^^This^^ Just because Rabjohns and Hoosier Hysteric Eric aren't getting any tidbits does not mean we aren't actively pursuing.
-
Because we're not going into next season with ten scholarship players.
-
I'm thinking that one of those "DNA" guys would be sweeeeet.

Two players. Both played the 2/3 on a Power 5 team last year. Both young and similar size. Similar defensive ability. Who do y'all like? Yes Hova! Yes. For you I suggest this one: -

Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's

Unless we're talking about Becca Ledlum and her delicious quick meal recipes! -
IMO? A little sarcasm now and then can be good - like adding salt to food. But too much salt makes it inedible.

What do we need?

Right?!!? A starting lineup of Norchad Omier, Keion Brooks, Keyontae Johnson, Ricky Council, and Kendric Davis with Tyrese Hunter and Baylor Scheierman off the bench would kick some serious college basketball backside. And all were still available at least through April 26th, and most much later, last season.
-
Another point that has been made: many of the truly best portal transfers commit late, late, late. After or about May 1st last year, the following players were in the portal and still uncommitted: Tyrese Hunter Terrence Shannon Grant Sherfield Ricky Council Jr. Keion Brooks Keyontae Johnson Courtney Ramey Matthew Mayer Kevin McCullar Kendric Davis (on 4/29) Isiaih Mosely Norchad Omier (on 4/26) Baylor Scheierman

With and without portal additions, under Woodson IUBB has made progress two straight years. Both years were tournament teams, the second team went farther, did better in conference, and beat Purdue twice; all without our starting point guard. Good programs have: functional cultures, plenty of talent, a staff that adapts to their roster's strengths, an effective on-court system, and the mental fortitude to persevere through injuries and bad stretches. So far, the Woodson era seems to have been able to check all of those boxes. Each year begins as a mystery; you never can be sure which player takes a leap forward, and which player that is expected to take a leap forward does not. See; Galloway, Trey and Bates, Tamar. One of them played a ton with the ball in his hands and shot very well from distance; the other was borderline five star player Tamar Bates. So, while it is expected that Reneau will be a go-to, Sparks may end up improving a ton and be that guy, and Reneau may disappoint .. or not. CJ Gunn and Jakai Newton? Neither may surprise ... but each is talented enough to be very valuable. Other than Anthony Leal, each current player can be very effective; you just don't know. As long as the talent is there, the commonalities that enable team success are in the system and culture more so than as if we're picking a fantasy football roster. So ... IU will have a roster of 12 or 13 scholarship players that will have enough talent to compete well into the upper half of the B1G next year. It's fun seeing how the pieces are assembled to make that happen.

Still three spots open. We will fill at least two of them. For those analyzing the potential liabilities and gaps in our current roster? For better or worse, this is not our final roster.

Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's
Stuhoo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Disagree about JHS. Every top 30-ish player thinks they may be a one and done. JHS progressed greatly over the season; he ran point, markedly improved defensively, and showed he could shoot from distance and create his own shot. He pretty much knocked it out of the park with all of the questions about his game. -
A portal decommit? That’s a new one.

Big bummer! Excellent player and would’ve been a good fit. Ah well…onward! -
As the saying goes: Tantas Curvas, Y Yo Sin Frenos!
-
Oh lord; he’s not even in the portal yet, but he’s so far and above other SGs people have been gushing about.

Adam Howard just started Insta-following Arkansas Draft declarant Devo Davis. Arkansas has already back-filled all 2/3 spots with portal gets, and Davis is exploring the draft, retaining eligibility, but has not entered the portal yet. Davis is not projected to be drafted. By the way, NOT that we are in any way in real pursuit, but Devo Davis would be an incredible get for any team. PS; This is how it works.

Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's
Stuhoo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Lol no. A Academic All-American at Harvard a few weeks before finals and is down to three schools said "yes" when one of those three asks if they can come to Cambridge and have lunch with him before he makes his final decision? That seems entirely reasonable. Also seems like a kid that is carefully weighing his options and will commit to the school that he truly wants to be at. -
Seems like a North Carolina heavy lean. Will be on their campus this week.

Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's
Stuhoo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Our basketball team will easily have as much or more NIL than UT's basketball team. I like Ledlum over Battle because of leadership qualities, and because Ledlum can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket, and can offensive rebound. Now that we are going to have our bigs play more on the perimeter, having multiple options that can use a high screen and play with the ball in their hands is critical. -
Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's
Stuhoo replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I greatly prefer Ledlum to Battle. Best case scenario is if the staff, seeing Gunn and Banks on a daily basis, knows that they've got at least one effective home-developed rotation player between them. I'm a big fan of Wayne's use of the verb "portaling." -
I would be very surprised if Edey makes less tha $500k in NIL from Purdue. They are allowed to set it up for him to work for Canadian charities, and they have.
