Whiners shrink from adversity. Whiners see things not going well and dread the possibility, or even the likelihood that things will continue to slide. A grown-a$s man accepts adversity, holds himself and others accountable, and leads out of adversity and back into success. Indiana University Head Coach Mike Woodson is a grown a$s man and then some.

My absolute favorite play of the game? With 40 seconds left and Indiana up 12 during garbage time, Kohler on Michigan State catches the ball all alone under the basket for a “don’t foul him layup“. Trayce Jackson Davis sees the play developing from the free throw line and contests the shot as hard as he did any play all game long. And blocked it. THAT is leading by example.

The fouls on Trayce and Race were 100% correct calls.

Timmy G probably enjoyed that one too.

Great recognition by Woody; no matter who makes the post feed they run away and are replaced by Tamar on the ball side.

Tim Garl unusually fired up after that three by Tamar. Don’t know if I’ve seen that very often.

Underrated but notable: When Hoggard picked up his second foul and came off the court MSU fell apart.

Missed lots of great looks, especially in the paint. And… Up five at half against a top tier team. That’s pretty strong stuff for IU.

Results of heat check? Hot.

We’ll miss Trayce a lot next year, but Malik Reneau will be more than ready to be our featured big.

Cam Camper + EJ Williams + Tayven Jackson + Bob Bostad seems like a major upgrade to the passing game.

I would think “headband on” means he’s available. Good stuff—keep healing Xavier.

Conversely, OSU has a home game against ranked Iowa on Monday followed by a road game against us three days later.

Now Illinois Assistant Coach and tiny little-man-syndrome loser Chester Frazier proudly tweets out a video of a pre-game cheap shot he took at Eric Gordon, who responded by hitting a 25 foot bank shot to send the game to a double OT IU win:

He’d be a great, great get. Not an instant impact player, but smart, defensive minded, coachable, long, and can shoot the three ball. fingers crossed.

Another takeaway: Jason Benetti is an incredibly excellent play by play announcer. In fact, he is so good he actually made Bardo good!

Another takeaway from the game: Mike Woodson knows more about basketball than Logan Duncomb’s grandmother.

Miller Kopp played his role extremely well again. Efficient, disciplined, winning basketball. And while he will never be a major impact guy, he makes it that much harder to double Trayce or Malik.
