    Settle down, Flabby.
  2. I’m from Chicago and spent a week there last summer. For me? Chicago > Florida every day, any day, all day. Seattle is the one big city that I’ve been to in the past five years that I thought had gone way downhill post-COVID. The ‘Chicago & NYC have gone to crap’ narrative is BS to me. Just spent a week in Manhattan and Brooklyn in January. If you can afford it? It’s every bit as incredible as ever.
  3. Portsmouth New Hampshire. Helena, Montana. New York, New York ... if you're brave enough. All really good at what they are.

Can't play hoops without a token Scandinavian, and we lost ours!
  6. When I first moved to South Florida, Chicago was about the same cost and both were significantly cheaper than the Northeast. Now? If you're in 'civilization' in Florida, housing prices are every bit as expensive as the Boston area. No State income tax but a 7% or higher sales tax from Daytona through the Keys. And Chicago? World class things to do, pretty safe, walkable, excellent public transportation and suburban schools, and really, really affordable and excellent housing, restaurant and grocery prices. Taxes are crazy-high though. For nine months a year it's a pretty awesome place to be.
  7. Nips ain't kidding; if you can afford it and live close to the Gulf, Naples is really, REALLY nice (but not from June through September).

One could say, Ndongo was the Baye(to)Watch, and easily kept Fall at Baye.

We (like 10-15 other schools) have a ton of NIL money. Unlike other schools we have spent a very small percentage of it so far. UL, UK, and Michigan's rosters already look really good because they are about done budgeting for them and putting them together. -------------------------------------- Any of you mopes ever play in a salary cap fantasy football league? This is a ton like that.

I know you come from an era of IUBB disfunction and very much want that to end, but... I've said this before: we have been conditioned to see a pretty talented roster with a crap culture and coaching staff, and react that we must need even more talent to 'get over the hump'. But what we really need is a head coach and staff with a plan to identify players that fit their system (and there will be many options) and the ability to mold them into a cohesive team. If we hired the right guy that will happen whether we lose some priority recruiting battles or not

My opinion? (Almost always) for better or for worse, people on this board are 1) very forgiving, and 2) pretty darn good at figuring each other out.

Seems kinda intentional as in, if we’re on him we’re gonna get him.

Tell you what… I’m sure he’s very much a project, but that’s a very big fella with very quick feet.
  15. Currently live in South Florida. Previously lived in Chicago, Bloomington, near suburban DC, New Haven Connecticut, and Boston. My priorities are: 1) Smart, good, thoughtful and analytic people, 2) Tons of interesting, high-level stuff to do, and great and interesting places to eat and get good groceries, 3) Bang for the buck, 4) Climate- for me that’s four seasons and not sweating my balls off. 5) Walkability 6) Commute times and accessibility to other excellent places ————————————————— If I had to rank them? 1) Chicago 2) Boston (very close second but loses big to Chicago on cost) 3) Bloomington 4) New Haven 4) South Florida (only not last place because we are in a stellar-walkable area, which is unusual for Florida) 5) Suburban DC
  16. Different thread, but Milo the most excellent dog ever is turning ten this summer and is very interested in any wellness tips.

Would be a bigger miss than Wilkerson IMO. Not because he’s a better player, but because he’s an excellent two year player and the competition for him is less present and immediate. i know we’ve got a very long way to go, but a starting lineup of Bailey, Devries, Goode, Conerway, and Enright is already a tourney quality five to me (if my assumption that they’ll be coached well is accurate).

100% starter quality. We are the only visit that I’m seeing that he has scheduled. That’s a major difference from Wilkerson. Make. It. Happen. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!

It’s notable that while on his UK visit Wilkerson has apparently hooked up with a Purdue coed:

You guys want this bball team to absorb the culture of the IU Football team? Apparently last night that’s how it worked, because apparently Lamar W was out having a good time with the IU Football team.

Looking for a link which shows that ANY of the players we’re currently pursuing have signed elsewhere. That wouldn’t justify a meltdown, but at least I’d then understand the current roster construction situation. I don’t see any link showing that. Instead, all I’m seeing is that one player who is very highly sought after is taking his additional already scheduled visits. Wasn’t that a reasonably likely expectation, whether he commits to IU or not? (Answer: yes; it was)
