Tom Crean: "We've gotta get our kids to understand that they are playing for Indiana, and not at Indiana". I know, I know, he should've been the one to already have taught them that, but it's still a very succinct way of getting to the crux of the problem with today's college athletes. -
It's the reality of the coaching carousel. If a coach is considered a lame duck and is getting near the end of his contract, it is a clear signal to recruits that the coach will not be there. In other words, the death knell for any chance of recruiting success. The only solution is to give said coach an extension and then eat the buyout when you want to get rid of the coach.

YES! The Addidas Nation elite competition team that they outplayed included Kansas's top three guys. Lindy's has IU at 4 and Kansas at 6.

Why not middle schoolers? (Full disclosure: I have two kids in middle school) (More disclosure: neither is named "Bob")

True. Emmitt Holt getting the same suspension last year as Hanner the year before is insanity. -
My nine year old can break my ankles, and he's just as good or a little better than me from the 3pt line. I can still post him up

+1! My 50 year old knees hate my backyard bball court.

When an honest, professional law enforcement officer prepares reports, those reports are accurate and complete. Happens all the time. And that's a fact. -

If they could get all-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith to file a legal motion on their behalf they might just have a fighting chance here! (lol/tic) -

THIS! The police do not "often violate constitutional rights". They infrequently do, and when that happens, that case should be dismissed, and if statutorily appropriate and viable, that officer should be prosecuted to the full extent possible. -

I don't talk like as lawyer? Excellent... THAT is a huge compliment. (really!) Besides; on this site I'm not a lawyer. I'm an opinionated bonehead. Also; well over 90% of criminal cases plead out. In the federal system it's over 95%. Now and then it's because the resources to fight the charges were not available, but usually it's because the case is absolutely provable and the defendant was destined to lose. A minor in possession of alcohol misdemeanor is often a prima facia conviction. -

Nope. They did not. However, I'm not representing these two. I'm just a message board poster spouting opinions about these two! -

My IU law degree educated me that the proper way to represent someone is to look out for the client's best interests. That may include fighting a charge, and it may include apologizing for a relatively minor legal indiscretion and moving on with your life. Especially when you got caught red handed committing that relatively minor legal indiscretion. -

And by the way, I think that both Bryant and Holt should stay on the team and suffer minimal disciplinary consequences. -

A bad lawyer only tells a client they are "innocent until proven guilty". A good lawyer tells their client... The truth. -

Sure...Holt and Bryant are 18/19 year old college students who got caught red handed by the police with a bottle of vodka. The last thing they should do is to pretend to be "crusaders for legal justice". They need to apologize profusely to their teammates, family, fans, and fellow students, and get to work on their assigned college course load.
