(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yes we are: I believe it is Rivals that has him as a 4 star and has about 1/2 of the B1G as having offered. -

Don't know how interested we are, but we are the only major on that narrowed down list. -
Jeff Howard is the poor man's Jared Odle. So there.

Not from what I've heard/read. JB2 is pretty special, but Harris is a little bigger and stronger. As a catch and shoot mega-star with lots of other skills? JB can be really special. I think of JB2 's game sorta like what I saw (and loved) when we went up against Shabazz Napier earlier this year.

Y'all are attaching far more importance to position than a basketball coach would. Coaches don't think about "1 guard, 2 guard". They think about the skill sets of their players, and try to put those skill sets into positions where they can succeed. Those skills can and will differ on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. The smaller players tend to be quicker, handle the ball better and score from outside more often, but as long as a team is complete in its ability to get those skills from somewhere, it's all good. Between Stan, JB, and Yogi, next year we will hopefully have multiple smaller players who handle the ball, make outside shots, get to the rim, and defend a variety of size and quickness sets from our opponents' smaller players.

All_Hoosiers...this is NOT directed at you in any way, but since you raised the point: Hoosier fanbase overreaction #1: Turnovers are killing us. Why can't we do something about all dem cursed turnovers!!?!! Hoosier fanbase overreaction #2: Why is that walk-on Howard getting all dem minutes instead of talented kids like Perea, Davis, and the rejuvenated Hollowell!!?!!

ok...Most goodest?

Here's are concepts that I'm starting to grasp: 1) Stan Robinson and Yogi Ferrell going to the rim are turning into the bestest offense we've got. 2) Our other bestest offense at times is an open Noah Vonleh three-ball. 3) Our third bestest offense is our wings crashing the boards. Above-listed offense 'number 2' helps to clear lots of space for above-listed offenses 'one' and 'three'.

S T A N Was really excellent. As always.

Also; This will be a redundant post that can be rinsed and repeated throughout the next 3 1/2 years: Stan Robinson was absolutely great today.

Seven B1G teams are likely to make the NCAA tournament. The current top six are: UM, MSU, Iowa, OSU, UW, and Minn. That leaves one spot for: Nebraska, Penn State, NW (too many losses even if they do well in conf) NOPE, NOPE, NOPE Purdue, Illinois, and Indiana I think we are the best team and the most likely... to be the seventh. EDIT: Minny drops to 4-4 in conference. Let's make it Minny, us and Purdooo for three spots.

What are your feelings on Coach Crean?
Stuhoo replied to KingDaddy40's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No sarcasm! I agree that Coach Crean's half court offense can get pretty stagnant and relies far too much on dribble-kick instead of screening and passing. However, IU has been consistently excellent on offensive inbounds plays during the CTC era. Defensive inbounds plays? I still have Tyler Griffey nightmares. -

A lot of this has been discussed ad nauseum before, but I will say that Tom Crean coached teams are some of the best at inbounds plays that I have seen. Definitely a strength of his coaching skills. -

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. He's been jonesing for a fantasy baseball league for quite some time, but there aren't many baseball freaks in middle school. My kid read Bill James' Baseball Abstract cover to cover when he was 8. Didn't want him in a league with strangers, though some would say that there aren't many stranger than the group that will be showing up for this party. -

Gents; My 6th grade son is a baseball FREAK, and while I consider myself a moderately knowledgeable sports fan, he knows more about baseball than me. In fact, he knows more about the 1935 St. Louis Browns than any of us know about the 2013-14 IU basketball team. Therefore, I would like to humbly submit my son, Alexhoo, as the defender of the Stuhoo family name and a participant in the free league. If that is acceptable, be prepared to have the young lad kick many of your sorry asses on a regular basis. -
(2014) PF Matt Cimino to GW
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I would amend that slightly. Devin doesn't need more minutes: He just needs time. -
I was gonna go with Peter Jurkin or Jeff Howard with the tomahawk slam, but that would have been far less plausible.
-
Must have been film of that time during the last game when Johnny Marlin posted Dawson up, spun, and delivered a two-handed tomahawk slam while screaming like a banshee!

Austin is limited athletically (especially when compared to most of our other rotation players) but he absolutely should be able to carve out a 15-20 mpg role.

Prediction League Game 20 (Week 11) IU vs Illinois (01/26/14)
Stuhoo replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Illini - some Your Indiana University Hoosiers - Many more You guys will enjoy this next one. -
Good lord. We lost by five on the road to the #3 team in the country with exactly one available player on our roster who averaged more than 10 minutes per game last year. I wish we would have won; it would've been really, really fantastic. But reading your post one would think we did next to nothing right. Your posts do not cause me to worry about the Indiana basketball team, they cause me to worry about... you.

We've got one. His name is Devin Davis, and he needs to be developing. -
Wow. What an incredible resume! Major kudos to CKW on this hire.

Then you may be a little unrealistic in this day and age, unless you want to be a pro developmental league team like Kentucky. To me, the optimum recruit is a guy like Stan Robinson (or Will, or Vic). Good enough to be a key piece for a national championship team, but also at school long enough to get a college degree. With that comes a player who is far, far more productive during years three and four. There are VERY few college basketball players that hang around long enough for a degree AND are immediate, instant impact mega-stars. Balanced recruiting classes of players who will develop into something really good is the antidote.
