Now that he is an executive it makes no sense to get caught in the weeds at the college level. I bet if Woody needed put in touch with someone, ok. But WWW isn’t going to be at the EYBL or Nike headquarters for IU like he was for Cal and Memphis/Kentucky after his godson, friends kids, and then nephews went and played for Cal. Just off the top of my head he was directly involved with Dajuan Wagner, Tyreke Evans, Derrick Rose, Brandon Knight, Kidd-Gilchrist, and Anthony Davis. I would assume KAT as well with how it played out. None of those kids play for Cal without WWW. But around 2015 he really hasn’t been involved in as much with Kentucky. Guessing he was trying to get legit. Dude is just famous for being Waldo in pictures and knowing everybody. Has been since Jordan.

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
mdn82 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Scholarships are the 1st start of summer session to the 1st session of the summer session the following year. They are renewed mid May of every year. After the spring semester we have a choice same as student to renew or not. Same as them. If they leave in December as long as they are in good standing academically it won’t hurt us much. But if we kick a kid off mid semester it will hurt our APR. Gelon’s “ATHLETIC” scholarship was not renewed after the season = no harm to APR. IU’s BOR offers a full academic scholarship if their athletic one is taken away from them. We are just one of the few schools that offers that part. -

Yeah man, I know you and I have had discussions probably over the last 15 years on IU guy vs not IU guy. I think to a degree we both hedged at various times if it was needed. We will see how it plays out. But I really like the structure they are going to surround him with. He is an X and O guy. The other guys will help with recruiting and making sure he doesn’t hand a kid a pop giving IU the death sentence. Out of every ex IU guy, at the point it had to be Woodson or Lewis I think. Good time for a reboot for everyone. -
Best way to put it honestly. Sometimes you have to hit 75 in a 60 to get where you are going. I truly think Archie was willing to play in the gray, but when your teams look like dogshit it’s still a dog eat dog business. Bye bye relationships.
-
Good dude to have on your side if you want to win. Recruiting is a game of relationships and very few people have more relationships than WWW. Been that way since the late 80s or early 90s. I know Dajuan Wagner at Memphis was the first kid WWW helped Cal with. That dude should have been an absolute stud in the NBA. Pretty much any other name kid for about 10-15 years after was associated with WWW.

Is this similar to saying a woman working at McDonalds is the hottest girl working at that particular McDonalds? It’s a home on a reservoir in Indiana man lol. I have no idea why my statement responding to what Wayne said led you here, but I am moving on.

Thank god he knows the fanbase or he might be offended. Welcome coach. Hope for your sake and our sanity you are successful. Best of luck coach. -
Did he get a raise? Last I knew he only made $200k for both his radio and tv gig. Or do we pay our assistants that poorly? I truly don’t know but it’s going to be important with Woody.

My god this is the only thread that has rivaled the old Cody Zeller recruitment threads with optimism, hope, and unison. Pretty please come home Brad! I promise I won’t ***** about any of my sports teams for at least 6 months.

That would be a truly impressive feat with no search committee handling all logistics of this (legal, travel, food, etc.). If Dolson can do that I will be very impressed.
-
I heard pretty specific contract items that made the spidey senses go off. It was pretty much the same from 2 people that don’t know each other. But it was odd in that it wasn’t completely over the top and sounded plausible. Completely different than the last coaching search. But another interesting tidbit I hadn’t thought of is with this one not coming from a committee, there will be more info out there. This should be fun.
-
Time to go listen to the actual interview. I am not getting **** done again today....
-
I am honestly not sure. I heard from 2 people I trust, but you never know during this type of situation. I do know from what I have heard Dolson is just a confident dude right now. The general feeling is he has something that will make people happy. Beyond that, I know who I would go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd try. Hard to say if he does since he would have a lot more info than us. I hope this is accurate, but I wanted to more see what others are hearing to see if this is what it’s gonna be like with info during this. Haven’t really got a feel for Dolson and what info is out there other than a general consensus Dolson is big game fishing.
-
Hey guys (stu I will be good for my short trip). @chris, just curious if you have heard on the starting point of 10/$65m? I have heard that number a couple of times today. Edit: Testing the waters to see if the info is consistent or if this is how this search is gonna go with rumors and whatnot.

I can truly say I didn’t recall that one lol.

Need to fix that filter. Shits gets through.
-
Agreed! We need that more than the flaming pile of shits we got on our bench.
-
Yep this ******* crock of **** is ******* BS and I would rather have the shits.
-
We could use some of that around Bloomington!
-
My money is on Gregg Marshall. He seems like a decent coach.
-
No you didn’t. It’s cool.
-
Ok. Thanks for deleting mine.

Agree to disagree. You completely missed my premise, so continuing is completely useless. In the future if someone asks a question on this or any forum they are not typically instantly going for your throat personally. To be quite honest I could honestly care less for real if Jesus Shuttleworth played any sports. So if you think that was my overall intent with asking you a question and you becoming sensitive I apologize. I am quite frankly sure I will never know enough about Jesus Shuttleworth to give a damn beyond this convo. Sorry for the misunderstanding and getting you flustered. Wasn’t my intent with that simple question.

Can’t wait to see his sophomore jump. -
It’s not personal. I expected that answer from you if you were being honest. There is no player that could bang and go as hard as he is 100% of the time with the load he has to pull. Has he made mistakes? Absolutely. But questioning his motor tells me all I need to know this year. There is a reason zero people agreed with the premise of your post. Josh only liked your post cause we just don’t like each other and you questioned me making it personal. It wouldn’t matter if your post was something 100% he disagreed with when it involves me. I am guessing even he disagreed with your premise but that isn’t the discussion he wanted to join by liking your post. There is not one person other than you questioning his motor this year. He has made lazy plays and I won’t disagree with that. But he has earned his leeway. But your initial issue was leadership. Just because he is the best player does not mean he has to be the leader. I have yet to play on a team at any level where the best player on my team was the leader. It wasn’t personal. I was legit asking for a reason. Not saying you can’t have an opinion, but I hope you understand why we would feel your perspective is skewed.
