Str8Hoosiers

What are you execting out of our August trip to Canada? 5 games in 6 days... that is a lot of basketball and not a lot of time outside of games for coaching or improving.....   Would you be happy seeing some type of team growth if we didn't win the games... I mean it is August, the games truly mean nothing.... so is winning them important for the team? The Coach? The Players? The Fans?   This is asked based on an article I read today in my local newspaper that ended with:"We're going to go through some tough days (in Canada). I (Crean) mean we're not going over there and winning all those games. No one's walking over there saying we've got to be 5-0 to be a success..."  

This is more of a HOPE than a true thought.... with my wife being the biggest UofL fan  have ever met I always hear about him and how much he is going to dominate us.... even if we lose the game if we shut him down I will be a little happy (of course more happy if he scores 50 and we still win)

  He is a beast but he isn't a post player. He gets his off the offensive rebounds, or in transistion... Obviously he is probably working on his post play the most during this off season... but he is only 6'8" so I think DD will be able to body him up if he tries to play down low and Troy I think will be able to neutralize his athleticism....   UofL is going to be a tough game but I think we have a chance... besides the above, Chris Jones is fat and out of shape, even Pitino has made comments about that. T Rozier is going to be the guy this year for them that I am interested to see how Yogi handles him....   I think we go 3-2 in these 5 games I just really hope Louisville is a W or at the very least SMU... would hate to lose those 2 and win the other 3...

Y not? I love wearing mine when I get to go to Btown.... but it is even better when I wear them around here and everybody looks at me like I am crazy and I can just say GO HOOSIERS!!!! Always support and tell the haters to blow Off....

Honestly that is a 8/9 man rotation... Would make me VERY happy, but at least 4 more players will get minutes consistently.

Thanks for the clarifiaction, I was under the impression EVERY walk on was gone... Glad to hear it, so that means we have 8 players returning from last years team correct?

Last I heard he was still decising but said he wouldn't announce either way until the April 27th deadlne. No Hurry   I agree, as there are a lot of transfers in todays NCAA.... IU - Jonny Marlin, Andrew Calomeris, Joe Fagan, Northwestern has had 4 transfers, I think Purdue has a few leaving as well (Maybe it is just Johnson as listed above)

Up to 15th going into the Elite 8..... Didn't realize this as I was doing my bracket but I now have Arizona running the B1G gauntlet to win the championship this year.... I believe getting 3 teams to the Elite 8 shows just how strong the B1G is/was this year.   What do you think about Arizona having to go through Wisonsin, Michigan, Michigan St (Potentially) for a title.... Can it / Will it be done?

Really a Bowling Alley!!!!!   I think it is time for everybody to take the rest of the weekend off and meet here to watch the games!!!!

Hopefully I will get to go to the Derby Classic again this year... got some pretty good video on my phone of Troy in this dunk contest last year..... Just saw a tweet from Troy that him, Stan, & Devin may try to come to hang with the new recruits....   UofL has 3 players in it and I am sure all their guys will be there again as well...   If you have the chance i encourage you to go to this game, it is a pretty good time and the more Hoosier fans in there the better

I disagree... I think the exact rigt decision was made.... He did exactly what we wanted him to do, and I am not sure how many others could have accomplished what he has.   I hope 5/6 years from now I can look back and say teh decision we make this year or next was another good one!!

According to latest NIT Bracketology we will not be getting in.... I have never followed NIT bracketology before so I don't know how accurate this guy is (I know Lunardi is proven pretty accurate at NCAA)....   I am going to watch IU no matter what it is they are playing in.... Hopefully it is the NIT, and hopefully we pick it up and win it....   What are the chances we miss that too? Does that change anybody's opinion of the season?

We are still talking about IU basketball right? Would there ever be a time under any circumstances that a new coach (proven or unproven) comes to IU and people don't expect immediate results.... I guess one could argue Crean didn't have that pressure but if we ever go back that low.... And even with that being said he may not have had immediate pressure to get a title but he had immedite pressure to get us back on the right track.   I agree, too many variables right now but to think any new coach for IU would get a pass for a few years is not the IU way.

There are basically 3 schools of thought... 1.) Keep what you got -  I am not a fan of this, who cares about stability, I don't want to be stable in 8th place in the Big Ten or playing in the NIT. Stability is overrated when it comes to recruits in the longterm... short term maybe you lose a guy or 2 but long term if you are stable in mediocrity then you will get mediocre recruits.  2.) Go after the Big name - Hard to find that big name that is willing to leave wherever they are. Top 5 coaches don't just up and leave. 3.) Find the NEXT top 5 Coach - You never know where the next one is coming from, try a guy if after 5/6 years he isn't the next great then get rid of him and try again.... It isn't like just throwing darts, there are coaching trees, there are people inside college basketball who have ideas of who MAY be the next great coach... but it isn't a gaurantee either so don't be afraid to miss as long as you are willing to try again.   Overall I am on the fence with Crean, I wouldn't throw a fit if he was bought out but I don't see it happening this year. I LOVE what CTC has done for IU, he has done exactly what he was hired to do (Resurect the program).... but maybe (just maybe) it is time to part ways and hire somebody else to do a different job (National Title)   There are no gaurantees, not Calbert, not Woodson, not Crews, not Stephens, not Crean....

What does submitted for a home NIT game even mean? I was under the impression the lower seed got the Home Court advantage.... not saying we won't be but I could easily see us being a 5 which would mean no home game.... How do you just request a home game?

There very well may be a permanent uni change coming but these particular unis are just for this years postseason... They would just change for the BTT (& NIT in our case) It is a way for Addidas to make extra money.... they do it every year, we have just resisted until this year.... UofL had special jersey last year and won the NC, yet those never came back this year. It isn't abot what the school wants it is a special way for Addidas to promo and make money.

I don't think Pritch was putting Hartman down... I think he was saying the same thing you said... he doesn't get any real minutes. Hard to evaluate....

I am sure we wouldn't turn it down but I doubt we get a home game.... we were projected as a 4 seed prior to todays game, now we will probably be a 5.... (probably a trip to LSU) so would it still be such a good thing?

It is all about the draw... OSU would play Nebraska Friday and although they did get the 4 seed they were GREAT at home and OSU should be able to handle them on a Neutral, then would have to play Mich... MSU on the otherhand has to go through Iowa who desparately need a big win and then Wisc who is hot.
