Love to see those priority 2026 recruits on the team.

(2024) - F Zania Socka-Nguemen to INDIANA
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
The coach of that team must be a fan. ;) -
In the French U-21 league he put up the big numbers. Then he got called up for a cup of coffee to the same club’s grown man team and barely got run, but it was as a 19 year old. He’s a 6’11 inch big wing span raw project that would be a great get as the 13th scholly player. Not someone that should be counted on for 10+mpg.

The NBA doesn't necessarily get what the NBA wants. Theories to the contrary are conspiracy theories that are not grounded in any kind of reality. At the top of the "NBA not getting what the NBA wants" list? An Oklahoma City vs Indianapolis Finals.

I just learned my first Portuguese word: "siAAHHHHHHKmmm!!!!"

FWIW, if you put that $46 million in an S&P fund 46 years ago you’d have $12.86 billion!

(2026) - SF Sammy Jackson to VCU
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Great post. If our staff is sane and smart they’ll agree. That doesn’t make Sammy Jackson anything other than a great get; just means we need some ready for the big time dudes to go with him. -
To charge they needed to identify him through police lineups, and it was damn hard to find five other 7'4", 300 lb guys?
-
(Xavier Johnson's) "Charger was going 90 miles per hour." If X was charged with a felony, what does that make Edey at 101 mph?
-
Zach Edey ...driving 101 mph in a 55 mph zone. Edey's ... passed the Indiana State Police trooper's southbound vehicle at 7:03 p.m., according to a probable cause affidavit. Edey ... told police he was trying to pass a vehicle as an explanation for speeding. ----- Ima gonna unpack this: The vehicle that he was trying to pass at 101 mph was a State Trooper?

Looks again like Lamar Wilkerson is where the good times are. That young man is a positive presence in a major way.
-
When I saw his commitment video he seemed low-key, but in every team video so far, Lamar Wilkerson has been positive, communicating, and hyper-motivated. Seems like he's going to be a very much featured part pf the coming season.

2026 General Recruiting Thread (Bball)
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
One would think that he's getting tired of these visits. If he isn't a Hoosier by the end of the week I'd imagine the ship has sailed. -

IUWBB - News and Notes
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Is it me, or are about 50% of the video clips of a player giving encouragement from Maya Makalusky? -
I'd call Dorn a non-ball handling wing - a pure 3 in college, and correction; I think that Drake is a junior, not a senior.
-
Though he was a 2/3, but from this video it looks like he was playing point guard the majority of the time. I really like that. Also seems to be playing against primarily zones, which tends to limit driving opportunities and ramp up distance shooting opportunities.

Ristic does not play in the best league in Serbia - that is the eight team 'Super League. He plays for a .500 team in the 16 team 'First League'. Quite good for a 19 year old. Buncha grown-@$$ men in that league. Per league literature: "...the top 8 teams in First League are promoted to Super League with five Serbian teams from the ABA League. Two lowest-placed teams, positioned 15th and 16th in the First League, are relegated to a lower-tier league – Second Basketball League of Serbia." Of note: Serbia is indeed a basketball-crazy country and has produced some all-time great players, but it is also a country of only 6.6 million people - about 300,000 less people than the State of Indiana.

Snip and Sketch app for the win!

All of our top four guards are in their last year of eligibility. We desperately need system-familiar guards for the future. Bigs? We’re a little better with Sisley, Harris, and Dorn.

(2027) - Jason Gardner Jr.
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Alright grumpy Gus. Here's another take; Gardner thinks he's a possible one and done, and elects to be one close to home so that friends and family can see him play in his one year of college ball before his dreams become a one way NBA ticket to Sacramento or Portland. And then, if he's merely a late first/early second rounder? Another year in college at $2 million is all of the sudden a better option. -
Also found the video interesting in that new Director of Basketball Operations Garrett Sturtz, at the ripe age of 25, was in the mix. Sturtz is a former walk-on at Drake who became their all-time rebounding leader as a 6'3" guard. Seems like a young coach on the rise for sure. Also notable: Tucker and Enright dressed but not on video during the full contact stuff.

Hitting me with the good stuff right here. Who filled this role last year? Maybe Ya or Walsh? Norton is the on court go to guy and so is Devries. That’s at least one more than last year.

Mackenzie Holmes to Seattle Storm
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Nice!! Called up from the minors. Now Mac needs the Storm to get blown out or blow a team out so that she can start to show out in garbage time and leverage that into a shot at rotation minutes, -

About the same as Mike Woodson's teams is the ceiling? What is the floor? Opinions are what we're here for and you are certainly entitled to yours, but I'm curious what the basis is for your opinion. Can't be roster quality because Woodson failed with far more roster star power, and Kelsey succeeded greatly last year with significantly less roster buzz. Isn't it more accurate to state that the new era is currently a big, fat question mark, but is being led by a staff that has flat-out produced results wherever they've been.
