That actually is fairly normal for local reporters. Unfortunately we have had much experience since the turn of the century to see what is normal. Your 247/scout/Rivals is their model to sell you stuff. Local reporters? Osterman, ITH, etc. leave it at a high level reporting to not be biased as to piss of IU (it does and we found out when Terry was writing for us - they didn’t like our negativity). That’s part of the reason this website almost merged with Inside The Hall almost a decade ago. Edit: If I mixed up my BTB and HSN again, my apologies. Whenever Terry wrote for us that year before he passed away. Only part of that I am not 100% on. Been on too many IU boards.

Why do you feel they can’t sniff anything out? Because they aren’t reporting what they hear to the masses and 100% lose their access. Makes sense
-
I am warming up to McCollum. Think that’s the level we end up with if they don’t feel good on Beard or can’t land McDermott/TJO.
-
Wishful thinking much like Brad Stevens, is still wishful thinking.
-
Yep. People don’t want to hear where we are potentially headed, but it’s more realistic than what we have been shouted down with. It may not happen, but that’s the type of candidate where it’s been for over a week. I hope he is wrong on TJO and hope he will be a part of the convo at the end, but doesn’t seem promising there.
-
That’s what it was.
-
Damn, and I was hoping to use this gif when our next coach was hired for our new friend.
-
He isn’t the sexiest name for many, but I think he wins the most out of this cycle in the right spot. I also think the way his teams play is sustainable in the B1G. Not the easiest conference to transition to.
-
I really hope TJO gets to be a part of the final discussion and evaluated as a final candidate. Haven’t heard anything on him, but he absolutely should be approached, imo.
-
Might be better for our moral high ground depending on position. *ducks*

It’ll get weirder before it gets sane. Nowhere near a conclusion. Take it all in like dropping acid from MKUltra with Bill Walton.

Best debates in American political history, imo.
-
Meh, American History is so boring. I have a preference to European History. I am very partial to post Gutenberg Printing Press Europe, and the decline of the power the Roman Catholic Church held afterwards. Or the French Revolution, Montesquieu, or Versailles during that time. But if I had to pick an American History timeframe I would go with 1890s Imperialism, and the nationalism not only here but worldwide that led explicitly to the World Wars, modern Olympics, and expansionism. Civil War is so played out for me. Edit: Most useless minor I have, but entertaining nonetheless.

Oh damn, I didn’t even think about that end of it. Hopefully they don’t, and hopefully IU doesn’t play in Dayton so you can enjoy it. And me too.

The Mecca of March. Death, taxes, and USPS watching every basketball game like it’s a Christmas present being opened up. Still love that bracket you got for Christmas a few years ago. I need one, but I need your setup more. Didn’t even think about the grouping from 6 to 9. Would love to see a couple 8/9 clip a 1.
-
Fellas, it’s not that deep. No offers have been made. Enjoy the rollercoaster and pace yourselves. 4 years is a long wait for the next coaching search.
-
How are your brackets lining up this year? Going to be a tough year to project? Or more so at the bubble?
-
This is where I am at this point. I have been a very vocal Brad Stevens supporter for 15 years. I think Dusty would have been ideal if not Stevens. Just win baby. I am over the last 30 years of this program. The people I most feel sorry for are the ones that witnessed Knight come in at a young age and are still fans. Just win.
-
And that’s fair. I was just trying to add with levity that no matter what there will always be other coaches recruiting negatively against you. No matter if you are Bob Knight or Archie. At the end of the day, money talks in the NIL era. Long recruitments where things like this would be more prevalent are less in this era. Not saying it won’t happen or he isn’t a dbag. Just saying, they will all recruit against each other and over 90% are probably dbags for their own selfish reasons.
-
And a minority of recruits wouldn’t like Woody cause he doesn’t know their name. Recruits didn’t like Archie cause he was odd. Recruits didn’t like Crean cause he clogged their toilets. Recruits didn’t…. Well ****, they liked Sampson. Recruits liked Davis cause he let them do what they wanted. Coin flip if recruits liked our coach in the last 25 years?
-
This is where I am. Will he become the coach here? Hell I don’t know. I know donors that say they are sure he is a candidate. Is that the university putting out a smokescreen for their own reasons? I don’t know. Even if he is a candidate he clearly wouldn’t be the only one. It will play out how it plays out. Any emotions beyond that are personal bias trying to speak into existence. It’s not that deep until they make an offer.
-
By bringing in out of state students?
-
We will see.

He can easily get the $7-$10 million a year with Beard for NIL. If he interviews him, he has money lined up.
