Here's another name no one has mentioned: Howard McNear

Yes! They told me right away, and it is truly extraordinary; I was shocked and astounded when I learned who the Janitor really is! Ahhh, you know what? Screw the other mods...The Janitor's identity is: ... ... is... ... ... IS... ... ... IS... ... ... ... ... ... Oh crap; it's dog-washing day. Gotta go!

For me the biggest knock on Marshall (not that it disqualifies him) is his age.

Yes... But that's not all: Here's the BIG NEWS...We are making a major motion picture sequel about a man who hangs out at airports to document employee firings. Treesh will star! Here is the trailer from the first prequel picture:

I'm confused, but I think that this post from Hova means that he is using his back-channels to veto the decision to Fire Tom Crean!! Sic 'em, boys!! ;)

Yogi Ferrell - Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (Montonegro)
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
Geez 'O Pete. I'm sold. A healthy Yogi is going to be a ten year career NBA rotation player. -
That guy sucks. What were you guys thinking?

A post that describes the situation as complex, fluid and being appropriately analyzed by a professional IU search team? Yes.
-
Depends how many years he could extend a contract with another school, but likely, yes. Another way of looking at it? Power 5 conference basketball coaches are so stinking wealthy that they and their ancestors are pretty much set for the long run no matter where they are.
-
This is NOT an endorsement of any particular "insider" info, or IN ANY WAY a path toward turning this thread into a political discussion (so please don't), BUT... if the whole-wide-stinking-world can end up seeing leaked info from: The Clinton campaign's Chief of Staff's emails and Can find out when Jeff Sessions is in a side-bar huddle with the Russian Ambassador... I'm pretty sure it is in the realm of possibility that it could be leaked when IU is meeting with freaking basketball coach candidates!

He did! Last night! Said we were looking farther west than OKC.

I WANT BILLY AS COACH AND I WANT IT NOW OR ELSE!!! [Just trying to anticipate the reaction of someone in next few post pages]

Good info...not seeing a lot of pro-Alford buzz from posters in the know. Just that he'd be interested. That's very different than seeing IU interested in him. No worries here, yet.

I have a dog named Cody. He is an extremely well-adjusted, good fellow.
-
You should have re-named that tabby cat "Bud Mackey", "Armon Bassett", or "Todd Leary."
-
Yes. So much so that he voluntarily refunded part of his salary/bonus $$. This year he is 28-3. Seat is downright chilly when that happens.
-
Once for each "a lot."
-
I think that Ed Schilling would come with him, and that would help alot alot alot.
-
Pap and milehiu with the same assessment of Alford having interest.
-
It does not need to be said. Mods on this board handled the matter immediately. ✔

[Not solely taking a swipe at the last post of this ilk above - seen too much of this generally] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In my opinion, ANYONE that proclaims "If (fill in name) is hired, I will no longer root for Indiana University" is welcome to exit stage left no matter who is hired. Indiana is my alma mater (twice). It is the school I will always root for. It is like family; you don't pick it, you are in it. I don't root solely for the coach at the time, I root for my team, my school. When Kelvin Sampson was coach, it was a damn shame, but I was still an absolute, no questions IU fan. I was simply an IU fan that wished we had a different coach. If Tom Crean is the coach next year? Same thing. (though it won't be nearly as bad as when Sampson was in charge) If the identity of the coach can determine your fandom? For me...GTFO.

Like you said...assuming they are legitimately conveying real, sourced info, they both could be right. A search committee/firm routinely would reach out to multiple places to gauge interest, and then narrow it down from there with an established order of preference among the candidates that express interest. So far, I've seen Donovan, Alford, and maybe Sean Miller as where we may have reached out.
