16/18 IUFB vs Nebraska - Saturday, 10.19.24 @ Noon - HOMECOMING

Wonder where El Presidente ended up eating last night. He was getting a lot of Little Zagrebs, Mother Bear, or Buffalouise. So as you could imagine every “fan” spot in Bloomington outside of Little Zagrebs. -

Fellas, fellas, fellas…. It’s a beautiful day. Your undefeated Hoosier football team is playing at home tomorrow. Go for a walk or watch a movie. Smoke a joint, eat an edible, or have a drink. Pace yourselves. You were given the answer to the tests two weeks in advance. Be thankful, and move on. Great kid picked a great spot for him. -

Best of luck kid. Not an easy place to win or draw interest. Good kid. Good family. Mullins you are up. -

To be clear I know nothing more than other peoples opinions and how people feel the wind is blowing. I just like this gif. -

Sounds like IU basketball is trying to go all OSU football now. Not a bad thing if you got the resources. Big pick up on Sisley. If we get both 5* and a big, we are cooking talent wise. -

Yes he is, and the plot twist most definitely made this thread one of the most epic recruiting threads I can remember. CCG would be proud. -
Yessir! Ready to get to the fall and football. Closer to basketball. Have to find new habits this year. The days of getting trashed and staying up to listen to Walton are sadly over. Excited to see what our guards can do. Hopeful we can just be a better shooting team and be better with the ball for a change. Been a rough few years in those regards.

Man some days all you can do is laugh at our institution. Our athletic department as a whole has been an absolute **** show for all of our lives. But I don’t think that as far as the institution goes. But the last 20ish years? It’s one thing after another. Forget basketball. It’s been a joke for 25 years. Will never not support it, and will be the biggest sunshine pumper there is. But it’s a **** show. Anyone suggests otherwise is lying to themselves. I just have always thought, and been consistent for close to 20 years on these boards it goes way higher and it won’t be fixed for a long time. Even then how much damage did it take to get there? There is no exit plan in place after Woody. We all know it. It just keeps getting progressively worse in all areas of the University. I have zero confidence they get anything right. And I know they read these comments.

Expectations for the 24-25 Season
mdn82 replied to Unexpectedflash's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That’s really the big thing. I expect more wins than most when we are including both tournaments. I think we can get to 24+ wins before the BTT and expect some success after. But it’s only April. The teams we are playing against are also trying to get better. The teams like us are going to have to gel over the summer. We have talent, but a lot will come down to how well they come together over the summer and fall. A lot can and will change between now and the end of the next season. I like where our talent mostly is, but more excited to see if we can take a step forward this year. Really need to see wins. Can’t wait either way. -
Expectations for the 24-25 Season
mdn82 replied to Unexpectedflash's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Winning is key. There needs to be a decent amount of positive momentum this season. Still a backup big and a knock down shooter, but there are no perfect teams. You have 3-32% 3 pt shooters that could/should take a jump. All 3 have a FT% that shows they just need to put shots up over the summer and they will be fine. Expectations with the roster we have and our opponents? We need to be a top 5 seed (could be top 2-3 seed), Sweet 16+, 28+ wins, top 2 or 3 B1G team, top 30 offensively, top 40 defensively, etc. Do I expect that all? Nope. Have to see how it all gels. Most talented team since 2012 imo. Just hope Gallo is more sophomore Sheehey and not senior Sheehey. Think that will be huge getting him in the right role for our team beyond stability at the PG spot. But winning Nov-March will go a long way to giving our NIL currency more value down the road. Not playing down to our competition will also help. -
Transfer Portal w IU Interest
mdn82 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Big time upgrade from what we have had in position probably since Yogi. X had talent, but it didn’t translate to consistency in production. Big first get. Keep stacking talent. We need it everywhere. Still want 2 more dudes that can go out get theirs when needed, and knock down open 3’s. -
Transfer Portal w IU Interest
mdn82 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I feel your pain mods and do not in the least envy you. Really want Conwell. Not too overly interested in Boogie. One and done, and we should be able to find better, more consistent production for that timeframe in the portal. Just wish we could get some dudes (atleast 2-3) that could get their own shot as well as hit from deep 36%+. Don’t recall who said it, but having a team that can hit 75% free throws would go a long way. The mid 60s from the line is probably more aggravating than the horrible 3 pt percentage/takes even though that has more impact on the game. -
Personally I think the level of arrogance he showed recruiting (mainly expecting kids to flock to Indiana because it’s Indiana and not getting out there) is the same mentality he has shown towards the fans with his comments. I also feel he is an arrogant and stubborn coach in that his inability to change or read the room on the modern game is impacting his ability to adapt and succeed. Very intelligent dude, but his arrogance is impossible to overcome. It is not Indiana of the 80’s. The game is not played like it was in the 80’s. Recruiting is not what it was in the 80’s. Now knowing he is back for sure there needs to be a succession plan whether or not he succeeds next year. What’s the plan for future sustained success beyond Woody? That really needs to be laid out at some level over the coming days and months. There needs to be a plan of corrective actions on how to build relationships in state and on the recruiting trail. Then there needs to be changes on how we play the game next season. This just does not work in 2024. Imo

Well not a lot has changed in the last couple of years it seems since I last logged on. USPS enjoy the next couple of weeks. Go IU
-
That’s a great question. Not sure 100% on those rules. They have spring semester enrollees to get them going in the program all of the time. That’s when football players come and go. Not sure how they completely navigate that.
-
No it doesn’t after spring semester.
-
It’s only 1 of 2 if they transfer in season, and in good academic standing. Scholarships are renewed after the spring semester, before the 1st summer session every year. So there can be a clean split from either side prior to that if the player is in good academic standing.

Great pickup at this point or any point really. The size plays right away. Welcome to IU!

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
mdn82 replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Precisely. -
Hey man, with the coaching change they didn’t have their normal exit interviews which would typically include a development plan. Coach Woodson is watching hours of data, practices, and game film to compile those now that the internal options are set. At the earliest we will probably start seeing those trickle out individually is probably over the next couple of weeks. We will probably see some short bursts of content from them, but probably not much this year until after the start of the first summer session. This is how it has mostly been the last few coaching changes after the rosters were set or blown up.

I too am curious how they handle this one. After Smith they stuck in family for three hires. Third time was the charm. I don’t know peoples personal beliefs on Dean Smith, but at the time most certainly felt he was on that RMK level. They were good again within 10 years. Wish we had that ambition.

Good luck coach. I became a fan of his explicitly because of that Raef Lafrentz and Jacque Vaughn team in the 90s at Kansas. UNC poaching him from Kansas was phenomenal on their part at the time. Then Kansas poaching Self coming off a title game was equally phenomenal. Enjoy retirement sir.
