Do they lead in your eyes just because they won more than TJD? There is no player that “plays hard all the time”. If you truly feel that way I am guessing you probably didn’t play even high school basketball. Let alone with anyone good. I don’t get why we hate on a player going out getting 20/10 in this league, this year. You really think that isn’t a good enough effort? I think plenty of people watching this product, this year would politely disagree and feel you are just hating on him for not being part of a winning team. It’s not his fault he can’t kick it out to an open shooter and expect the shot to drop at a reasonable rate.

There are no complaints on TJD from me. The kid has had a stellar season. Props to him on the recognition that will be coming to him.

It is. That’s how they have always done that type of thing. It will be some college kid working in the department copying and pasting. A fan will never get an email to Scott Dolson. It would get filtered into a specific folder that interns have admin access to in Outlook. Tbh they probably set up a signature in Outlook with that generic response and switch the team out every game. One click email done.

Not as a fanbase. Boosters aren’t pushing that hard. At least the ones that matter that I have heard. They aren’t pushing Davis or Crean need fired levels yet. Beyond that our hiring process is horrible and really hasn’t changed much on the last three coaches. I may be stupid but IMO it might be in our best interests to take a hard look at that.

Agreed and I will never understand their logic in being hesitant in those situations. Not necessarily with Becky, I truly haven’t seen how she coaches up close to give any kind reasons for or against. I know Pop speaks highly of her, but outside of that and her playing career I am in the dark.

Oates, Drew, Beard and Stevens for sure would be $5 million+. Beard and Stevens would be near $10 if not closer to $15 million per year. Don’t give them an easy decision. I understand their situations and why they would want to stay in their current situations. Give them a reason to come. Do we honestly think Calipari was going nuts trying to get into Kentucky? No, but they threw a lot of money at him and gave him space to build his vision even if it wasn’t the norm at the time. Our admin has to do that for the next hire. I agree on Musselman and White. I know some boosters are higher on some NBA assistants. I have even heard Becky Hammon. Truly (won’t happen at an IU). She wouldn’t get $5 million obviously. Neither would any assistant. Some boosters like people like Dana Altman and people like that. This is the year to go big game hunting. Next year we would go for upside unless something hopefully opens up then.

If we make the tournament there won’t be a ton of uproar for change unless a sure fire name coach is out there. Should add that too. That’s the vibe I am getting currently. If anyone else is hearing anything different would love to know. Most everything I am hearing seems really open ended. By February of Crean’s last year it was a foregone conclusion. This one is much quieter or Dolson just isn’t to the point of making a change for change sake. Not sure honestly which one it is since he is newer.

I understand that sentiment, but I truly feel there will be coaches out there this year of all years at $5+ million. You start jumping into that echelon of coaching choices there will be some there worth hiring. I don’t think we should so easily go to upside unless we are waiting until next year. If we make a move this year, the way I understand it this will be because there is a Brad Stevens (not necessarily him but a name coach) out there waiting for it. The question will ultimately come down to how much the university will pay for its next coach and his assistants. I can say booster’s wants are more than upside if a change is made. Trading Archie for another Archie lottery ticket is not currently appealing to boosters.

There are coaching candidates every year that seemingly come out of nowhere. I truly think this Covid situation could play into a positive. I guarantee some top coaches out there struggled with the year and are trying to determine whether their spot is the best option. If the rest of the year plays out in a way a change is the best option, we must swing for the fences. Open ended and generic, but if it’s not a coach worth throwing $5 million plus if we have to go this route, I don’t want them. That’s how small I want our list to be. I am done with upside coaches. If this time takes us to our 3rd, 4th, 5th option, our university isn’t serious about basketball. If we want to be a powerhouse, we need to start acting like one again.

To this point main boosters haven’t gotten the testing the land call yet. If it matters. With Crean that was a revolving convo for about 2 years prior to his exit. If we lose out no way he is back imo. No way the boosters that matter would stand for that. I would be willing to bet a second Purdue loss this season where we look totally inept would mean as much if not more than missing the tournament this season. Edit: Sorry wrong thread. Well not necessarily. They have to pay for sanitizing between games, ushers, and other staff. Not saying that’s $80k, but I would be shocked if this netted them more than $25k at your numbers. Wonder if they will only sell all day passes or blocks of 2 or 4 games only to minimize those costs.

Wonder if they have designated for season ticket holders then general public to get to that 25%. But I haven’t heard anything definitive on that. But 500 only at SSAH? Yeah that will be moved.

I can see that. Even at that we are talking essentially $20 million including Archie’s buyout. I know that’s a big number, but if you as a university are serious about basketball that really shouldn’t make you flinch. I think only Calipari’s is absurd. Other than that if Kansas, Duke, UNC, and Kentucky wanted Oates that number wouldn’t scare them. They could get that in donations easily. If that’s a guy as a university you say you want money shouldn’t matter unless it’s an absurd amount. I honestly expected his would be higher. He isn’t ending there.
