That's still basically the season.... at that point why rush him back? Assuming we don't get hot with him out then by that time we would no longer be in contention.. I would want him to fully rehab it and do what is best for him.

Assuming that is what you meant by DV in the original post but just razzing you a bit... I would LOVE for DG to get the start but I just have seen enough from Crean to tell me that won't happen unless his hand is forced (injury etc).

DV? We can all hope and speculate but we know in the end it will be JBJ, Newkirk, TB, RJ, & xxxx (Morgan or OG in the last spot)

I was thinking about this the other day and somewhat feeling the same way.... Then I realized I am using a game at Penn State as a barometer for our season and got really dis-heartened... I understand Penn State is no Delaware St. and it is on the road, but still "It's Indiana, It's Indiana"

This game really depends on which team shows up for both clubs... On paper we are better overall and we are at home.... So I say it is close throughout and we pull away just a bit at the end... IU 81 MSU 71

I know people don't want to sit high but there were roughly 20 people in the whole upper deck opposite bench side. student section was definitely light as well. Lower sections seemed full for the most part but still plenty of open seats

52-50.... If we play any game that low scoring we don't have a chance.... Is Minnesota overrated? Is Penn State underrated? Both teams are actually statistics wise very bad at offense and very good at Defense so I can see how that outcome would come about, but I sure hope our high powered offense can do something against them.

I get what you are saying. I am just talking about playing the percentages... It was pointed out that Rob is a better shooter from the Right wing than the left. If JBJ is the same from either then why not flip it to have the shooters in their most comfortable positions. But I digress, I just don't believe that play could have been that poorly executed. But as said the last 1:30 was poorly executed so.....

Either they really messed up the spacing on those screens (OG/JBJ side) or the draw up of that play is horrible... Is it in the Players or the Coach? However the Screen on the left side (Rob/Juwan) looked pretty well executed.

In that case it is HORRIBLE execution because that screen was set not even close to the high elbow. And OG went directly to that spot immediately down the floor, so I can either put it on the players or believe they ran it exactly how it was drawn up and then that goes on Crean. I would like to see it ran correctly and see how it would look because it still seems like that is a hard pass to make, but if the spacing is totally different it may open up easily... I still say the play should have been flipped to give us the best chance (Unless JBJ shoots much better from the right corner than the left and I don't know the stats on that). Agree Hova - Had the shot gone in it wouldn't even be a discussion.... would be how great the play call was. And it did have a shot, it was a nice open look, just not from the right guy in the right place.

Are you sure JB was the first option? If so that is the worst drawn up play ever. At 2:12 of this video is the final play and I have watched it over and over trying to see what i missed when watching it live... And I still don't see it. OG set a Down Screen for JBJ to go to the corner, with 5 seconds on the clock it would have been a very tough pass to handle and get up a good look or would have had to be multiple passes which we wouldn't have had time for... On the left side of the floor Morgan set a screen for ROJO to flair to the wing, which opened up a good look. Newkirk does look JBJ's way first but there is no chance that the play was drawn up to go to him, it was a look off to make the defense react. The final play (IN MY OPINION) was 100% drawn up for the look we got... and it was a good look.... but it wasn't the BEST. Flip flop the play, have Rob flairing to the right wing = Better Flip flop the players, have Rob head to the corner and JBJ flair to the wing... = Better

On the road against a decent Penn State team... Horrible offensively but pretty respectable on D. We are still the better team... and factoring in their Home Court we should (& MUST) come out on top. IU - 77 Penn St - 71

Interesting but I don't see much truth in any of it.... He says it is based on logic... I guess his logic is MUCH different than mine (and the majority of the fanbase) He says it isn't pre-planned but based on the flow of the game (Not the same games I am watching) Its a 40 minute game, and college players are young men, they are not going to hit that wall by playing 36 minutes but not hit the wall by playing 30.... they can power through those last 6 minutes, and on a good night when they are on fire the adrenaline will carry them for 40..... The 1 part I agree with is he says he isn't living in the moment, play by play... We can all see that.... he thinks he is thinking long term for the end of the game but the plays at the 8 minute mark are just as important as the 1 minute mark (Not always but you get my point).

I would need to go back and watch it but why was option #1 not there? Maryland do a good job defending him? Bad play drawn up? Rush? And why was option #2 Rob on the left wing instead of the right (assuming DD was correct with his analysis of Rob's shot percentage).

This is what i don't understand... The final play... I know we have no go to guy... but isn't our best option JBJ in that situation... why not switch the play for JBJ instead of Rob (since Rob was having a not great shooting night)? Or as DD said all game Rob is damn near perfect from the right wing... so why run the last play for Rob to go to the Left wing.... Know the strengths and design a play to go to those strengths... I didn't read this whole thread, so maybe it has been mentioned, but the ending very much reminded me of the Nebraska game... a couple missed free throws, and a blown layup by JBJ and I knew the result would be the same at those moments. (not even to mention the stepping out of bounds before that)

I am usually very positive in my outlook... but unless something changes i don't see 10-8 at all, 9-9 is very possible but looking at the rest of our schedule i am thinking we could very easily end up 8-10... going 7-7 the rest of the way would not shock me... I would hate it but it wouldn't shock me with the way we have been playing.
