A Major Step Toward Improving Our Outside Shooting
Stuhoo replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Rojo is gonna have to grow a good five inches to be as tall as Will Sheehey. -
PJ can keep his scholarship, be a presence with the team, and get his education as promised. That should be done, and will happen. From a basketball standpoint, if he can't play, we can accomplish those things and still free up the scholarship for a healthy player.

Bennie Seltzer is a good man. If that were so, that would be just fine and dandy by me. Furthermore, I find it curious that a day or two after the Martin news was widely reported, nothing has been officially released, and CTC now refuses to comment. If there is still no press release tomorrow morning, I would NOT be surprised to see Coach Seltzer return.

Yup. Permanent medical hardship scholly ala Delvon Roe.

Depth Chart - Davis has grown an inch or two?
Stuhoo replied to Hutch89's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think we will have no problems on the offensive end without HP in the lineup, or with a smaller lineup. HP will basically be a screen setter and board crasher on the offensive end; that can be reasonably replicated by the bench. Where I am worried is on the defensive end, especially with our severe lack of depth. Right now I'm guessing we will only have ten players that can even suit up and attempt to contribute (one open spot, an injured PJ, and an injured CH take the other three spots). I would be quite surprised if Middle School Bob can function well his freshman year (that makes a rotation of nine). I have more hope that Max and Jeremiah can pitch in. Unless we catch lightning in a bottle with a completely unproven big, we are very thin, especially if an injury hits us. -

I think it very much depends on who the opponent is. Versus Wisconsin or Purdue? We better have a big ready to go if/when HP gets in foul trouble. Against Michigan State or Michigan? We could go pretty small next year and not have any glaring matchup issues. -

Not necessarily so. It just means that when Perea sits, we would have to go pretty small (maybe Davis, Hoetzel, StanRob, Yogi, Rojo after initial subs) or use Jeremiah. -
Appreciate the kindness, Sco. Too many times I've seen speculative nonsense about IU from arguably sane posters on other boards, and thought "if they'd only asked on our board, they'd get a much better understanding". It's a nice way to get some inside scoop; good posters often have as much insight as beat reporters, and are far more willing to give an honest take.

Too funny!

Another reply from the Marist board posted: 2 hours ago Quote Post by yankee on 2 hours ago great guy, personable, top recruiter. Perfect hire IMO that suits his strenghts.
-
I threw a line out to the Marist message board, which is a pretty active place. The first response: "He will make a great assistant coach - he can recruit, did so at Memphis. He recruited a number of very good players at Marist but just didn't know what to with them once they got here, not an Xs and Os guys. He is better suited as an assistant the HC"

Does that make him the guy that booked the plane tix for Detroit SATs for Derrick and Reggie Rose?

I TOLD you all it was going to be Jose "Chuck" Martin. Maybe next time you'll listen to me!

(2016) PG Payton Pritchard to Oregon
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Shhhhh...watch what you say! Rumor has it Steve Alford is monitoring this thread. -
Martin only makes sense in our "fan vacuum". It seems as though we are not recruiting him, and neither are Purdue or Butler, which I find curious. Donovan is at Florida. Devin Robinson is at Florida. That does not seem likely to change. Eron Harris is down to his final three. Not us. If there is another player to be added, it is likely someone who we have not yet discussed on this board.
-
Yes. Let's do that! Oladipo has a year of eligibility left. Let's see if he, Eron Harris, or Justin Martin are interested!! ;)

BtownBanners Caption Contest- Week 2

"I just tricked Hanner into pulling this finger in the lane!" -
A point well made, and a real issue. Is Hartman pretty much out for next year? I am assuming a March ACL tear means yes. If past experiences hold, PJ will not be physically able to contribute. I would have to see/read actual "he's working his tail off in practice" reports to expect otherwise. That's a very short roster without enough practice competition.

Not trying to turn this into the "pile on BGleas" thread. I am curious; take a guy like, say, VO, that was a big time athlete who drastically improved his comfort and efficiency with the three ball. How many a day did he put up in the summer leading into his junior year? -

Stuhoo replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not trying to be negative? 500 made threes a day would be a little extreme, even for a worker like Hulls or VO. Those hundred made threes a day I am assuming are not the only work he's doing. -
"Priller" is Swahili for Large-toed dead-eye! Do I have to explain everything? ;)
