  1. How does this work? Each week I will create Prediction League threads for the weeks game(s). It's a simple concept: Each week you start with 100 points (only if a prediction is made, otherwise 0 points for the week) +25 PTs if you guess the winner -25 PTs if you pick the loser +10 PTs if guess IU score correctly +10 PTs if guess Opponent score correct -The # of points different between the actual and predicted score of IU (over/under doesn't matter) -The # of points different between the actual and predicted score of opponent (over/under doesn't matter) *** Reminder if you post a prediction and want to change it, please just POST a NEW Prediction, do not edit a prior post as I may miss those edits. The person with the most points (MINUS 2 LOWEST GAMES) at the end of the season wins.

I know stats are important but sometimes stats dont' tell the whole story and in Green's case I believe that is at least part of the case. As already mentioned part of it was the system he was playing in, part not being disciplined for turnovers and almost rewarded as part of the plan.... Obviously some of it is on the players (him specifically). But I put a lot of faith in what my eyes saw with him on the court. The Offense was spread better, he made the right decisions, he is a very crisp passer, he seems to see things our other PGs don't see or don't have the confidence to attempt those passes. CuJo on the other hand I never saw much in his game that says to me he is going to breakout and be great. I see that potential in Green.

To expand on this, which 3 guards? I agree Hartman will get a lot of minutes regardless if he starts or not. I see Green starting at some point in the season if not the beginning. RoJo i feel is better as a starter... I think Josh & Cujo off the bench for guards.

You think we will start 3 guards? I think CuJo could potentially be that spark off the bench, but not in a starting role.... Hartman is going to be crucial to our success this season.

No Duke is absolutely shocking to me. Really think this is now a 2 horse race.

    2017-18 Season Expectations

I guess I am an outlier but I don't see a deficit in talent.... I have HUGE expectations for Davis, Morgan, & Green. I have High expectations for Johnson, Hartman, & Jones (and maybe Newkirk) I have expectations for Durham, Smith, & McSwain (and maybe Newkirk) to play really good occasionally but not consistently I think we have the offensive firepower to compete and the possibility of a Defense to keep us in games regardless, I know it will take some time for everybody to buy in to Miller's defensive philosophy and gameplan but I think we have guys who are capable of playing tough D. On Offense I see guys that are capable of hitting the knockdown jumper (Jones, Hartman) consistently, guys that can play big (Davis, Morgan, Smith), and guys that can get to the Rim (Newkirk, Johnson, Green, Durham) I will be very disappointed if we are outside the Top 5 in Conference. We should win at least 1 or 2 of our bigger non-con games, all the gimmies (no WTF losses this year) and be a solid 6/7 seed in the Dance....

Who gets the ball in late shot clock situations

I agree that could be a tough spot... surprised to hear people say that is Davis though... I have huge expectations for Davis but would never suspect that he would be the guy to create offense at the end of the shot clock, I feel he has more of a deliberate take your time kinda back to the basket skill set.... When being forced to go fast I don't see him being as effective (When the clock is running out) I am hopeful that the creator will be Green even if it is creating for others with his vision and passing ability, or Newkirk if can learn/continue to finish at the rim more consistently. But those are some what ifs and some wishes so I can see that being a major weakness this year... but hopefully the offense won't just stand around for 25 seconds and then force in 5.... maybe we can not have too many late clock situations that will turn the games.

Arizona vs IU series coming to a town near.....

I like neutral court games for some series... aka UofL or Butler, UK even... but not for Arizona series... too far apart geographically to make any sense... i mean MSG is cool and exposure, and i know we feel we have a fan base in NYC... but what is the point for Arizona? I'd rather a 4 year series with home, home, neutral (Indy or Louisville area), neutral out west somewhere.

Nothing illegal about having strippers..... Pay for Sex is different but I am not sure that was ever proven (was it?) And in my opinion Legality is still not in the NCAA's discretion.... If it is a legal issue get police involved, have an investigation done, McGee, the women, the players, anybody who was involved can go to jail or whatever the punishment is for prostitution and/or soliciting prostitution. The NCAA should only be concerned about the NCAA rules, which money to players/recruits falls into but not what they do with that money... Should there be a difference in the NCAA eyes if money is given to players and they go buy drugs, strippers, cars, or video game systems? NO, they got the money or the gifts... it shouldn't matter in the NCAA eyes what the money was used for.

The NCAA should not be the Morality police.... the press conference she stated it wasn't about the money but the acts and how dirty it was.... That is out of their scope in my opinion. The punishment for that part is Bad press, people always being able to hold that against them etc... I don't believe the NCAA has any right to use those specifics in its judgement or its case...

    College Bball Thread

After reading all of these comments I am fairly surprised... I actually think this is a very Severe penalty and actually overly severe... There is no way to ever prove that Pitino had knowledge... I personally believe he had to see/hear something at some point but there is NO way to prove that ever. McGee did it and is being punished by a 10 yr ban. The fact is they gave approx $10k over a 4 yr span to recruits and/or players.... They should be punished for that, but not the death penalty.... A post-season Ban, Scholarship reductions, Recruiting limitations, and a loss of a **** ton of money from Conference for Tournament appearances.... Not too mention the Bad Press and loss of money that undoubtedly came from that. Add in a perfectly fair 5 Conference Game suspension for Rick saying the Head Coach should know even if he doesn't sounds like the extent of it...

    B1G/ACC Challenge

Holy crap you guys are quick.... I am so PUMPED!!!! Time to shut my brother in law up!!!
  15. With all due respect I sure hope not... this reminds me of scheduled substitutions no matter the game flow to get everybody equal minutes (or at least scheduled minutes). If we are so well conditioned (and we should be) I want at least 4 of these 5 (Rob, DeVonte, DeRon, Juwan, & Collin) up above 30.... that leaves 50 minutes spread between the rest (4-6 players) and go with the hot hand of the rest for a bigger chunk, or based on matchups with the other team. EDIT: Ok maybe that is unreasonable..... Maybe for the Bigs... but for the guards at the very least I think they should be above 30..... And I really think is DeRon can stay out of foul trouble he should be up there as well.

    Poll: Archie Miller

I also think Green will & should start over Newkirk in the PG position.... if we run 3 guards (which we will at times but hope that is NOT the starting lineup) I think Josh is the 3rd for sure but I think he is better suited to be the 2nd/3rd guard vs the lead PG.... he has his attributes; his drives (if he learns how to finish consistently), his demeanor, his experience, etc but he doesn't have the vision that Devonte has, he doesn't have the "IT" that makes those around him better.... I see that in Green. I also give Green a little bit of a pass on the more turnovers than assists as that was part of playing in FCTC system.... and trying to make things happen that the other guys may not have been ready for.... after playing and practicing with him for longer they will see those passes coming. I think he is just as strong a defender as Josh as well, if not better.
  17. You are forgetting Hartman.... I could also see McSwain getting more run than Moore at the 4 spot.... I am very hopeful in the progression of De'ron Davis but if he has any foul issues Moore almost has to play the 5 and Morgan, McSwain, & some Hartman probably at the 4.
  18. Agree it could go either way but somebody as close to him as I would assume Chuck Martin still is saying something like "...begins his journey to the NBA." Of course his journey could include another year as a Hoosier I suppose.
  19. Sounds as if JBJ he isn't going to be at IU next year....?

    Buffalo Bills

See my post above yours! Incredibly STUPID move.... Organization wanted QB Patrick Mahomes at the 10 spot but GM traded it away.... final nail in his coffin. Excited for the new coach and wish GM would have been fired before the draft but....

    2017-2018 Basketball Schedule

This is a ridiculous move by the BIG.... I already hate the idea of playing our conference tourney a week early so maybe I am biased, but there is a much better way to make it happen than this cluster.... Every team in the BIG has at least 2 weeks during conference play that they only have 1 game... eliminate that and you have made up your 2 games... Start the BIG conference slate 1 week early instead of squeezing a few games in a month early then going away from conference for 3 weeks. (I understand this option may be more difficult as many teams already have games scheduled in the non-con the last week of December).

How do we trade out of the 10 spot? That seems like a horrible decision, there was so much talent still left on the board...

    TOM CREAN FIRED

That was supposed to be the point of the article... a Crean point of view that it isn't that he is not in demand but rather he is being picky because he wants a better situation, conducive to winning..... As if he didn't have that before... Mentions that several have reached out but he wasn't interested.
