That is n probably accurate. It looks like the NCAA moved the 'allowance' date up 2 weeks, last summer -

(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo
HoosierHoops1 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Another 3 days and Izzo would have offered Holt! CTC set him up by looking like he was all in for Kasongo and when Izzo bit, we quickly got the pledge from Emmitt, before he had time to discover the ruse. :sarcastichand: -
I get both your points. Don't disagree. Just pointing it out. Spiece didn't run through Caleb 1-4, 1 board, Rocks didn't run through Emmitt 3-3, 7 boards, led team I guess I was more saying, if the book is written on Swanigan, maybe there's a chapter or 2 to come from Holt.
-
`And the coveted Caleb Swanigan was 1-4 2 points and 1 rebound...

Sorry. That box was layed out perfectly when i hit post

Haunted Hall of Hoops - November 1st

It's a practice and a scrimmage. Adults get the same IU FIX benefits as they do at Hoosier Hysteria, except you can sit on floor level up close and personal. -

Rating Tom Crean's Recruiting Classes
HoosierHoops1 replied to Lt. John McClaine's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
2008 Nick Williams I think it'll be a while before we know how the last 2 classes shake out. On another site, I saw this years class as ranked #17 overall and 2nd in the B1G. Not too shabby. -
It'd be sweet, if it was already packed and in the car. "What time are workouts tomorrow?" "9am" "Great. I'll be in Cook Hall at 6"

(2015) SG Kenny Williams to UNC

Damn those Tarheels! Oh wait. Nevermind. -
I wonder if Victor, had a hand in the staff getting advanced word about Holt? From July 13th... Emmitt Holt- City Rocks EYBL: The 6’8” forward with a 7-foot wingspan recently decided to do a post-graduate year at Vermont Academy. His stock rose significantly this weekend after having a 19 point 8 rebound game. His Vermont Academy coach, Alex Popp, told NERR that he is “very excited to have Holt coming,” adding that he played extremely well at the Ty Lawson/Victor Oladipo All-American Camp. After this weekend Holt should be looking for his offer list to expand.

Excerpts from a recent story: Vermont Academy forward Emmitt Holt has been one of the nation’s biggest risers in the July live period. Holt caught the eye of the Saint Joseph’s staff out in Sacramento where he was showing off his 7-foot-3 wingspan and blocking shots into oblivion, Holt’s unique body combined with his wide ranging skillset makes him one of the more intriguing power forward prospects in the country. “He’s versatile because of his ability to pass the basketball,” Popp said. “He can guard multiple positions. He’s listed at 6-7 but his wingspan is 7-3. He has one of those Elton Brand bodies. You see him and you have to kind of look at him a little bit to take in exactly what his body is like. He has these size 18 sneakers so we’re convinced that he’s still growing. He has the baby face with the million-dollar smile. The unique facet of Holt’s recruitment is being able to match basketball opportunity with a strong academic situation where the forward can study business.

He was slated to go to prep school ( and may have already been on their campus) and had planned to be in the '15 class. TC, who's always on the lookout, might have scooped the "bigger" teams before they got a chance to get all their ducks in a row, following the summer circuit
-
Holts situation is a little bit different. Rather than coming off a high school season and fooling around all summer instead of making it to campus to work out, he had planned another year of ball before college, so he's been playing AAU all summer and keeping in shape. At the AAU Nationals in July in Louisville, Holt averaged 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in nine games as his Albany City Rocks team finished second in the event. Had this been a kid we knew about and/or on an Indiana Elite, EG10, etc team, most of us would be fired up to add him, I believe.

Looks like it's normal enough for Kansas and LSU and MSU and Purdue and whoever the heck else is trying to get Kasongo.
-
Great Pic. I preferred the year before with Meeks and Anderson.

Proud to not be a Tarheel
HoosierHoops1 replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Oh, what could have been... then Kennedy Meeks increased Carolina's advantage to 83-81 after making one of two from the line. After Carolina made a defensive stop, freshman Theo Pinson missed a pair of free throws with 32 seconds to play. 3/25 from 3 as a team. Ouch -
(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo
HoosierHoops1 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Just saying we all seem to point to 1 good game against a couple of known bigs and that's supposed to tell us all we need to know that he's better than his ranking. I'm definitely hopeful that's the case. I, as you have, scoured the internet looking for something to give us a little more info, but 4 schools in 4 years and Canada before that, didn't leave us much. He was supposed to play for the Kentucky all-stars against Davis, Hollowell, Patterson etc, but I can't find any info on those games. Weird. -

I think he was saying the same thing. Just that he might take the job of the guy he followed (backing up Hanner?) Although, Matt Roth scored 29 against Ohio State, so 1 game is hard to get a gauge one way or the other. Definitely seems like he'd upgrade us at our biggest position of need! -

That's what we need. We've got plenty of outside shooters.
