1.   That is true, but the industrial aspect (money) is more on our side then theirs.  They just don't have the money for the projects we usually lead the way on.  Always been that way.  Not saying it is going to continue to be that way.  Before anybody brings up the we really don't have money argument, neither do they.  They pay for things when the price comes down.  I wasn't saying anything on Europeans as a whole culture.  Their culture is far different than Russian.  Russians didn't become Industrial until right before WWI.  Just saying we lead the way in many "normal" daily life functions.  The modern sewer system comes from Europe, but beyond that most concepts are American.  We as a country are good at labor (mass production) and thinking big.  Europeans are good at perfecting American concepts.  Always been that way.  I love History.  If there is one place I go before I die it is Versailles.  You give me a week at the Palace of Versailles and I could make a week of it.  If I can be picky, I am spending a month in Italy.  If I didn't do what I do, I would be a History Professor with an emphasis on European History.  I was majoring in History for a while, but Medical pays better.  Took the minor if I ever wanted to be an adjunct.  IU's History program is really excellent.  My funnest courses to be honest.  I am actually going back to hopefully make more money.  I am going to incorporate the History aspect hopefully.  Sorry for the jumbled mess my man.  History is the only thing I care about more than IU basketball.  I am an 80 year old in a 30 year old's body with all of the books I read and History Channel I watch.
2. MSU - Duke - Florida - OSU (Ohio St.)  I have a hunch for some reason OSU will get hot at the right time.  They were a legit top 3 team with veterans and then kind of went to crap.  They are the team I see getting hot and making this a "name" Final Four.
I've heard that the waste basket next to the toilet thing is actually the norm in most countries, especially ones that are "less Western", if you will. Small pipes can't handle the paper very well. Even in some of the more popular European cities. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Worst part is Russia is typically 50 years behind the rest of Europe in their biggest cities, let alone resort towns. Hell Europe is typically 20 years behind us, and it has been that way since the American Industrial Revolution, which was just behind the one that started in England. Only time in the last 200 years a European country was ahead of us in anything. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

KenPom ratings

They use the data of every game played for the statistical probability of each outcome of game.  From there it is a simple bell curve to decide who should win.  They are probably the most accurate in determining games.  The flip side to that is their rankings because they take into account adjusted tempo in their rankings and in the previous 10 years you would see a team like Wisconsin always at or near the top (even if they weren't a top 10 team) due to their "style".  They take care of the ball and are efficient which KenPom likes.  Their bell is skewed on them due to the higher stress on each possession since they have fewer.  They are usually dead balls on us.  After you get past about oh, 10 games or so, they are pretty accurate.

NCAA Tournament?

I would go with Team A mainly due to losing to one less team outside of the top 50.  Plus, they lost to one less top 50 team.  To me, the SOS is too close for those to overlook.  I am sure it is probably a mid-major so their SOS will only get worse.  We will have more opportunities to beat quality opponents.  At this point, can't disagree with them.
6.   I think this kid is a must have for that class.  Everything you hear about him involves not only his skill, but IQ.  That is something this team has showed why it is such an important aspect.

Jayboob, can I like your post twice?  I sort of said the same thing, just a little late.

No, its when they have to throw an insult to start an opinion because they know they are in the minority.  That is when people take issue with that person.  I do enjoy debating with posters.  That is the point of places like this.  Just because that opinion doesn't jive with yours or others, doesn't make me a Pollyanna, or a Cookie what the hell ever.  So, kind of what you take issue with, we do as well.  It is annoying.  That was how his post started.  I didn't really disagree with everything he said.  I take issue as a poster and a mod of someone who thinks they need to start a post that way.  Just the same as you take issue with someone calling that poster a troll.  I called his comment a trolling comment because of those things he said.  There is no other reason to put that in his comment unless he is trolling for a response.  Its not the content I had beef with.  That is what is so hard to get through to you guys that have polarizing views.  They are great for a board.  Agreeing is boring.  Its the side crap that we get tired of.

Lol.  So, let me get this straight.  Anyone who disagrees with you is the thought police?  You older guys think the younger crowd is sensitive?  That is the part that makes me LMAO.  I will agree with the rest of your post.  I am only old enough to remember one title and was alive for 2.  My favorite basketball is being in the Damon Bailey title crowd, just because I knew he was coming to IU next year.  Honestly, you are correct.  That was the end of the "fun" times of IU.  I was aware of the tail end of it.  When players like Brian Evans sat the bench as a Freshman, because experience was more important than raw talent.  Unfortunately times change.  I have said it before, and I will say it again, I don't know if Crean can get us further than he has.  I like the analogy of he brought us out of oblivion, but the next question is can he take us to the next level?  I think he can win a title if the stars align.  But, I don't think he could win multiple titles.  I think other coaches like Brad Stevens if given the talent could.  Crean does not allow for any consistency currently and previously (with better talent) due to his substitutions and sets.  I think the players he recruits are mainly 2-4 yr players.  I think the problem he will encounter the way he recruits is he will have a solid team maybe 2 out of 4 years.  As you and I both know, that will not cut it at IU.  The season is not over.  This team was never going to go anywhere, but they need to make the tournament.  IU under normal circumstances does not miss out on that.  That got Davis fired.  Different AD's, but that seat better be hot if that is the case.

Difference between "opinions" is mine can be adjusted if I see a good reason to or have sufficient evidence in that way.  I just hate talking to brick walls.  What is the point in coming to a place like this if there is no discussion?  If everything is so cut and dry, why say it?  Same chance as Nebraska?  Lol, ok.  I will have what you are drinking.  I am old enough to understand that basketball evolves.  The motion offense worked in its era.  Variations of it have done well.  So, since time doesn't matter, does John Wooden win as many titles now as he did then?  I mean, if greatness is greatness.  That is what you said.  His teams were loaded, almost as if he cheated to get the best players there…  Knight, imo, was the first truly great "coach".  He could truly win with less than any coach before him.  He had great players, but he made mediocre talents look really good when they did what he wanted.  The days of a mechanical offense are over unfortunately.  I wish we had some as semblance of an offense that wasn't so reliant on just pick and rolls.  We are very successful when we utilize back screens.  Not sure why we don't do more of that with the athletes we have.  Same as the year before Cody, IMO.  We have some talent, but Crean will not change himself to the talent he has.  I think that is wrong.  I don't think it is as cut and dry as you that he won't win a title.  If John Calipari can win a title, Tom Crean can as well.  He is typically decent at game planning, but his in game severely lacks.  His adjustments hurt us.  If he does not win a title in the next 5 years, I am sure some will call for his head.  I think that is wrong on a few levels.  Mainly due to coaches like Calhoun, Boeheim, Gary Williams, and Lute Olsen.  Those are winning coaches who took years to win a title.  I know you know who those coaches are and those coaches consistently had questions until they won.  Crean will be no different.  I think at a place like this it is the way it should be.

Well then.  Let me address the first paragraph first so there is no confusion.  I don't give a damn what your perception of any place we came is.  You followed us here.  If you came here to troll, because of your perception of people on another site, you can just leave.  If you have followed us you know our rules.  That is all I will really say about that.     Second paragraph.  You are not a Crean hater?  You said that in your first flipping post.  Let me understand, you are absolutely certain he will fail, but you still like him?  Hmm..  Not buying that.  I am young and all, and I believe everything I am told.  That is what the cookie crowd does.  God knows you are old enough to know what greatness is if you want RMK here.  His last title was almost 30 years ago.  Yes he has the titles to show it, but he couldn't crack it in modern recruiting.  He couldn't even crack it in 90s recruiting (Again 20 years ago yet you still want him as our coach).  He was great, and I am old enough to remember IU winning under him.  You speak in a lot of absolutes for someone who is not a Crean hater.  If that upsets the geezers living under the glory years of yesteryear then, sit back and enjoy some Ensure with our Cookies.  I guess I will go back to enjoying the nipple with my cookie.  Youth always wins!  Hope the new place is to your liking.  If you truly feel people here are loving all thing Crean here, you might come to a game thread.  If not, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.  Which I am guessing you don't, because you have a perception of people based on their discussions.  Not speaking in absolutes like yourself.

They don't want to pooh pooh criticisms.  You don't come around much do you?  If you feel that way you must not.  We are just not blinded by our hatred of Crean.  We hope to win.  We understand his limitations as an in game coach.  The things you have said are a little extreme, and fine, but don't be surprise with the responses you get.  Its funny, you refer to him as a salesman, then say that well is drying up.  Funny, considering he is still getting top talent.  You want Bobby Knight back?  Good luck there.  You are officially in the minority.

Wow, sometimes you just feel sorry for people and their opinions.  When their "facts" are so distorted it becomes reality and to them everyone else is living a fantasy life.  People are just funny.

Thoughts on Crowd Booing CTC/ Players?

I had no problem with them booing him for it.  For the above, it has nothing to do with us "coaches" going 40-0.  It is the obvious terrible sub patterns.  Stan was the only player that has scored with consistency on the court for that stretch.  My wife who knows nothing about basketball even said, "this doesn't look like it will be good."  You cannot have a lineup with Marlin, Etherington, Howard, and Perea.  There is absolutely no upside to it.  Has nothing to do with 20,000 people being know it alls.  Has to do with logical basketball.  This game is not rocket science.  There are things a college level coach can see above the majority of people.  That wasn't one of them.  For the other statement where it was said he had worn out his welcome.  Yeah, not buying that either.  Not the feeling I have gotten being around there at all.  People just are tired of him over-coaching, and hurting our chances.  They don't want him run out of town.  They want him to slow down.

What are your feelings on Coach Crean?

Not all development is physical.  That is what they are saying.  Plus, there is about the same limit on practice time in college as the NBA.  Most players do the work outside of practice, just like college.  No coach in the NBA is having their players go hard for more than a couple of hours or they would lose that team.  More of a grind in the NBA than college with 82 games.  In the NBA if you can't do something, you get left behind.  I think it is harder to develop in the NBA if you don't have a solid base skill set than the NBA.

Rapid Reaction IU vs. UM

Yep, that was my biggest beef in the Nebraska game.  He was not active at all.  7 points and like 3 boards with 5 TO if I remember correctly.  He got down on himself in that game.  He was 100 times better in this game.  We needed every bit of it.
20. What a weirdly beautiful game.  This game was like a one-sided soap opera.  The crowd booed Crean for his questionable decisions.  Well, it was mainly having Marlin, Etherington, Howard, and Perea on the court at the same time.  We controlled the game at both ends of the court throughout.  We shut down Stauskas.  The list goes on and on.  It was weird as hell.  Almost like the Wisconsin game, but only more dominating.  We are not 20 points better than that team.  But, we played the best game possible on the defensive end against that team, and quite possibly the best offensive game we could play.  We couldn't miss, and that ends with the good guys winning on CBS.   This was a team effort at both ends.  We controlled both ends of the court throughout.  I was not happy with Yogi being on Stauskas at the beginning of the game.  I thought it would make Yogi tired due to the amount of screens he goes through, which would hurt our best offensive option.  I also though he could shoot over Yogi.  I did not take into account his biggest need when shooting is spacing.  Yogi was fast enough to keep with him all day long, and fresh enough at the other end.  Great call by Crean.  We shot over 50%, and held them to 40%.  We had 31 boards to their 22.  We had only 13 turnovers.  We also went 8-13 (!) from 3 in this one.  C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E GAME in this one folks.     Individually, it starts with Yogi Ferrell.  That kid brought it at both ends.  He had 27 points on just 10 shots, while holding Stauskas to 6.  That in itself is amazing.  I know Will fouled out, and his numbers weren't gaudy, but he absolutely seemed to be everywhere on the defensive end.  I don't know how many times a UM player turned the corner, and he rotated to force the ball reversal.  It is something that doesn't show up in box scores, but is important in a game against a team like UM.  Noah bounced back to the tune of 10 points, 12 boards, and 2 blocks.  Stan had 7 in this one.  I left Evan for last.  He has really struggled lately, and he was huge today getting to the rim.  He played large today.  He ended with 8 points while doing a good job getting to the rim on the secondary break.     Outside of some techy issues, this was a great day.  The 2014 version of Jekyl and Hyde might not be done just yet.  They do enough to give us hope going forward, and then lay an egg at the most inopportune time.  We have 6 days off before we go to Minnesota.  This is a place where IU has had issues with.  Lets hope the team that showed up today is the team that shows up next Saturday.  If so we will see that team have a chance to walk out with a much needed road win.  I did want to end with an apology.  I know the frustrations you guys have are first and foremost.  The issues are being worked on.  They are equally frustrating for us.  We hope to have a long-term solution.  Mainly due to the inconvenience it causes.  But, the things you guys are lucky enough to not see is when these things happen the higher ups have to stop watching the game (and today it was when one of them was in Assembly Hall) to talk to tech-support.  It sucks.  We will do our best to keep you up to date, so you are aware when things will be even remotely different.  I think I can speak for the rest of this manly crew (minus Jayboob!) and say how sorry we are for the inconvenience!

NCAA Tournament?

I think with the 2 big home wins, if we get to 19 we are in.  IF we beat either OSU or Iowa, we are for sure in with 19.  It would take us beating both Iowa and OSU (possibly on the road) to get in with 18.  Teams do get in every year with 18, but 19 with another quality win would almost ensure it I would think.  Doable.  Really wish we would have beat Northwestern and Nebraska.  I would say we would be a lock to getting in.
