Are you really saying the offense ran through Zeller or Hulls? Zeller's offense was fast break points or drives from the top of the key getting fouled. If you can think of one top 50 kid who you can bash Crean for, you may want to look around. Crean is far more successful at those types than other schools. Vic wasn't top 100. Player mentality and drive are the key differences. Hollowell coming in was far more talented than Vic. He just didn't care as much as Vic. Vic was self made. As for the 6'4" comment, that was more of a reference to him getting his guards in position to score as opposed to bigs under the basket. He never ran sets for Cody off of the block. He ran him off of the key or at the free throw line. Hulls was a spot up shooter. Cwat was good at trailing a play for his shot. The offense was balanced and fluid. You had highly intelligent basketball players who were able to move without the ball. Again, Crean's biggest fault to me is his roster construction. The type of player he looks for is just not who you can bank consistency on. Not directed at you, but people bring up Hollowell and his lack of improvement all of the time. The funny thing is wasn't that 2009 class considered a bust 2 years in? Cwat, Hulls, Mo Creek, and Nick Williams were supposed to be the big contributors. Mo was constantly hurt (through no fault of his own). Cwat got pushed around in his first couple seasons regularly. Hulls had flashes, but had trouble finding his shot consistently with VJ3. Williams transferred. That was a top 10 class that took 3 seasons to really show what it had. Have we seen a class that was decent last 3 years since? That is what I mean by roster construction.

Hollowell was ranked purely on potential and the ability he flashed in AAU. A lot of players like that who never live up to hype. My problem with Crean isn't so much players who come here. I think he does a good job with getting his "ranked" players to play. My problem is his roster construction and utilization of the players he does bring in. Unless the players are 6'4" and athletic, he struggles to fit them into his offense. To me, that is a Crean problem. Not a player ability problem.

Either way it's entertainment. Each person has to decide where their interests lie. To me I will support every sport at IU regardless of what is going on. It is frustrating, but do people really forget one fundamental feature of IU basketball? Are there names on the jerseys? No? Why not? Because it's about the name on the front, not back. Wasn't that one of RMK biggest things? I know where I lean on this subject. If there is anything good on the Hallmark Channel definitely add it to the MVP thread that night.

I can believe it?

Wouldn't give UK the satisfaction.

Maybe he isn't quite up to the "speed" of the college game yet and SMU bigs weren't the best game to throw him out there. How about he is mentally fragile after the Davis incident and Crean was actually trying to protect his head. He probably would have struggled. The game is as much mental as physical. IMO

I don't think CCG would ever confuse you as his buddy. He only says that to people he is getting ready to dump on.
-
I am far from a grump, but points in a game like this are meaningless. This was one of the 5 worst D1 squads. Our shooting was great. The only thing I worry about is meeting a team that is physical. Also if we don't shoot exceptionally well do you see us winning regularly?
-
If we don't hit 50% we will lose more nights than not. We shot great today. This team is capable of shooting at a high clip against less physical teams.

There is chatter every time Lyle talks about anyone because he so impulsive with his actions.

IU AD Glass lays down the law on misbehaving basketball team

I have said this numerous times in regards to Crean's coaching style, but I truly feel he sometimes trusts his players too much. He feels as though talking is what it always takes for people to listen. During a game he will keep going with what isn't working. Like Yogi in that Cuse game as a freshman in spite of it obviously not working. After the game he mentioned in depth how much they planned and he kept doing what they discussed not to do. Instead of benching him and moving jordy to the point early he stuck with Yogi. Crean just trusts these kids unconditionally to a fault in many aspects. IMO -

I think it depends on how good he is defensively. Offensively he is ready, but the speed on the other side of the ball will make him a potential lottery pick.
-
I would be very surprised if that were the case today. More interest in IU now than then.

Yeah, attendance won't be an issue. Season tickets might be a different story. I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts on donors.

Lol and I toned it down. After the last 48 hours that was me unwinding. Jaybob can I get my days detention now

Well you are absolutely wrong on your opinion due to what recruits say. Never once have I heard a recruit talk about substitution patterns. Slappy? What in hell are we? 5 years old. For someone who is "old school" that comment was better suited for a 70 year old with a v@gina. I expect more out of some of you grumpy old bastards than that. Bob Knight would be shaking his head in disgust right now.
-
If I were a recruit I would laugh at a coach if his main negative pitch was sub patterns. The offense will suffice.
-
How ironic would it be if Crean didn't get fired for coaching. The one thing that divided us.
-
It was shut off due to too many people doing it.
