(2017) SG Mitchell Ballock

I think this should underscore why it is critical for most teams to have winning football teams playing in big games. We are a basketball school no doubt but games like this get recruits on campus. -
I think you have to start with your best even if for 3-4 innings

Wanted to separate this post from my last but last night was his 20th consecutive quality start. Only reason he pitched 6 was cause he is going Wednesday. He gave up 2 hits and was just dominating. I have watched a lot of baseball in my life and I have only seen Greg Maddux more consistently dominant in a single season. From someone who breathes baseball as much as Hoosier basketball I wish we had an adequate 3rd starter.

After last night I think it's safe to say that Scott Feldman/Steve Clevenger trade for Jake Arietta/Pedro Strop worked out in our favor. The years we sucked since Theo has come on he traded our pitching depth in July for reclamation projects of former top prospects. This one worked out. Hopefully Justin Turner former Tigers top 10 overall in baseball prospect just 3 years ago gives similar results. Best trade in MLB in a long ass time. IMO since John Smoltz went to the Braves in a similar trade. Edit: as much credit should go to Chris Bosio as Theo and Jed for the work he put in with Arrieta.

I guarantee the Yankees don't want to face Keuchel and that young team in a one game. I think the Astros take it.

Defense Preparing for Defending National Champs

The one thing I am scared of is Jones is due for a breakout. I guarantee he is at practice watching film confident. We have to put him on the ground and not allow him to get comfortable. Part of that is our offense and the other part is our D line. We can't have it where we have to stack the line or he will eat us up. -
(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State
mdn82 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
The funniest thing is everyone viewed him, Crean, and Gottfried the same even further back because they all 3 landed out of nowhere stellar classes and all 3 would be in the same boat. I remember Zellers freshman year when we played at NC State and they kept talking about us being the 3 up and coming programs. -
Right! He would pull out a bullpen day or something like has done the last month.

Its weird cause he sometimes runs his slider high. They flashed that stat during Pirates game Sunday night cause he hit one. I seen him pitch in person and they flashed a stat at Wrigley that he had the 2nd best 10 game stretch of all time behind Walter Johnson. Like I said previously I am confident with him on the mound in a one game. He has been very consistent the last two years. The Pirates bats don't scare me as much as their arms. We have a lot of young power on our team but strike out a lot. The one thing I do like is Joe Madden. He is like a mad scientist who doesn't go wrong often. As a Cubs fan I feel great for our future even if we don't get far this year.

Been waiting for it. It's been nuts watching him go. He just has maintained his stuff since May. His losses are games he is giving up a run. That's what worries me going against Cole. I just think it will be 1-0 in a coin flip.
-
I completely agree. IMO it's the best pitching matchup MLB could hope for in a Wild Card game.
-
In 36 IP against the Pirates, Arrieta is 2-1 (he gave up 1 run in 7 IP in the Loss). He has given up a total of 3 ER against the Pirates this year. I feel plenty comfortable and confident with him on the mound at PNC where 3 of his starts against them were.
-
I am not worried about him tiring. Arrieta may be the most fit dude in baseball (not just me saying it, the announcers will say it all game it gets old). Arrieta has like a .8 ERA since the All Star break which would be the best second half of all time. I can understand why an opposing team would think/want him to crack under that microscope but knowing how that dude is wired having seen him pitch all year I am not worried about it. That game will be 1-0. I would be surprised if it's any different.
-
He should have just put a picture of him with the NCAA logo.

36 teams is nuts. I thought once we started seeing 12 then 20 it was excessive. I can't even begin to verbalize how truly ridiculous this is. Hey if I have heard of you then you are on my list.

Dakich Doing His Own Version Of College Gameday on Saturday

IDK. Corso is the shit. DD unless he is doing keg stands he may be in over his head. -
36? I am sorry but that is utterly ridiculous.

(2017) SF Michael Porter Jr. to Washington
mdn82 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
We may soon see how loyal Durant was to Texas or Rick Barnes. -
Mark Prior was great for over 7 innings. He should have been pulled. Not his fault.
-
Lol you are too young to remember that live. I was in Wrigleyville for that. It wasn't Bartmans fault. It was Dusty Baker and players like Alex Gonzalez fault.
-
Well if they face Arrieta in a one game they won't get a chance to show off that bullpen.
-
Go Cubs! Guarantee not many teams want to play our young studs. Just think of our regulars in our core Rizzo is the oldest at 26. We have Bryant, Soler, Russell, Castro (will be traded), Baez, Schwarber... And more on the way. Nobody is wanting to see that. Add in a 27 yr old Arrieta who was given to us with Pedro Strop for essentially nothing from the Orioles. Theo and Jed are the f'ing greatest. Hell we got Addison Russell and Billy McKinney (top 75 prospect) for Shark and Jason Hammel. This year? I like us in the 1 game cause Arrieta. Concerned beyond that unless Arrieta and Lester pitch 4 of the games. Simple as that.
