(2019) CG - Anthony Harris to North Carolina
jk34 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
"Slow and steady" wins the race. 2 unexpected schollies pop up, why not give it a shot. I understand the frustration, but the initial question was what is your solution to fix all of this? -

But you're expecting Archie to sprint in a marathon. His recruiting is doing just fine as well. -

Whatever fits your narrative. Taking the least relative sentence out of my post. Just asking what the solution is for the future of IU basketball is the bigger question. PS. - Was Keady a better coach than Knight? -

Therefore the equal. 2 -2 record! Argue all you want. a 4 game sample size is ludicrous. Outside success pointed to Archie being better than Holtman. -

Archie is better or equal to Izzo! Ludicrous? -

Just curious, for all of frustration regarding the program, what's people's solution for becoming "elite" again. Fire Glass, fire Archie, Replace drop ceilings, pay players. Been attending games since 1973, and I want to see a consistent winning program. I truly believe at this time, Archie is the guy to get us there. Saying Holtman is a better coach at this point is ludicrous. And the kind of statement that made him not want to coach here in the first place. -
Agree 100%. Would love Wes in that 2nd unit in place of Evans!
-
Domas is not going anywhere. Heart and soul of second unit. 14 and 9 on 58% fg and 3apg in 24 mpg. Vic's absence completely changed rotations. Mathews and Evans are two big question marks for me, along with pg.

Back to Joey. Great pickup!
-
Still believe 3 is our biggest question mark. TJD may not have the range to step out to 3 yet, but his agility and quickness allow him to be a 4.
-
Jerome's health and Justin's development are key. Those are my wings, along with DA. TJD and Race are my "4"s. Hit 12' and out . Both are agile enough to guard other 4s. Our best players need to be on the floor together, and not let other teams dictate what we do. We can finally compete size wise, and now people are saying we have too many "5"s. Maryland and Gonzga were pretty successful this year playing 2 bigs together.

And then...there's this. DeVonte Green
jk34 replied to Old Friend's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
His brother carved out a pretty good career as a specialist. I know Danny is bigger, but Devonte is a better all around player. Definitely not saying he will be playing at the next level, but you never know. -
Getting a guy to perform that's been on probation for kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession is a "cool" factor?
-
They went out and got, according to all of the basketball experts, the best young coach in the business. (Or one of)

Gonzaga is the one team since the Calvary, Frahm teams, I've really enjoyed watching. Monson kinda got it going, but Few is elite.

So every 2 years let's recycle coaches until we find the right one. No one ever said to give the guy 9 years. Give 1 example of a coach in his second year that had to deal with the amount of injuries as we did. -

Player development and getting to the dance yearly definitely are my expectations moving forward with Archie. Jerome's health is my biggest question. Pitchforks was not directed at you. -

Is it not fair to give a coach more than a couple of years before people start with the pitchforks. We need more "yes men" on our roster. -

After reading your posts all day, it seems like you're quite pleased with the outcome the past 2 days. If you don't see that Archie has the coaching chops, that's fine. When he has his type of players up and down(and healthy) the roster, then we can judge him. If we didn't grab him when we did, some equal or greater would have. Everyone in the basketball community can't be completely wrong. -
Going out on a limb!
