There's no "unless." This is Woody's last year as the IU coach.

Good catch, doc. I wonder who is injured.

I don’t think it’s an issue if we get the next hire right in the eyes of our big donors. When Cig was hired money started rolling in, and that was before we took a snap and for a historically terrible program.

Generally? It's not as bad as you think. And it's not as good as you think. With that guidance, this feels like an 8 to 11 B1G win team.

Cousins had a flawless first quarter. Edit: ... and then was terrible for the next three quarters.

And the men got seven votes today! -
Loyer was a fantastic asset with Edey because Edey was drawing a double and sometimes triple team every time he touched the ball. And when Loyer got roasted on straight line drives he had a 7'4" guy waiting at the rim; but not anymore. His shooting is still excellent without Edey because a really good squared up shot form doesn't change. But without Edey he's had to handle the ball more and his turnovers have increased by exactly 50% this season versus last season and the season before. Without Edey? Loyer is (no disrespect to Matt) Matt Roth at IU. A deadly open catch and shoot guy that can't do much else and is a proven lousy defender. For crying out loud, Loyer, as a tons of minutes starting junior, STILL gets subbed out during end game defensive situations. And this year he's getting subbed out in favor of two freshmen guards, Harris and Cox.

Landino strikes me as a full-on rotation guy going forward. He's got burst and motor, and getting non-garbage time snaps at DE as a freshman is a serious accomplishment. -
USC is a crap basketball program with mediocre facilities and limited NIL, Musselman didn't get past the Elite 8 at a fantastic basketball program, Musselman was notably trending down at Arkansas, and Musselman is now in his 60's. The chances of USC being a legit title contender in the next five-ten years is miniscule, whereas IU and MSU with a 'lighting strikes' new coach could be instant legit title contenders, along the lines of UK with Pope.

I know, I know; most will say the answer is “none.” But I thought it might be interesting in the current environment to rank the most likely B1G teams to be next to win a natty. I will start: 1. Illinois 2. UCLA 3. Indiana (resources, new coach coming soon) 4. Michigan 5. MSU for me that’s the whole list with even a remote chance at a title in the next five+ years.

No. They don’t

Not that strange. Development of players is in a very real way about constant effective communication and reinforcement of mindset. Getting tons of shots up is hard-wired in to most P5 recruits by the time they get to college, so that’s not really where the majority of development comes. Our staff has severely lacked the implementation of successful attention to detail and a focused culture.

For me Woodson is clearly the problem, but it’s not his fault. The difference? A guy like him should have self-belief and should be honored to get a very well paid dream job at his alma mater that he loves dearly. And he was and is. But that doesn’t make him good enough or the right choice.

Wow. Among the various indictments of Woodson and staff that one definitely rates.

Sold… Jonas Hayes to IU! -
I would 100% put Purdue in the bottom half of the B1G for chances to win a title. Their recruiting and resources suck, and their campus and national vibe aren’t all that great either. The only thing they have going for them is a good coach, but that’s not enough to win a title. IU’s chances with “2025 coach unknown” are significantly higher.

Woof. Two things can be true: Mike Woodson is not the answer Neither is Dane Fife.

Damn straight they’re having second thoughts. Too late though.
