    I'm worried about in-state recruiting.

Why stop there! We also didn't get John Wooden, Rick Mount, Frank Kendrick, Joe Barry Carroll, James Blackmon Sr... Well shucks, looks like ole Branch McCracken and Bob Knight couldn't lock down Indiana!

    I'm worried about in-state recruiting.

Bullshirt. You prefaced and outlined your entire rant by starting with: "I encourage people to do some research to find out how high school coaches in the state feel about Indiana and Crean as opposed to Painter or Holtmann. There are several articles floating around about how the connection isn't there and Crean hasn't developed the relationships.. " So, If I started a post with "I encourage people to do some research to find out why people don't like Btown Banners poster Baltimore Hoosier. (And then immediately followed with) "Unlike Peegs and the 247 guys, Btown Banners has had real problems with lying, cheating posters that pull facts out of their backside." that'd be okay by you because the disparaging remarks in the second line were about Btown Banners and not you specifically? I'm glad you'd be okay with that. (and... you're damn straight it was a good try; it was a good try that should encourage you to cut the crap).

Sorry to call you out a bit, Baltimore, but much of what you posted above is absolute nonsense. Your list of who Crean Coulda/shoulda gotten but didn't? Hummell? Committed to Purdue two years before Crean was at IU. Dawson? Arrested this year for felony domestic assault. Punched Travis Carroll in a MSU/PU game. Good player, but not a good guy, to say the least. Teague? Never should have been a "student-athlete". Lyles? Puhlease, we've been through that one with Papa Tom Lyles and the de-commit many times over. Swanigan? His adopted father is a pro player agent, and a Purdue grad. Really? DeShaun Thomas? ONCE AGAIN as Inside The Hall quoted "committed to OSU long before Tom Crean arrived at IU." JuJuan Johnson? FOR A THIRD TIME!! Committed to Purdue about two years before Tom Crean arrived at IU. Blueitt? Nice player...by all accounts, him and Yogi were never going to go to the same school. Robinson? The son of Purdue's all-time great, and UM committ Mitch "Cheech and Chong McGary's" bestest buddy? That leaves Gary Harris and Zak Irvin; I'd throw Kellen Dunham in there too; we would have had a good shot at Dunham, though him and Irvin are far from 5 star program changers. You sir, have mastered the art of the straw-man argument with your post. Good day, sir.

    I'm worried about in-state recruiting.

In-state recruits present an inherent advantage for IU: those kids can have their family and friends at games. Otherwise: Character, Athleticism, Shooting ability, and Work ethic... Those are the qualities I'm looking for, and I don't care if we get them from a kid in Indianapolis or Timbuktu.

    I'm worried about in-state recruiting.

The two straight Sweet 16s didn't translate to recruiting success?!?!? We went to two straight Sweet 16s, and then "The Movement" came! Sure, it didn't work out, but Yogi, Hollowell, Patterson, Perea at LaLu were the highest ranked kids in the State that year, save for Gary Harris who waited until there were limited open spots. That momentum turned into in a recruiting upswing, at least if you believed the star ratings at the time. Of course, the star ratings for those very highly thought of in-state kids did not reflect quality of play or quality of character. I get the feeling that CTC has learned that lesson; he now wants high character kids, athleticism, and shooters. If he can get that in-state, all the better. If he can't; he will gladly defer to the OGs, Juwans, and Al Durhams of the landscape.

I've been a regular here since this site's inception. He makes me wish I was posting and reading elsewhere. Not looking for an apology, for sympathy, or for anything...but it's true.
  14. A classic OG on-camera interview now up on Inside the Hall. Pure OG style; long-ish questions, short, focused, dead-pan answers. My favorite part of the interview? Q: "Any goals for yourself you'd like to accomplish this season?" OG answer: "Win a Big Ten championship. Win a national championship." Hoosier.

    OG's Goals For This Season

I'VE GOT A PLAN! I'm going to begin editing the condescension and passive-aggressive negativity out of X-Hoosier's posts. Hopefully, those so inclined will read my version of said posts, and posters like Hova will return! ;) See above for example 'A' (PS: you're welcome!)

I'm pretty sure that the shade of Hartman's skin will not be relevant toward his role on the team. In other words, I am NOT a fan of ^^that^^ post.

  19. YES. OG dominates defensively. OG dominates threads. OG dominates.
  20. Well heck...the fact that he re-tweeted it gives it some modicum of credibility in my book. Hard to figure out 16 year olds, but apparently is a reasonable clue as to which programs he's leaning toward. Can't see NC State, Vandy, or Purdddooo. That gives a set of seven most likely contenders. If UL and UNC get nuked by the NCAA... if UCLA and Kansas are too far from home... That leaves us, UK, and Dukey!
  21. Zach Osterman re-tweeted this top ten list from a guy named Julius Kim from "phenomhoopsreport". An hour or two later, Kim had a follow up tweet where he basically admitted he didn't know what the hell he was talking about: Julius Kim ‏@JKim97 1h1 hour ago That Romeo Langford edit is NOT his final list.
  22. Kind of an early top ten for a top five player, eh? Also notable that we're the only B1G school in the mix (unless you count Purdoo). Edit: I'm not seeing where he's listed his top ten. Source?
  23. From 2013...This, plus a good relationship between CTC and Mike Peterson? I'm speculating; I can't see him out of family close distance...that narrows it to us and Xavier - He'll be a Hoosier: Lethal 2017 guard/forward Kris Wilkes receives IU offer Jordan Littman 08/24/2013 7:30 am in Recruiting When Indy Hoosiers AAU coach Mike Peterson speaks about 2017 guard/forward Kris Wilkes, one of the first words he mentions is “lethal.” No, it is not a direct reference to his game on the court, where Wilkes is a 6-foot-6 freshman at North Central that received an Indiana offer on Friday and has interest from Purdue, Xavier and Memphis. His “lethal” status comes from taekwondo, a sport in which Wilkes is a black belt. As untraditional as it seems — Peterson is quick to mention Wilkes is not your typical basketball recruit — it’s all part of the equation of how Wilkes is beginning his high school career with a hot start. “He could show you some stuff, but he has a very strong core,” Peterson told Inside the Hall Friday evening. “You never find Kris on the ground because he’s so strong with his body and his balance.” And there’s no arguing that work has helped him on the court, too. Earlier this month, Wilkes was named the Most Valuable Player of the CrossRoads Elite 125 National Camp (highlights from that camp are posted below) in Nashville, Tenn. The event featured some of the top talent in the country’s 2017 and 2018 classes. For those who don’t know him yet, Peterson said it won’t take much longer. “Kris’s heart and tenacity on the floor, man, is just out of this world,” Peterson said. “I’m telling you, with his skill, I can play him anywhere from the 1 to the 5. He can bring the ball up the floor. Where he lacks right now is a consistent outside jump shot, but that is going to come if he continues to shoot and work on that part of his game. “Other than that, he doesn’t have a weakness. He rebounds, he spins, he can go to the bucket.” Wilkes’ athletic abilities only make up half the story behind his success, though. Each Sunday, his extended family meets at his grandmother’s house, where she cooks everyone dinner. Even from a young age, Wilkes learned the importance of family, education, church and being respectful. His father has kept him enrolled in martial arts classes to gain strength, focus and work ethic. He also has played the bass in orchestra. “His family needs to be mentioned. He has an awesome family, from his dad, to his uncles, to his grandmother,” Peterson said. “Kris always looks the part and talks the part. It’s because of his family background.” As his college recruitment takes off, Wilkes intends to not lose sight of what’s close. During an unofficial visit to Indiana on Friday, where he played a pick-up game with Yogi Ferrell and No. 2 NBA draft pick Victor Oladipo and got a campus tour from head coach Tom Crean, Wilkes was offered a scholarship. Afterward, when Peterson called to ask how it went, Wilkes “was giggling ear to ear. He loves IU.” Wilkes now is the third member from his AAU team to get a scholarship offer from Indiana, joining 2017 recruits Southport guard Paul Scruggs and Hamilton Southeastern forward Zach Gunn. Peterson noted those offers “could play a big part in the future. They may all want to stay and play together.” College indeed is far in the future for Wilkes. He only is three weeks into his freshman year of high school, after all. But that hasn’t stopped Peterson from singing his praises. From taekwondo, to orchestra and to the basketball court, Wilkes has diversified himself into a star. Peterson, however, summed it up in layman’s terms. “He does it all.”
