Scientifically it gives the ball the highest average of making it in the hoop.... "The key to a successful foul shot lies in the arc of the ball—in general, the higher the better. While an official-size basket is 18 inches in diameter, the basketball itself is only about 9 1/2 inches, which gives a margin of 8 1/2 inches. But when the ball is thrown nearly straight at the basket, in the style of Shaq, the margin disappears because the rim of the basket, from the perspective of the ball, resembles a tight ellipse. “That’s why these guys miss so much,” Brancazio says. “Because of the sharp angle of the typical overhand throw, there ends up being a much smaller window for the ball to go in.” If the ball comes down at the basket from a steeper angle, the way it does if tossed up in the high arc characteristic of an underhand throw, the margin reappears. “That means there’s a far greater chance of making the basket” - Discover It looks odd in this age of the game but if you have a weakness in your game and you can find a way to fix that weakness would you do it for the good of the team? I would do it if it helped my team be better and potentially win even 1 additional game... -
IU vs Bellarmine Post Game Thread
Str8Hoosiers replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Watched the game last night on replay and I thought we looked very good. Even when we gave up the 23 point lead you never felt the team was out of control, never thought the game was getting away from them. That to me is a huge change from last year. They seemed poised and they responded accordingly... -

Quentin Taylor is eligible correct? I don't think he played. I know Newkirk & Fuchs aren't but don't we have a 16 man roster right now? Surely Priller is ahead of him in the pecking order... I mean why doesn't CTC see what we all see with MSB? -

So we played the first half (at least the first 15 minutes) as we are going to play this year (with some big bodies down low).... and then we played the rest of the game like last years team....(Small and letting leads slip away). I am fairly certain those minutes won't be split like that come Friday or after so i am very happy with the way we played this game... as mentioned no injuries (and some extra rest for those possibly nursing injuries) is a very good thing! -

I wouldn't consider "ensure Pitino is fired" to be a light punishment or the situation being swept under the rug.... To me that is the absolute worst possible punishment for UofL and their fans... It doesn't matter if the NCAA vacates the national championship and doesn't recognize it... All the Players, fans, recruits, etc all still recognize it... and to vacate it means they put an * in the record books with a notation of what the * refers to.... It happened in the past and there is nothing the present or future can do to remove it from history. -

They finished last season #3 (directly behind the Augustana team that just beat another BIG team)... But I can't find any preseason D2 rankings. -

Saw where Davis is not only giving verbal but signing his LOI on Thursday... Any word if Kegler is doing the same... I have a strong feeling they both are #in but a LOI is even better than the verbals -

What is going on with Hammon (PU)? Not playing in the exhibition games... Painter saying he has issues to work through... I hadn't previously heard anything (not that I follow PU).... -
Good Lord you have 6 RBs.... But then again you have a stacked team with no reason to trade any of them away....

From his Twitter & Instagram pages he is VERY EXCITED to be a Hoosier... and I know we would all expect that from a Walk-on but the love of a program, the history etc is contagious.... and the more guys on the team that have that Love & respect the better off we all are! I am genuinely excited for this kid. Even if he never sees a moment of in game action.

Fuchs on the stat sheet?? That's odd isn't it. He isn't officially on the team until after football season right?
-
What kind of defensive pressure is Ottawa putting on us?? 11 turnovers and they are back in the game. I suck at following a game on radio...

OG 3 fouls!!!! Is he out of position? Reaching? Hustle plays? Ticky tach?
-
Would like for everybody to know where to be... But if they are not I like the seniors coaching on the court. Leadership is born somewhere and even if it's late to IU if we got it now that's a great sign.

Virtual reality stream in Mandarin maybe??

Sounds about like the staying lineup we all expected or at least hoped for... Regular season I think Hartman starts over max if healthy though...

I get what you are saying and agree with most of it... But give me a contract, even to be on a practice squad and even though I may get seriously hurt I would jump at that opportunity. I'm all for better equipment, but I'm not for changing the game... I think it has already gotten way to soft and changing the kicking aspect could change it even more dramatically. The people who "suffer for our entertainment" are not doing it for us I promise that...

This brings up a topic of conversation that they discussed during that game as the hit happened.... With everything being done for player safety they have almost removed kickoff returns and they were discussing what options for punts... What do you think? I like the big hits, I think the kicking game is a big party of football... These guys get paid millions of dollars and part of that is entertainment but the other part is that it isn't the safest job... There are repercussions...

2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread
Str8Hoosiers replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was at this game and Bellermine didn't look good at all. Supposed to be one of the top D2 teams again this year I believe but they have no athleticism, not good shooting, defense wasn't good either. They had 1 player that will prolly score 25 against us (George Scruggs) but other than that I expect us to handle them much easier than UofL did. UofL struggled to score for most of the game... Missed a lot of easy open shots around the basket. -

Not only that but the NCAA is in no position to grant immunity... There is obviously some truths in this story but there are also a lot of false statements and false information. Not everything is as it seems and I seriously doubt anybody ever hears the real story because she won't get immunity....
