I am new to this so I may be wrong but I think you actually have to vote above, not just comment for your vote.   But I do agree the only person that appeared to play hard (if not well) was Vonleh.... He was at least getting to the line and knocking down free throws.

He was ok... The big thing was he was a "message" from Crean... He got the start over Hollowell. Both a message to Hollowell and a reward for always going hard in practice.   He was decent though, he pulled down 3 early rebounds and had a nice assist. Also got 15 minutes of playing time (which basically doubled his playing time for the year to date.)

Great write up.... We need to cut down on the unforced turnovers... some guys appear to get going faster than they are able...   Jeremy had a good game and I really hope he can continue that. I truly think some players are better suited to come off the bench... there is an inherent pressure associated with being a starter and maybe Jeremy can't handle that yet.... I agree that it probably isn't going to be Howard come conference time (Although I thought he played very well last night) but I think we have some other options and if it loosens Hollowell up like that and gets him to play more free that is a good sign.

I agree the starting lineup will probably be the same but I bet Jeremy is on a bit shorter leash tonight... I think Hartman will get more minutes as well (I have a premonition that he will lead us in 3 pointers made tonight). This is set up to be a high scoring up and down game, great way to bounce back but also a dangerous situation for our young team.

I agree JH needs some playing time to help him try to reach his potential and I realize if we want him to reach that potential he has to be in some tough game situations or he will never know how to handle them.....   With that being said there is absolutely no viable reason he is he inbouder with .7 seconds left in a game we are down 1.... He is not ready for that... Crean had a nice play drawn up, it didn't come open so JH HAS to KNOW to call the last timeout and get a reset... I thought for sure he was going to get a 5 second call, but instead he inbouds to NV with his back to the basket.... no possible way you can get off a turnaround jumper in .7 (Bad decision)   Also on the rebound of Yogi's miss he did go after the ball but couldn't hang onto it... if he gets a strong rebound he has a chance to go straight back up with it and be a hero.... (Bad technical skils)   I am not one to say he should transfer or even move behind Marlin & Howard in the rotation but until he figures something out he needs to play less.... If CTC wants him to become the other ball handler then play him while Yogi is out and let him focus on that 1 part of his game.... but to play him that many minutes and expect him to do that much.... he just isn't ready for it (yet - hopefully)

Speaking of Hartman.... Has anybody figured out the pattern yet? I am sure Crean knows it but I for the life of me can't figure it out... 1 game Austin gets minutes the next Hartman gets those minutes.... Based on opponent? Just trying to see what each has to offer? Besides garbage time have either of them both played in the same game this season?   I am a fan of both and would like to see them both getting minutes....

  Well when can we make it.... I yell everytime he touches the ball. Devin Davis should start over him already and let Jeremy come off the bench and see what if anything he can add that way.... He stands around on D, Turns the ball over when he touches it, can't shoot, apparently can't dunk....   Ok ok ok... I am done ranting now but he drives me crazy.... in all seriousness though I have a strong feeling I will be eating my words by the time he graduates..... When/if he puts it all together and reaches his potential he could be really good... kinda reminds me of a Russ Smith (UofL) as a Freshman & Sophmore.....

I understand this is a Hoosiers forum and the answers will probably be a bit biased but do you think Crean is a Good/Bad/Great Coach?   I love Crean and everything he has done for the program... I love his fire and his emotion.... He has gotten some big time recruits and coached up some lesser rated recruits to become stars.... But I am a lifelong IU fan and maybe I am biased.... I live in southern indiana (literally can see Louisville Ky out my back window, across the river).... so I am surrounded by UofL fans and even UK fans... all I here is how outcoached he gets and that we will never win a NC with him as our coach....

Pitino is now talking up the recruiting class and not announcing their signing yet by saying there will be a big surprise.... I believe Snider will be staying home, and we can all watch the Illini meltdown!!! :)

Just for the record I was not trying to down Coach Crean or start any arguments.... I agree with almost every post in this thread on some of the points. He is a great recruiter, and he develops players... As somebody else said I have never seena  coach so in tune with all of the other sports are the school....   He is a really good coach IMO and I do think we will hang a banner during his time (At least I strongly hope so)....   I also agree sometimes the players mess up and that makes a coach look bad / or the players do great and make a coach look great.... It was mentioned above about the Syracuse game and although that game stands out I agree the players killed us more than the coaching, there were some things CTC could have done differently but in all we just didn't come to play.... but to give coach all the credit for Victor (for example - As his hard work and dedication had at least something to do with his development) and none of the blame for the bad is hypocrisy.   It is the in-game decisions that I sometimes question are usually substitutions etc... like why didn't this guy play or why is he still playing.... LIU was playing a zone letting us bomb away 3s... surely we have somebody on the bench (Marlin from what I have heard) that can hit some 3s... maybe they can play no defense, they are a liability with the ball in there hands, etc.... but just for a short spurt put him in the game and let him shoot them out of the zone so everyone else can play their game after/if the defense changes....   LETS GO HOOSIERS.... LETS GO CREAN!!!

And please no cutting down the nets until we win the NC.... this is IU, nothing else compares....   I agree with everyone else in this post though that we are going to continue to develop our young team and be very tough, with the athleticism we have we could be very dangerous THIS year.... Vonleh is a good replacement for Cody & Troy is a good replacement for Vic..... Need somebody to step up and shoot the ball some nights (Sheehey can get hot, but is streaky, Yogi has worked all offseason, what about Marlin... his D lacks but if he can shoot the other team out of a Zone please put him in occasionally just for that.)
