.I posted that several times but qualified it- even then- as "feel" in the area. Media certainly had me thinking it was IU/Vandy but my guy wasn't close enough for me to make that call...I admitted that the whole way through. He also guessed Vandy which I give him little credit for. He stated it as a guess. I'm not going to pretend to know what I don't. -

At worst, you need to stop making things up. (Bolded in this post, common throughout this thread) At best, you need to get better/trusted sources. -

It got weird. The reality is no one knew anything- that's about all I had on decent word. Then I come on here and posters have him locked to IU based on what they know. Frankly, some accounts got so detailed it was very obviously made up. Strange thing to do.. Now people are blaming a reporter for misleading them? Be mad at yourself for making assumptions about what this or that meant, and be mad at yourself for falling for fellow posters BS. Don't be mad at DG, a reporter doing his job, or AM.
