2015 Transfers and Early Entries
Stuhoo replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The way he played last year versus the year before? Something was amiss. Kudos to young Mr. Pitchford for concentrating on getting his college degree. If he wants, he can play the following year. -
PS: I love Btownbanners, partly because y'all are willing to put up with me! :)
-
Stop telling me what to think about BTB! "I would never join any club that would have me as a member." Groucho Marx (and Stuhoo)
-
Just saying...this may be your best post ever. And I like your other posts!
-
CTC's greatest attribute is his work ethic and passion for the game. When players develop at IU, that is evidence of this coaching staff's influence on players with the proper mindset.
-
I'm not arguing about Glass saying supportive things regarding CTC. He is! What I am saying is that AD Glass is a lawyer and a very smart guy. He chooses his words carefully. A complete endorsement would not need to include ANY of the compliments that he threw CTC's way. It would simply consist of: "Tom Crean WILL BE the Indiana Men's Basketball coach for the coming season." Glass has not done that. And I believe that is telling.
-
Ironically, it would be very similar to the reaction that Joani Crean's brother just received at Michigan.
-
The administration should note that... The Boston Celtics dropped out of the playoff projections into ninth place tonight.
-
Not quite, my Crean-supportive friend! Three weeks ago he said: "I'm bullish on Tom...He's done a really good job with these guys. It's ridiculous to say that someone is coaching for his job for one game and that it would be up or down in one game...He's a great coach...He has my full support. I have a great deal of confidence in Tom's body of work. This team overachieved early and then hit a tough patch." "There is a sense that Tom is only keeping his job because of the buyout...And while that's a big number and a significant amount of money, that's not what is keeping him in the job. I think he needs to be the coach. ... I want him to be the coach here." What he DID NOT say three weeks ago is that..."He's staying"
-
The AD DID NOT say "he's staying". The AD said "I continue to support Tom Crean as our coach." Those are VERY different statements. Very, very different.

This.

20-14? That sucks.

(2015) C Diamond Stone to Maryland
Stuhoo replied to JSHoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Not sure why so many bust on Bo Ryan. He runs a CLEAN program that wins. He makes the B1G look good - no sarcasm...for real. -
Those of you that think that this release by Glass was an endorsement are, in my opinion, being extremely naive. "Tom Crean will be the coach next season" would have been an endorsement. Anything else? I'm with 41.

(2015) C Caleb Swanigan to MSU
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That's how the law's proponents would describe it. That's not how the law's opponents would describe it. In any event...this could end up turning into a wholly political thread ( :( ) and should probably get back on point. I shall attempt to do so: Caleb Swanigan: the second coming of Jared Sullinger. Will only play for a Nike school. Has a pro player agent as his benefactor. May play his college ball at either Kensucky or Chicago State. Discuss. -
He signed what amounts to a tenant at will lease. Not an issue.

Happy Birthday Coach Crean. Love, Stan! https://instagram.com/p/0qkcHGvMDy/

Conditional offers are a reality of the recruiting process. It's my speculation, but I'm pretty sure that if Hyron Edwards has an offer, it's a conditional offer.

Now I get your point, and I agree: Calipari has recruited more quality bigs than CTC. No question. However, the ahem..."motivation" for some of those recruits, and the academic "pass the giggle test" for some of them allowed Calipari to bring in more than a couple (Davis, Cousins, Jones, Noel, Randle) that I would rather not have IU deal with. I think you're missing the primary area where Calipari does appear to be superior to CTC: defensive execution.
-
Soooo....IU's CTC 5 star bigs that you mentioned: How did they leave IU? Looks like we went two for two as lottery picks. Two for two as first rounders. Calipari's 5 star bigs at UK: How did they leave UK? (Noel, Davis, Jones, Cousins, Wiltjer, Dakari Johnson, Lee, Lyles, Cauley-Stein, Towns, Randle, (not counting Poythress as he's damaged goods): five for eleven in lotto, (assuming Lyles and Lee go pro - currently not lotto projected, and Towns goes pro and will be in lotto), eight for eleven in first round (not likely Dakari, Lee, Wiltjer). Another barometer? IU's 5 star bigs: One for two are Academic All-Americans with college degree. UK's 5 star bigs: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

See! Now That's more like it: Direct. Informative. To the point.

Take off those blue-tinted glasses, brother!! ;)

Condescending posts suck.

And Doc Libby agrees! ;) Geez, some of y'all could take a baby's giggle and turn it into some "read between the lines" ultra conspiracy, or use it as an excuse to remind all what's wrong with whatever is bugging you. And some of you never do that! (FWIW, all of you should never do that.)
