Tom Crean Poll
That's okay, we can't feed the post anyway.
Hey baby steps... I am just content we didn't continually weave once we realized nothing was there. We do a pretty good job of feeding Hanner in the post lol. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
I'd argue that we don't really struggle against teams that slow the game down. That's just the result of a bigger issue. We struggle against teams that are effective at defending dribble penetration. It slows us down because we don't get what we want early in the shot clock. The big issue to me is that we don't have a good backup plan when we can't use the dribble to penetrate. Crean doesn't seem to have any other way to break down the defense in the playbook, or at least he hasn't been effective at teaching it to his players.
I would agree and add that is why I was happy to see us go to a variation of a flex offense against UM when the initial weave was empty. We may have lost, but if we could do that to a degree we could be really good next year. The one problem it creates is it is not good for a true post player offensively. Big 10 Tournament

I actually like our draw.  We get UM IF we win.  I would rather get them than Wisconsin.  Then, if we beat UM, we get either OSU or Nebraska to the finals.  Say what you will, but that is the path that is easier for a Tom Crean coached team.  I would say we would have 0% chance if we were on the other side, because we would have to go back to back days against MSU and Wiscy.  We just have to win.  Plus, I really like how we have played recently for this team.  I think they are close to peaking.  The thing I am worried about is Noah's foot on back to back days or longer.

And the winner is....

Oh now, lets not go too far.  We do hang out on the internet with Jaybob.  Lets not sell our integrity too high here.

Also very true.  If we were an easier team to beat in man to man, people would run it all of the time.  Our offense (loose term at times) is made to create switching issues.  In the zone, you play an area.  That is why I would like to see Crean go to the flex more like he did against UM.  That was beautiful to watch, and kept players moving.  It wasn't run exclusively against a zone or anything like that, but we got the ball to the free throw line and had players diving from all angles.  When a team goes to zone, that would work.

Good Mo Creek article

Great article. Like you had said elsewhere to be fair nobody except one Mo Creek fan in particular could have envisioned the season he had. His shooting would have been huge for this team. I would be shocked if there wasn't regret from Crean on that one. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
I just want a coach that can properly prepare a team to face a zone defense. Whether Crean figures it out or next coach up has the formula, it needs to happen. We lost to too many teams that were not as good as us because we can't handle a zone defense.
. To play devils advocate if the zone was an easy defense to figure out it would not be ran at this level with the consistency it is. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

In Painter's defense, he recruited better players.  He just coaches at PU.  So, in many cases he had to settle for lesser options than he was after.  That in itself should get him a lifetime contract.
10. Tale of two halves.  Starting to sound like a broken record?  Well, if it is just starting then you haven't watched much IU basketball this year.  I honestly do not have much to gripe about after that 2nd half.  We went to UM, and had them on the ropes.  The kids brought it today.  Those freshman gave us something today.  Noah was probably the 4th best freshman for much of the game today for us.  Stan, Troy, and Devin played a really solid game.     As a team we came out on absolute fire.  Everyone was hitting everything.  Yogi was attacking with his head up.  Troy was slashing and using his athleticism.  Will was cutting when his man would turn his head.  Stan got to the rim like he does.  Devin essentially AJ Moye'd UM tonight.  Our offense was moving for the majority of the night.  1 turnover in the first 15 minutes.  2 for the half.  Well over 50% for the night.  How did we lose?  Well, I said we had 2 turnovers in the first half.  The second half turned that number around for us.  If we play like we did today, we probably win 20-21 and make the tournament.  Not just the shots falling in, but the movement.  That is what makes shots easier.  Hopefully the kids see that heading in to next year.     Individually, I gave you guys a taste of where my head was at.  I do want to say I was disappointed by some performances, and if you watched the game you can single them out pretty easy.  Yogi had himself a decent game with 16 points and 8 assists.  Will had 17 points.  Troy was just a beast again with 16 points.  Stan had 13 points while being perfect from the line.  Devin Davis had his best game as a Hoosier with 9 points and 5 boards.  Just a solid day for that kid.  Noah had a quiet 7 points and 8 boards in what may be his final regular season game at IU.  That will be determined at another date.    Well, that was it folks.  That was our regular season.  Outside of doing something we have never done, we are headed to the NIT.  I do finally feel as if the kids have become comfortable with the college game.  Troy has been fantastic lately.  In between him and Stan, we will have a star if one can hit a jumper.  We do have something to play for yet this year.  Hopefully we can make the most of our situation, whatever that may be, coming up.  Lets see if we can make some noise in the BTT.
11. We need 2 bigs that can play quality minutes.  With or without Noah, that will be a struggle.  We have Hanner, but at most he is a 15 min guy unless he blows up in the gym.

Indiana @ Michigan Post Game Thread

I hope he does, but he doesn't seem too happy here.  If he comes back next year, I would hope he just makes it through a year without a suspension for the first time for his sake.  He has a chance to be very good.  He just has to let his talent take over.

Wow, will anybody in that picture step foot in AH ever again?
14. You know, you tip your cap to that.  That is all you can do.
15. Lets take this bitch to OT.
16. Need to hit 2 3s.
17. We have to hit 3s.  They won't miss free throws.
18. Would really like to see us go to the rim.  Don't want to see grab and chuck.
19. I think our freshman have finally grown up.  Wow.
20. I really hate those type of calls with 2:30 left with the game in the balance.  Either way it is a bad call.
21. Man, if we just hold onto the ball, we are up 10.  Great comeback by this team at UM.
22. Well, this half was more like it.  5 people standing with 12 seconds left on the shot clock down 9.
23.   Not as much as my pride in this season.
24.   Lol, the funny one will be the first post where someone says it was worth it.
