(2023) - SG Reed Sheppard to Kentucky
Stuhoo replied to Gnet550's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Is he more likely to de-commit from Kentucky; If Calipari leaves, or If Calipari stays Because he's one of Cupps's best buds, was considering IU, and might be the single best additional recruit we could bring in for next year. -
One thing seems to be crystal clear, and I am grateful for: Rather than rebuild through freshmen, IUFB seems determined to rebuild through portal guys who weren't yet given a full opportunity at major programs. That seems like a way better strategy than trying to compete by landing the 1000+ ranked recruits that are willing to pop for IU, especially because football is a game where 21 year olds are generally far more man-sized tough than 18 year olds.
-
So, does Incarnate Word have a football team with a poachable portal guy? Asking for a Hova friend.

There is a world of difference between legitimately blaming the players versus @TimWeaver20's hand-penned, directly mailed to a player letter full of childish insults.

While I'm not convinced that Dolson is the wrong guy, I am completely convinced that Chris Reynolds would be the right guy.
-
Woody is barely the guy that hired Fife; I don't think they were previously very well-acquainted. Woody was new to the college game and was sold that it was a good idea. So I guess that means that Dolson is the guy who contributed the most to Fife's hire. And fwiw, from what I've heard off-line/away from public posting, Aaron's assessment of Fife is spot-on.

But the order on that list has changed for me regarding some of our vets. And it could for those two soon. If it does we'll be so, so much better.
-
So, I guess, my question is; irrespective of talent level, who are the players who demonstrate (or have the potential) to sustain focus, commit to hard work, pressure the opponent, and play team defense? For me, in ranked order: Trey Galloway Xavier Johnson Miller Kopp Trayce Race CJ Gunn Jalen Hood Schifino Tamar Bates Logan Duncomb (not enough run to tell) Kaleb Banks (not enough run to tell) Malik Reneau Jordan Geronimo Leal (Won't ever get enough run to tell)

Jared Jeffries is completely squared-away, and has a full--time job as a scout for the Denver Nuggets. He was just excited and having a lot of fun. A NEW COROLLA?!? YAAAAAY!!!

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to O$U via Indiana
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
^^All of this^^ But I'll add, it's about building block by block, step by step to put together a roster where focus and consistent determination is hard-wired into the DNA of the team. When that happens, the rising tide carries all boats. See: Moren, Terri. So, are Cupps and Newton only two kids? Sure, but the percentage of kids that carries the team's mindset has to improve and if they are two kids who raise the "winner mindset percentage" on the roster that's a positive. -
Would you hire Chris Beard as an Assistant / Head Coach at Indiana
Stuhoo replied to southernindianahoosier2's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It seems as though Beard needs to get some alcoholism counseling and come out as someone with a redemption story who has re-structured his life. "I'm sorry I got caught" and "it was her fault too" isn't going to cut it and is a sign that he hasn't turned the corner yet. Once/if he does so, he can and will be a major program head coach again. -

Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I may get blasted here for actually saying something not negative, but this mindset by X is far more productive than a floundering team that is sulking and feeling sorry for themselves. If the locker room holds together at least they have a chance. Now, if the results don't happen of course it's all for naught, but still. -

That’s Malachi’s “posse.” ;) -
“Hey, let’s double Malik Reneau and swipe down at the ball!” scouting reports exist, no doubt.

JG doesn’t make good plays, he makes great ones. And like you said, more bad ones. -
That’d be a lot of NIL

So maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye.

The best reason to play Banks instead of Geronimo is that while freshmen can make defensive mistakes, no one can make more than Geronimo. -
I never rule out a legitimate reason that I haven’t thought of, but this seems extremely desperate and baaaad.

So is he kinda a Peyton Ramsey skill set?
