By all accounts Al is a fantastic young man. Have to believe that it's no coincidence with the timing.

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Stuhoo replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Apparently slimy ass Calipari was in to watch TreWat today. While I hope that the young fella went through a complete decontamination afterward, it brings me incredible joy to imagine the reaction that would come from Kentucky fans were the recruitment with him to get hot and heavy, and then he chose IU. It would be a Kentucky mind-fluk at its finest . -
And, for those who gravitate toward rankings, Moore and Gak aren't all that far apart anymore, though admittedly, Gak's offer list seems to be better (unless the high-end programs are all slow-playing him).
-
I just don't see us getting an instant impact freshman big, and I think that Deng Gak gives me way too many Hanner-flashbacks; I prefer Moore to Gak. My question is, will we have room for Moore and a 5th year wider-body? That'd be my preference.
-
Not the entire story, doc. Moore is a 3/4 on offense. On the defensive end, he projects as a 4 until he gains some weight, and after a year or two of camp Lionel, I've gotta imagine he could guard most 5s. Maybe not a 280 guy like Haas, but pretty much any other 5 once he gets up to 225+. Besides, he's an athletic kid with a good jumpshot and an even better handle for his size, he's on the rise in the eyes of many coaches (not an MSB-style drastic overreach), and he's academically outstanding.

Whoompf...that's a 59 spot rise over the previous updated composite ranking.

Moore is now a 4 star? -
In a nutshell, because medical information is protected by HIPPA, and well wishes are not.

(2017) SF Brian Bowen to Louisville
Stuhoo replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Sooo: If he'd gotten a hooker pregnant and needed in-state tuition, that'd make him a Louisville recruit! If he'd gotten a girl pregnant and ended up in jail for it, he'd be an excellent Illinois recruit! If he'd gotten his cousin pregnant and needed a very high paying no-show job for her daddy, he'd be a great Kentucky recruit! And...if he''d gotten a farm animal pregnant, he'd be a perfect Purdooooo recruit. -

Is the left shoulder the one that Juwan rehabbed? If so, he's looking strong. -
No it doesn't

I half agree. Wilkes... Yes - main event, marquee level. Waters? Gravy. -
(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
And...the Illini have two good boards that are both free. :) -
VERY much like Mo Creek. Hadn't thought of that, but that is completely spot-on.
-
And I am agreeing with you! Didn't mean it to read as a disagreement; just trying to illustrate the alternative to what you correctly cited as an unlikely scenario.
-
Or...it would require everybody going pro, CH and Tim Priller graduating, and no transfers. Which would make Al Durham, Grant Gelon, and potentially a guy like Clifton Moore our "we understand the deal" back-bench guys.
-
I fear that CH has played his last game as an IUBB scholarship player. I could easily see him getting a Derek Elston-style role after this year, especially since Derek is not going to hang around all that long in his current role without looking for career advancement. I know most are ready for the news on Collin's knee to be bad, but y'all need to prepare yourself for him to be a four year scholarship player, not a five year player. We all want to have: Balanced classes, To give scholarships to players that will pursue an IU degree, and To have room for high-level new players to commit with some certainty that a spot will be available. Collin being done will meet all of those criteria, and he will now have missed almost two years with leg injuries. As I said, be prepared for his scholly playing days to end, unless there is an unexpected open slot. BTW, that no doubt happens sometimes - Danny Moore and Jeff Howard both got a scholly year, but in Matt Roth's year it wasn't in the cards. Now...time for a whole lot of discussion on this reasonably likely situation!

(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

No idea, and FWIW, even this source does not claim to have any guarantees of what will happen (if he did, that would trash his credibility IMO). -
(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I was doing a little digging for y'all this morning while eating my Honey Nut Cheerios. I found this on the Illini board. The poster is a one off on the Illini board, and has posted briefly on the Nebraska board with a profile covered in IU swag. The poster also is a premie IU poster, and has weighed in on bball coaching software websites. Take it for what it's worth...here's your sunshine pump for the morning: CoachSS All, I promise I come here in peace. Just want to touch up a bit on Kris Wilkes. I've seen a few posts suggesting Illinois may get him and they are in prime position. While I certainly applaud John for the work he has done behind the scenes and openly (especially in regards to staying in the ear of Kris' personal instructor) I think that the enthusiasm should be tempered a bit. Wilkes' high school coach has said privately he's fairly certain that Wilkes will go to Indiana and even his own father suggested a quite a bit of surprise about UCLA being a finalist. As most have correctly said, no lineup or returning starters will have any bearing on Wilkes' decision. When you are that good, you go to a school and you play. End of story. Having had the chance to see Smith and Wilkes multiple times, I can say, categorically, that they will be playing together and not competing for time. Smith is a guy the IU staff can slowly bring along whereas Wilkes will walk in and start at the "3" right away. I am here to talk Illinois basketball. I'm a big fan of John and really hoping he turns the corner this coming season and desperately hoping everyone stays healthy. I come here to help shed some light on some of the recruiting stuff that I know about. -

Meanwhile, Purdoodoo is running out of 2017 options. They are about to go O-fer the top 200. AND... With only one incoming freshman this year (though potentially a good one) their cupboard is going to get pretty low on supplies, unless they want to become "grad transfer U". -
The man grew up with a helicopter. You got a problem with dat?!?
