    A wing/stretch on offense and a 4 on defense. That’s Mgbako.

Guys like that don’t want to be back of the bench this year

Dog Thread - help with older dogs

So sorry HH! Dogs are the best thing on the planet. My 45 lb big guy just turned 12 and even though he’s pretty healthy I’m spoiling the crap out of him lately because I know he’s into ‘bonus years’. I’m not educated on this except to say that you should give him whatever it takes to get wags. Toys, steak sandwiches, meth; whatever.

One more thing about Nikita; he played against three P5 programs last year with all three fairly close games: Monmouth beat West Virginia and NK had 6 pts and 7 rebounds in 21 minutes (not too bad) Monmouth lost to Seton Hall and NK had 3 pts and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes (yuck), and Monmouth lost to Oklahoma and NK had 11 points and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes (very good). All three games were 5 points or less at halftime and it seems that he generally held his own. Only the Seton Hall center had a big game against Monmouth, with the WVU center going 1-12 from the floor against Nikita.

Nikita will be the Ballo insurance policy; nothing more and nothing less. If Ballo went down Malik would start at the 5 with Nikita as his backup. If Malik got hurt Nikita would still be the backup 5. If both Malik and Ballo got hurt? We’re screwed anyway. That’s true for any team that loses their best two bigs. One thing for sure though; the staff better be damn sure that Nikita is not another Payton Sparks. That would be a disaster.

Opinions will vary, but almost all of us wanted us to substantially increase our catch and shoot potential. Hemmenway as the 13th guy on the roster is one hell of an outstanding catch and shoot wing. I’d love to have a developmental big also, but if we are only taking one more big it’s gotta be a 20 something year-old that can play right away.

Nikita=Boban? Well that would be excellent

Damn that Monmouth announcer at the start of the video is so the real deal. Sounds like he’s been gargling with rusty nails; in a good way. Like Johnny Most Jr. Anyway, that’s a really nice highlight video. Nikita looks like a grown man out there.
  9. Last year was a true outlier for the B1G, which usually has three of four ranked. Add four more respectable quality teams which brings the conference up to 18, and top five ranked of 18 is reasonably likely Maybe not, but probably.

That’d be great, but a guy like that wants a bigger role I suspect.
  11. God bless it that would be a great outcome. And if we could get one of my three Indiana raised, 48 year old coaches as the next head coach? That’d make it even sweeter.
  12. Top 5 in an 18 team P5 conference? That would mean we are also a top 25 team and a pretty high NCAA seed. Probably equates to a conference record of 14-6 or 13-7.
  13. We can aspire to the level of teams like UConn, but we haven’t been at their level for quite a while. We are Tennessee or Nebraska football currently.
  14. All of this-completely reasonable! And time will tell. Soon. But read this thread. The takes range from “he better do better” to “I would want him gone if he went to the Final Four next year.”
  15. 1). Is saying that “I really, truly hope that the current coach of the Hoosiers succeeds” now considered sunshine pumping? Okay then. 2) ) The posts that hope for success, negating the need to fire Woodson are on topic. Surely you don’t propose that no one is allowed to disagree in this thread? On a message board yet? Or do you?
  16. I’ll add another thing; when I saw Woody in the Union last weekend and a group of five middle-aged alumni walked up to his new recruit and the recruit’s mom, he didn’t make up an excuse to have them avoid us even though he didn’t know us from Jack. After we talked with Carlyle for a few minutes I had Woody’s arm on my shoulder, and was shaking his hand. Did he “over-vent” on senior night? Yup—he was frustrated and didn’t bite his tongue. But our coach loves and cherishes IU as much as ANY of us ever have, including me. And I love IU A TON.
  17. I think that Woody getting salty when fans roasted him after a 19-14 season has become an offense that is irreversibly non-negotiable in the minds of some. Read this thread —you will see who may feel that way. Those that feel that way are certainly entitled to. In the world we live in there are some bad moments that are irreversibly non-negotiable. For me? That most certainly wasn’t one of them. Mike Woodson is a fellow alum and those who know him personally love him, and that includes his players. His roster construction sucked eggs last year and because of that e finished 19-14, 6th in a 14 team B1G at 10-10. If he can fix things and win for the glory of old IU? Damn that would be awesome.

In a perfect world we’re looking at a grown man big for the 12th spot and a developmental big for the 13th spot. A little late for a high ceiling developmental get though
  19. This thread is here so that people can freely express their wish that Woodson be fired, and it’s going to stay; readers beware. My biggest wonder is if there’s an element with some of the fire Woodson posters of hoping he will fail more than hoping IU with Woodson will greatly succeed just so that they are proven right.
  20. Or any year on a pay IU message board.
  21. So true! But not from me. If we have a great season my only mantra to all, including the naysayers will be “This is great-go Hoosiers.”
  22. As if we’re the only school that has a well-funded NIL? Geez … if you don’t want to give Woody any credit, at least give some to Coach Ya: We pulled two high-level, three year eligibilty guards because they trusted Ya. Did so on their first and only visit with ZERO NIL bidding war. Also reported (not confirmed) that Ballo signed for less at IU than for other offers he received.
