Agree there man. Same as Hanner. Upside is huge. If it pans out great. If not, we should have had Luke, who was a basketball player. I think we should have had 2 Lukes, and one less Peter Jurkin. His upside in length is there, but his body hasn't been since he was a sophomore in high school. You have to plan like he won't play. We never have. We are always scrambling for bigs. I don't get that with the amount of scholarships we have.

It has to be suspension. Crean may sit someone for short spurts, but doesn't sit them the whole game.
-
Jeremy Hollowell hasn't played.

This is where I am. I have no doubts how good we can be. How high our upside is. How good we should be next year. Certain things can be avoided to limit this bad of a season. We aren't going to be title contenders every year. It would be nice to balance out the recruiting of wings and bigs. That factor has caused so many issues throughout Crean's tenure. In modern basketball, you can't plan for attrition. In the past it was a little more than non-existent. Now, you have to have a balanced lineup to maintain the ability to keep going. Beyond that, who Crean picks will either make him a genius or an idiot. I prefer less emphasis on athletes and more on IQ. There has to be some balance there.

God… Noah with a late 2nd foul 2 games in a row. Can't do that.
-
Completely agree. His IQ and understanding angles gets him in the right position more times than not. Doesn't mean it always ends pretty, but that dude is always around the ball. You can't teach that.

We needed that!

You know, I am all for putting the last couple of games on losing Fischer and that extra important inside presence. IMO, this comes down to years of over-recruiting wings for Crean and lack of concern for impact depth inside. Even if he thought Luke was that man with Hanner, you have 2 positions. You aren't playing 3 bigs the entire game when you run 10 guards out there. That is my biggest beef with the structure of this team before Luke left. Coaching is another discussion. I just feel these guys don't have as high of a BB IQ as is needed to be successful. You don't have to shoot 60% to be successful if you are playing smart and careful with the ball.

Lol, its everyone else's fault.

We need to get this down to 6 or so the way we are playing. This is crazy how bad we are playing.
-
Yep. Love our zone.
-
We were fortunate enough to be there when they hired O'brien too. We need to quit playing in PSU in January.
-
Nope. We can't get a body on anyone. Worst defensive game of the year by far if this continues in the second half. Syracuse was a half. This is as bad as that.

Every team is playing at a different speed than us. We just aren't good right now.

Flipping Penn St. has better spacing than us.

And we are off…..

Prediction League Game 16 (Week 9) IU vs Penn St (01/11/14)

I predict that won't happen, even if it should. -
F'ing sweet!

Just like last year. Only deeper, with better teams. Last year there were only a handful of teams who could legitimately get hot and run the table. This year it is double that. Teams you don't even think of right now will be there at the end like Duke, Kansas, Florida. Hell, even Kentucky has the talent to run the table if they got hot. What you are seeing now is the top teams with veteran leadership doing what they should. Some of the young kids will figure it out. Some won't. The tournament this year will be fun.

After the whole Luke Fischer thing, I am trying to reassess my wants vs. needs with this woman.

What makes us IU fans so hard to please?
mdn82 replied to jdailey1981's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They aren't too boring this year. They just don't make mistakes AND hit shots. I don't look for this to be the year we beat them. Never thought I would say that in my life about Wisconsin. -
He is in B'town for Spring Semester!
-
I am not CC, but that won't be the case. Once kids get into a situation, they may think its worse than what they originally thought. Take Hartman for example. He may have thought he would see 10 min a game, and obviously isn't. He sees 3 incoming freshman, 2 of which are better than him. He doesn't have a role on this team. I hope no kid transfers. The whole starting thing is overblown a lot of the time. As you and anyone not named Ray Charles knows, Crean does some hockey shifts during the game. Being a starter guarantees you the 1st 2 minutes at most before he starts throwing boilers at the wall. I could see a kid transferring due to the hectic rotations before not starting. They don't have time to notice the starting lineup before the shifts come.

# of Indiana teams to make the tourney?
mdn82 replied to coachmayhew's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I would say very good nobody makes it. When ND lost Grant, that killed them long term. That Duke win was huge, so if they tread water in conference they are golden. Outside of that, I don't see any team making it. If I were betting, I would take the state, just because the odds are more favorable of a team getting hot. Just hard to see at first glance. -
Outside of Syracuse, that may have been the worst game to be on the internet for. Maybe Illinois last year.
