IUWBB at Wisconsin - Sunday @ 3:00 ET
LockdownD replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Wisconsin may be winless in conference play, but this is a big game for the Hoosiers to move up in ranking. When we win today, we move up to a 5-3 record that is good for a 4th place tie with Purdue. Since we beat the Boilers, we'd get that 4th place seed. Hope I've got this straight. -

Coach Frey to Michigan???
LockdownD replied to Hurryin' Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Well darn! Coach Allen will be challenged to find Frey's replacement. This could be very interesting. Find us a gem! -
Nice inbound play by MSU. Swanigan was asleep. Easy score under your own basket. Hope somebody on staff would try that one.

NCSt hangs on.

Nice win. Hoosiers travel to winless Wisconsin next. Go Hoosiers.

The Optimist's Shorter Rotation Theory
LockdownD replied to Beachfront Property's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Right. JBJ is in a good place right now. Hope he stays there. -
Granted, he does his own thing and that might be entertaining to some audiences. For me, he's distracting. I want insights about what's happening on the court. His commentary needs to relate to the game not about hiking in some 3rd world country.

I'm just not able to appreciate Walton's pearls of wisdom. I'm awfully bad about holding grudges and Steve Downing was owning him until Downing succumbed to foul trouble. But, how about Oregon's floor? It's messing with my depth perception.

Great win. Love it when we hang a L on the boilers.

7 nothing run for IU. Buss went to work.

Nerlen Noel had a knee injury, right? Didn't he get drafted after the injury?

Purdue's full court pressure is causing Indiana problems.

I don't care about the start. I want to see more minutes for Devonte, particularly. He impacts the play of the team on both ends of the court. It's about production. -

The problem I have with Josh is that he was able to work with the team last year and that extra time has not translated to success on the court. I feel like it was a significant advantage to be with and work with the previous team with an exceptional point guard as a model for Crean's system. I think he is better suited to come off the bench in reserve. I get frustrated with this team as I see them playing "soft" . Devonte plays hard and that aggressive play effects those that play with him. He controls the game tempo and I want to see more court time for him. -

Honestly I didn't notice his being absent tonight. He didn't make the Maryland trip either. I understand when a walk on doesn't travel, but not a scholarship player. -
Yes. Looks like the heels are going to pull away on this one.

Pete Diprimio article on Subbing.
LockdownD replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I understand about having "fresh legs" for the game, but I think being sent to the bench when you're scoring and/ or making defensive stops would be frustrating to a player! A couple of years ago, Troy was in the middle of a good spell. He was fouled in the act of shooting. He hits his first free throw and sees that coach is making a substitution. I can't remember who was waiting to come in for him after he was to hit the second shot, but it never happened. He bricked the second and game continued. It wasn't the right thing to do, but I understand why he did it. I'm of the opinion that if a player causes an unforced turnover, substituting that player out for a brief period would help restore them physically and mentally. As many turnovers as this team makes, there should be plenty of opportunity to sub out ; thus, avoid hitting the wall. -

Glad to see Zach actually look for his shot today. Still, I think his minutes should be sparingly. The player that needs more minutes is Devonte Greene. I was disappointed he didn't start the second half. I felt like he earned it. -

Josh McRoberts needs to be ready to shoot. Other teams, like Illinois, knows he isn't an offensive threat and doesn't bother to guard him. When he was in, his defense sags off and helps clog up the lane. I want to see him take that unguarded jumper. It's like playing 4 on 5. -
MSU pulls out the win. Road wins are hard to come by.

Rutgers had a player come down on another player's foot. Looked like he rolled his ankle and was helped off the court.
