My biggest beef with Crean beyond coaching has been character and roster turnover. Although if you depend on roster development as much as he does he would not be easy to play for. Character makes or breaks a team. Misses? Meh when you are going after top talent that will happen. Glad he is going after top talent. Can't stop going after talented kids just because they say no.

In fairness there was a slot for Gary Harris and it was real close to him coming here. That OV to MSU sealed it. Us having a slot wasn't the reason he didn't come here.

Don't understand why we don't pull out a screen game with the inexperience -
I don't know. You are more than welcome to look that up. While you are at it look at arm slot. How healthy the individuals were. How many stressful situations they were truly under. Ask any pitchers and they would tell you that you could throw 80 highly stressful pitches and it feels like more than 110 low stress pitches. Those matter too you know.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/blog/archives/2935 Basically the conclusion is very good starts and some very bad. My thing is as healthy as Arrieta is he has as good of a chance as anyone to throw 90 pitches on 3 days with success. As much as you feel I am underestimating this just a quick search will show you this has happened every single year since stats were collected. This is not as uncommon or taboo as you feel. If we had a quality 3? It wouldn't be a question, but we don't. We might as well run a bullpen day same as September.

I am thinking I have seen it many times throughout my 33 years of life work as recently as the Astros play in game to worry as much as you. It's the playoffs. Every year we see pitchers go on 3 days and have plenty success. Surely you see that? Right? You don't think Arrieta at 85% is better then Hendricks?
-
I think they swing early on counts against him. We do strike out a lot but typically get into good hitters counts. If he gets ahead a lot it's game over.
-
I think as fit as he is he could do it easily after his CG. 6 innings of 85% Arrieta is far greater than anyone not named Lester would give us.
-
Damn it was just Thursday wasn't it.... Either way not feeling too great with Hendricks up there in this must win spot.
-
Yes I know Hendricks got the nod already
-
I would rather have him pitch game 2 and 5 on 3 days rest then.

Hey Virginia boys should I be excited about the Doghead Fish 60 min and 90 min IPA I have coming my way?
-
Yeah I don't think we would win game 5. The way it's set up we would have Arrieta and Lester in Chicago. IF there were a game 5 it's gonna be Arrieta on 3 days. It has to be. Right?
-
Thats how I am with Strop against the Cards. I have no clue what Madden was doing but he just ruined that dude for the rest of this series.
-
I think Madden left Lester out there too long. He is no Arrieta. Oh well. Goal in any series as the road team is to split. Come back tomorrow and see if the boys in Blue can make some noise.
-
Yeah that's one catcher in baseball you listen to.
-
Cubs in 4?
-
It did and it was awful for both teams. Why I was giving Cards props for the 4 runs. We should have never put a ball in the zone.
-
Props to the Cards for getting 4 with this strike zone
-
About ready to talk about clean strippers in the Scruggs thread.
-
Well Cubs fans aim for that split.
