Good outcome considering. Schwarber couldn't have played that any better.
-
Nah. Just think it was his time to give up something. He hasn't been lights out his last couple of starts.
-
This is the Cards inning to break through
-
The umps have been horrible this series. Probably the worst of all the series.
-
I think both teams will. Wacha is throwing a lot of pitches trying to nibble. He comes across the plate we aren't missing much.
-
Arrieta hasn't brought his best stuff but so far he is holding them.
-
If either team just scores 2 with the wind blowing out 20+ mph they lose. Even though it's Arrieta I see like a 7-4 game.
-
Imo that's the best hitting lineup with great pitching on the mound.
-
Wind blowing out to right field over 20 mph.. That is the reasoning for the staggering lefties.

They will have to hit Arrieta to win this series. We both know the stigma of the Cardinals and their clutch hitting in the playoffs. Not just last year, any year. We know the Cubs stigma in the playoffs. If the Cards were healthier and you guys were getting timely production from Molina, Carpenter, or Holliday I would be more worried. Those are the guys who are going to have hit Arrieta. While at the same time, Wacha will have to get away from the worst month of his career having not pitched in two weeks. For once the stigma of both organizations really doesn't scare me. Ever since Taveras passed (biggest loss in baseball IMO since Munson) the Cards have had bad luck when it comes to injuries. It just seems to be catching up with them. If you guys have Martinez? I think you guys win in 4. If you had Taveras and Martinez? You guys win in 3. Unfortunately for the Cards they are the most banged up team I can ever recall in the postseason. Which to me is a kudos to Matheny. To get that team to win 100 with the injuries they had is a phenomenal coaching job.

I am hoping it's not a good game for understandable reasons.
-
True but I have to think Arrieta's confidence is sky high after going to Pittsburgh and doing what he did in the play in. Can't think Wacha is too confident after that month.
-
Wow didn't realize the Cubs slashed .301/.376/.542 against Wacha. Looks like he hasn't started in two weeks due to his September ERA/FIP/xFIP of 7.88/7.84/5.03. His strikeout rate in September was just 17% and his walk rate was 16.1%. Those are some ugly numbers. He is going against Arrieta. No wonder Garcia went in Game 2.

He thinks it's the 80s and he can protect players without information not getting out there. That has been his recurring theme. In that setting you can't control everything in house anymore. -
Finally baseball did something about this!

Very valid point nips.

Awe sweet we haven't got a hold of this class' big that's a project. A name to look forward to. -
Not completely true. He has to slide within an arms reach of the bag. We both know it was dirty but since it was a force play he is safe. Since you can reach the bag wide with your hand that's why crap like that stands. I hope they change it but it doesn't sound like they will any time soon.

Lol nips...

Kind of like the Red Sox having to do something never been done before against their arch nemesis to break their curse. Maybe we just had to play the Cards.
-
For once I am not concerned. We may lose later but I don't feel it will be this Series after that game. I could very well be wrong but maybe we just needed to face the Cards in the playoffs all along.
