Truly sad news, but thank goodness they diagnosed this in time. Heartfelt wishes to Jay Simpson for a long, healthy, successful future. With or without basketball. @GoldandBlackcom: #Purdue redshirt fr. Jay Simpsona€™s career is over due to the heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyotrophy (HCM), school says in release.

OT: UK OADs Get No College Degree, AND Have No BBall Skills
Stuhoo posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not that they'll tank this game too, but holy crap. Look at their halftime score against the worst team in the SEC! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17) Kentucky: 28 (21-7, 11-4 SEC) South Carolina: 31 (10-18, 3-12 SEC) -
It's because I got taught good grammer. JMO. Hoosier forever. Go IU.

More wisdom Coach Crean has picked up from various IU message boards: 1) Replace Dwight Shrute haircut with a rockin' mullet! Jaybob 2) Use them new-fangled transistor radios to scout opponents. John Freed 3) When all else fails, drink heavily! KyleHornsbyRules 4) It's hopeless. We suck. IUfanCharlie 5) Trade Joani for one of my 12 ex-wives! 5fouls 6) Run Sloan-screen 45, dammit! GoColts 7) We may not always play well, but the players are...dreamy! MrsBigCodyLukeMaxPope 8) Pssst: If these players let you down, there's a three star in Schenectady that I have good video on. ccgeneral and hoosierpap

(2014) PF Marvin Clark to MSU
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Sure seems like 'plan A' is to take the first two who might bite from Marvin Clark, Josh Cunningham, and Jackson Davis. The nice part is, it seems to be setting up so that MC and JC will be the first two to decide. -

"Jaundiced rodents" That's some funny stuff -
Seeing Doc Libby's words crystallized my mindset about our young Hoosiers: Get ready to have some fun y'all; this team is about to turn the corner. It starts this week at home against Penn State, and it keeps getting better thereafter. It won't be perfect, but it's about to be really fun. Get ready Hoosier Nation; we're closer than you think. Get ready Hoosier Nation; our three key freshmen have enough minutes under their belts. Get ready Hoosier Nation; Hanner is starting to feel more comfortable and use his athleticism Get ready Hoosier Nation: Jeremy is starting to shoot with confidence. Pull this thread or give me a virtual pummeling if it proves completely off-base, but get ready... Here come some wins.

How will you feel if B beats D this Wednesday? ;)

Yup. Sure looks like we have made a bit of progress, eh?

Not a positive when a recruit doesn't make the trip, but the weather certainly did not help.

1) The B1G is likely, top to bottom, the best conference in America this year. 2) Winning streaks against ranked B1G opponents are GREAT evidence of improvement and accomplishment. 3) Standing by the team through thick and thin is a good thing. A very good thing. (As long as your team is working hard, working toward college degrees, and is accepting coaching). 4) The Hoosiers are playing three guys out of nine or ten rotation players who had rotation minutes in college basketball before this year. My expectations for the team this year were that they would take plenty of lumps, but that as the year progressed the offensive spacing and ball movement, turnover ratio, team unity, defensive rotation and help-side defense, and decision making would all improve, and that would lead to more wins. That is currently what I see going on. Won't happen every game, but it's happening.

In any event, it's getting hard to see how an NBA team would be interested in this kind of mental instability. -
Not in any way doubting your IU fandom. However, when your response is ten emoticons and a personal insult? That's not likely to change the minds of folks who think you are embarrassed that you were proven wrong.

I betcha he becomes an announcer ala Bruce Pearl. -
Sounds like a post from someone who is so concerned with the embarrassment of being wrong that he can't enjoy a win over a ranked team. A win by a team that is young, but without any question is developing, improving, and rallying behind each other, their senior leader, and their head coach, Mr. Tom Crean.

My choice for "Most valuable?" Coach Tom Crean and his staff. This team is developing lately in a big way on both ends of the court, and doing so against ranked teams. Other teams without leadership at the top at times give up on their coaches (ahem, wonder who that could be?) Not these young Hoosiers. Damn straight. -

1) REBOUNDING 2) ON-BALL DEFENSE 3) OFF-BALL DEFENSE 4) CATCH N SHOOT PS: If you haven't noticed, he's one of the primary reasons we're up 8 at the half against a ranked team. -
(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Agree that PJ doesn't count. I think that Hanner will be a valuable defensive piece in the future. JUCOs and grad transfers? Dean Garrett is NOT walking through that door. Ya know what a high-end 6'10" grad transfer big looks like? Sandi Marcuis. A high-end JUCO center? Eloy Vargas. -
Can PJ contribute during game situations against higher-level competition? I know what Jeff Howard can do: he will provide maximum effort and awareness and most importantly, will not turn the ball over or make many mistakes. However, Jeff is limited from a physical standpoint. With Peter, those that want to see him get game minutes need to understand that he will make mistakes; moving screens, bringing the ball down to where guards can swipe at it, and at times lesser reaction in help-side defense. Moreover, I have no idea whether Peter's legs have healed to the point that he is able to play without limitations. So; I pose this question to the gallery: Does anyone have any substantive info as to whether Peter is truly and finally healthy?

(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Hey, I'm a middle-aged hoops fan in the suburbs. My post is not necessarily an endorsement of Josh Cunningham. My point is that high-level players can be a little less tall and still very effective. Seven footers aren't necessary. Matt Howard (first example that came into my mind) took Butler to two straight national championship games as a 6'7" skinny center. Bobby Wilkerson jumped center and was a leading rebounder on an undefeated national champion as a 6'6" two-guard. -

We need tough, talented, hard working, good shooting basketball players. To use an old phrase in a completely different way; "Size doesn't matter". -

And so it goes...welcome to next year's OAD kid playing for the cameras, Big Blew Nation!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "After nearly two decades, four divisional titles and a sectional crown, Piscataway Tech boys basketball coach Karl Towns Sr. is stepping down. He is stepping away so he can more closely follow his son Karl Jr’s impending college basketball career at Kentucky. The younger Karl is a senior at St. Joseph-Metuchen High School and one of the top schoolboy talents in the country." -
